Very linear, little rolling stock that are also in an out of date livery. However well build, good detail and nothing notably wrong with it. If you live nearby or use this line in real life I think you will be disappointing with this as it won't live up to expectations. All being said if you're okay with all this buy it on a sale.

Love it but it's biggest problem is, as I believe with all TS DLC, it is vastly overprieced for a 33 mile route that comes with a rather dated train and another train wich comes with no scenarios. I only bought this route as I live on it but apart from that, the route itself is too overpriced. I would recemend the Settle to Carlisle route wich is cheaper, more iconic, comes with 2 extra trains and is equally as detailed even if it dosnt have the most availability.

My second favourite game at the moment, I love playing TS. I've bought settle route and the liverpool-manchester route, they are brilliant. I would really like it if they did a Liverpool to mnchseter vai the line that goes through Rainhill, Earlestown and Newton stations. its could to be able to wander around the towns you stop at, although the details are lacking, but with a map a large it is understandable. A big thumb up.

A must-have British route. Though released a decade ago, this route still outperform many latest ones. The buildings and trees are decent. Sections of Merseyrail and Metrolink can also be seen on the lineside. This route is well-made to publish, representing some of DTG's top standard of the time. The line is rather straight and flat, with right-of-way express and stopping local. Both type of service are easy to drive on this route, as there is no steep slope or dense traffic that bothers you. Every single scenario is less than 60 mins in duration, cutting the drive time to a comfort zone. There is also AI freight service hauled by class 47s, making the scenarios more reasonable.

It's a good route however when I try to Quick Drive from Hunts Cross to Liverpool Lime Street I get an AI collision error involving a class 47, I've tried verifying the game files with no luck.

If you're wondering, this route does not include the full content of the "Class 158 DMU Add-On" DLC, which is sold separately. Note there is also another variation of the Class 158 included in the Settle-Carlisle route.

Not bad.. not bad at all for an older route (2014)... pretty good looking.. about 45-60 minutes end to end aboard the class 158 in Quick Drive... can find it with at least a 50% discount .... yeah... take the fans to the game and enjoy some passenger service.. "ALWAYS BUY ON SALE, ALWAYS" and by sale..I mean 60% or better...

A nice line, excellent for stopping services or medium expresses, but somewhat limited for anything else. Pros: +Nicely built route, good scenery. +I love both Liverpool Lime Street and both Manchester stations, really well modelled. +The Class 158 is a nice DMU, with several 3rd party reskins available, including the correct EMT reskin by R Fletcher from DPSimulation. +I like the inclusion of MerseyRail signage around Liverpool. +Comes with class 47 for AI. Cons: -Shame about lack of modern day livery on 158, but as I say there are 3rd party reskins available. -Shame there is only one passenger train, a class 142 or 185 wouldn't have gone amiss. -Quite short, only around 40 miles and the middle section is quite linear and repetitive. -Why did DTG do this rather bland route over the other historically important route. Overall this is a nice route, but in my opinion a bad choice to start with. The other Liverpool to Manchester route is much more historically important, and the Hope Valley line using similar rolling stock is much more scenic. This is illustrated in the promotional screenshots- almost all of the amazing areas around Liverpool and Manchester, which to give them credit, are some of my favourite areas in the game. This route is not bad at all, it's just that it doesn't stand out, it's just average.

Nice to have the location you see every day in a video game (although much of the university buildings are actually missing in this route just after Piccadilly)! Overall, it's a nice route to drive and you can make a good variety of scenarios for it from Merseyrail stoppers to Transpennine Express services to Man Utd matchday shuttles provided you have the right train for the job! However such a short route which doesn't really have much scenery between the two cities (apart from Warrington in the middle) is certainly not worth the full price so I only recommend during Steam sales. Otherwise, almost everything is spot-on considering I'm very familiar with Manchester, especially Piccadilly station (which I see all the time when I commute to uni) and you'll get plenty of landmarks on the way (including Beetham Tower and Old Trafford Stadium to name a few) and the Class 158 is a brilliant unit to drive around in, although it would have been more appropriate in a modern day livery like East Midlands or Northern (the Regional Railways livery doesn't look too bad though) - could do with more rolling stock variety without having to buy other trains separately but hey, DTG want more money so what can I do? Overall: 7/10

A nicely built route. Do I recommend it? Yes, but only just. Unfortunately, it is limited as far as variety is concerned. The route was voted for in a Dovetail Games user poll to determine which route they should build and release next. I'm pretty sure most who voted for it did so because the name of the route itself is iconic as the first Inter City passenger railway. It's a shame that the developers decided to take the south route through Warrington and avoid the original historic path. Positives, like I said, it IS a well built route and does looks great. The scenery isn't over populated so isn't too much of a burden on your PC. The tipping point for me giving this route a thumbs up is the climb out of Lime Street up to Edge Hill through the trench, I thought they captured the atmosphere just right. Negatives, the Romans would've been proud engineers of this route. Straight line to Warrington, then straight line to Manchester. By no means the fault of the developers, but it results in the interest to actually drive the route disappears pretty quickly after a couple of runs. Marks 6/10
