The scenerios have a few faults in them. The speed limits that are indicated on the bottom are not a true reflection of the speed, there are places where the speed is a lot lower than what is indicated on the bar. This can be a few places where the speed drops and change happens sooner than expected I like the amount of detail they have put into the loco. I have tried driving this loco on one of the flat routes and it only has a top speed of 90mph and it won't go any faster. It seems to have its speed restricted. The train is rather sluggish with a lack of accerlaration and it requires a lot more breaking to stop at the stations. you need the woodhead line to make the most of this engine.
GT3 Locomotive Add-on for Train Simulator 2016
A British gas turbine locomotive... wow! Yet another piece of history brought to life for posterity by the excellent Victory Works, offering a chance for us to see how this locomotive that was not-to-be was operated. This one has been one my wish list for some time, so I finally bought it in the sale this Easter. I tested it out on the Woodhead Route, which being set in the 1950s, had the right feel for this locomotive. This goes back to the time when Britain not only made things, but also invented and pioneered things, like the hovercraft, the V-bombers and the Concorde. I found the nostalgia both wonderful and sad. What happened to our once great industrial nation? It seemed to evaporate over night. I don't think I'll ever get over the demise of our railways. Anyway, this add-on is well worth getting if you’re into this stuff.

A rather unusual add-on of a type that never entered revenue earning service. But this is virtual railways right? A "what if" BR blue version looks just dandy at the head of a rake of Mk I coaches for a "what if" scenario. The GT3 is a fun addition to any collection.

On sale, this is an absolute must for odd-ball fans. I love weird models, this one fits. For full price, all you get is the locomotive in original and fictional blue schemes, so I find it a bit lacking for the full price when compared to many of their other models. Otherwise, it is ridiculously cool and well worth the 8 bucks I spent.

The "BR" GT3 is an odd-duck, both in our rail history books and in Train Simulator. One of the very few gas turbine locos built in the UK, the GT3 never saw revenue service, but did serve as a long lived test bed for it's builder and designer, Vulcan Foundry and English Electric respectively. The model in TS was developed by Victory Works, and you can expect their usual quailty and attention to detail that has become expected of them. The model itself is at the very least interesting to look at, considering it seems to be some sort of love child between an awkward 1st generation Diesel-electric and a BR Standard 5MT. Although the model has been very well executed by VW, I find the cab slightly greyscaled out and uninteresting. Of the two liveries included, I much prefer the prototypical Red Oxide livery, as I don't find the BR livery very well implemented. I think it was smart of VW to include a "What if?" livery, but I just can't get over how stark the contrast of colors on the BR version are. Too much yellow for my taste. My largest complaint about the GT3, though, are the sounds. I know most people reviewing this DLC say the sounds are quiet, but to me, the gas turbine, even in the cab, is truly deafening. Maybe it's just my personal settintgs, but this thing will blow my eardrums if I'm not careful. You can also tell that the sounds were made with sofware, but, then again, there isn't a GT3 laying around to record off of, so I suppose I can forgive this particular artistic license. At least more than other DLC that use ear-bleedingly bad recycled Railworks 2 sounds. By far the best feature on this DLC are the features in the cab. Cold Start, accurate guages, extra animations, advanced physics, this is where the GT3 shines. Her true potential is shown when giving her a spin. And hauling a heavy express up Shap Grade should prove no problem in this little beast. I could spend all day in the cab, as long as I wear some good ear protection... PROS: -Unique driving experience; think UK version of the Big Blows. -Brimming with advanced VW features -Good scenario content -Quirky up to my eyeballs CONS: -lackluster sounds -Limited scenario opportunities -Ugly BR livery Overall, this little turbine is packed with personality, and is a fun drive for those looking for something other than your normal, dime-a-dozen, steam and diesel tracion. 87% Overall, 95% with a sound update.

Excellent addon:-) The cab sway is perfect - stay in the centre of cab and look behind - especially at higher speeds on junctions. I also like the camera outside window!

I love how this engine sounds like a jet engine from one of those little private jets. She's perfect for my collection and I love driving her. Pros: The fact that she's in the game Her strength [being able to haul 15 coaches successfully from Sheffield to Penistone] She comes with five scenarios instead of the usual three She's a very quiet locomotive. I love the bauxite livery she comes in. Cons: She's too quiet when your in the cab. The horn is recycled from the Class 33 'Crompton' The locomotive takes too long to get moving when you apply power. The brakes aren't very responsive. My rating for the GT3 is 10/10 [which is a rare thing].

GT3 was one of three gas turbine locomotives tested by British Railways in the 1950s. Although the engine itself was fairly reliable, it was unable to compete against diesel traction and was sold for scrap in the 1960s-towed there, ironically enough, by a steam engine. GT3 in Train Simulator is brought to us by VictoryWorks, best known for their steam loco addons such as the Saint and K1. The model is excellent (although the BR Blue livery is far too loud in terms of contrast), and the level of simulation is excellent. Additionally, you can choose to start the turbine manually or let the secondman do it for you. The sounds are not recordings and were assembled using software, but this is understandable as at the time of release there were no operational gas turbines in Britain to record from.
