Better than MegaMan X6, but that doesn't mean much

I backed this game on Kickstarter and beat it on the PS3, and I can say this version feels wrong. I can't beat the first boss on Steam after beating the whole game on PS3. I can't recommend this game. Dashing into the enemy was hard to do on PS3; it's worse on Steam. I keep getting hit while dashing into them.
Don't buy this game for a dollar. Too many instant kills, including the bosses, and with the sluggish controls, will get you killed. It may be easier to listen to a boss's audio cue to know what he'll do next. But I hate that. I like to listen to podcasts while playing games, and I have to quit the podcast to beat a boss. The bosses also have too many moves that look the same. You'll have to pay close attention to tell this is the boss rush attack, this is his explosion attack, and this is his body slam attack. I felt most Mega Man games made it easier to tell what the boss was gonna do next.
I also got hit so many times, dashing into enemies to absorb them, only for them to get a cheap shot on me. Bosses are good at either getting a cheap shot or doing a move that stops me from absorbing them, and then they heal the damage back.
Also, there are too many text overlays during gameplay that will both distract you and cause you to get an instant kill or take a hit. I don't know what they were thinking there. If Doctor Light (of Mega Man) had talked to me the whole time while I was trying to beat a boss, the game would have never gotten past 1. Just like Mighty No. 9
But if you still decide to buy this game, make sure you change the lives from 2 to 9. You'll thank me for it.
FYI, I beat Celeste, Blasphemous 1, and Hotline Miami 1 and 2. I like difficult games that are mostly fair. This isn't one of them.
Update:
I decided that since I beat this game on PS3, I would try again. I was able to beat the game on normal for both Mighty Number 9 (Beck), and I was able to beat the game with the DLC character, Ray. So after beating the game twice (1 Beck, 1 Ray). I can say all my previous comments above are correct. I won't be playing hard mode for this game. Too many instant kills for my liking. When I change my graphics to low to try to stop low down, the game changes back to high.
The game isn't terrible, it's a meh game with a lot of instant kills and overpowered bosses.
Game Soup (YouTube) has a great review of this game (Mighty No. 9 - Weapons & Bosses Analysis) that explains what's wrong with this game.

Péssimo, extremamente frustrante, existem diversos outros clones de MegaMan muito melhores por aí. Querem um bom? Joguem 20XX ou 30XX, não essa porcaria.

I saw this game on sale for $1.99
"Hey, I remember that game. Wasn't that the one everyone was hyped for and then it didn't meet the hype?
Well, some people seem to like it. Maybe it's not bad, and maybe if I give it a shot I'll have a decent fun time."
That was ME before I decided to spend $2 on this game.
I am a long time Mega Man fan, and while I wasn't hyped for this, I always intended to give this game a shot eventually.
Before playing this game, I did play through Megaman X 1, 4, 6, and 7.
OH YES, Megaman X7. The worst game in the series, and yes, it is still awful.
So, with a mind fresh and ready for some Megaman-ish gameplay, how does this Mighty No. 9 hold up.
NOPE! It's bad. It's really un-enjoyable.
Somehow, this game is worse than Megaman X7.
That's not to say this game is buggy or unfinished. I thought the controls were pretty sharp and responsive.
The issue is enemy and level design. Puzzle solving.
The game is not too hard. The game is too NOT FUN.
The feeling of satisfaction and triumph doesn't come when beating a boss or level. It feels hollow.
I do not like this. I feel like I wasted my time, and I want my $2 back.
the 6.9 hours I spent on this game could have been spent watching He-Man singing Four non blondes on loop.
I don't know!
Ultimately, I recommend any who's read this far into my rant/review, just don't bother. Not even out of curiosity.
This is not a good time.
