This one one of the first DLC locomotives I bought and I still use it loads.
It is powerful enough to haul 12/13 coaches on the flat, although it may accelerate quite slowly and it is very prone to slipping; so a gentler approach is highly recommended when starting from a complete stop. It's also not too fond of the slow line out of King's Cross.
The Clan comes with a selection of maroon MK1s, which I use for the vast majority of my trains. They have interior/exterior views, and they have sleeper variants.
The sounds are good, even though the locomotive has been out for a good while now. They still stand up to some of the recent releases in my opinion.
It's definitely worth picking up. The sales are definitely the best time to do it so you can get Western Lines as well, which is highly recommended in my opinion.

I bought this one and West Scotland Lines, as they sort of go together. I don't know about sounds the people are complaining about as I'm not a railway maniac really. However, whistle sounds great. The loco looks amazing in my opinion. The problem is that I'd like to learn to drive these steam engines with expert controls and possibly without hud also and in this one it seems I can't use injectors manually or even with keyboard controls. Using hud controls I see the valves turning but with mouse I or keyboard I just hear the squeak but nothing happens. So, for me this turns the thumbs down until it's fixed.

Not a bad loco. Yes it's prone to wheel slip and the headlights are only textures. But apart from that not bad at all. And the sounds aren't too bad, BUT and its a big but, theres a certain soundpack on 'steamsoundssupreme' that adds some extra features to it including this awesome whistle (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=448514248633662)
It's the best sounding whistle on any engine in the game in my opinion, you will not been dissapointed.
Link to the product page below. It's only $5 USD at full price so hurry up go get it.

This loco iis ok. It is fun but hard to drive and is very prone to wheelslipage. The sounds aren't that great and there is bad frame rate in the cab but overall it is a good train.

Lets start with the good shall we.
The Mk1's are your usual DTG Mk1 coaches, with Sleeper versions.
They're essentially the same coaches as in the A4 pack (Even have the photograph on Bittern in the interior view) except with some sleeper variants, still have a few minor bugs with the coach numbers, but nothing major.
If you want more variety in coaches, and you can catch this in a sale, go for it.
And now ... the locomotive ...
Funnily enough, when the Class 6's were introduced Shed Staff commonly mistook them for the larger and more powerful Class 7's, leading to a lot of negative reviews from crews since they kept getting put on Class 7 work that they would really struggle to complete.
And it seems something similar happened here, as the developer has seemingly made a Class 7 Britannia and thought it was a Class 6 Clan ...
Boiler Pressure, Tender, Cab, Firebox, Connecting Rods, right down to the axle boxes. All have more in Common with the Class 7's than the Class 6's. Combined with sounds ripped from the Black 5, the only thing this locomotive has that's from an actual Class 6 are the numbers and the name plates.
If you want a actual Class 6 Clan, or you really were hoping for a Class 7 Britannia, go get the JT ones instead.

I have to admit this was not really my best purchase but spending $6.50 compared to $12.99 it's a half victory.
Visually it's ok and comes with some nice sleeping coach stock but thats really about it. Headlights provide no light but look nice, forward vision in the cab is very poor so a majority of you're time is spent in a outside view which means you will have a good chance at missing the AWS. But the most common and annoying problem is the wheelslip. It takes very little effort to get wheelslip regardless of load and weather conditions so don't expect the sander to help. As a result starting off is slow and won't take much to fall behind. Despite being rated as a 6MT it handels very poor compared to other loco's rated at 5MT or 7MT and higher.
Sounds are aweful and simply taken from the Black 5 which is a MUCH OLDER asset. I wouldn't reccomend this unless on sale for 50%-70%+ off. Only real use it serves is background Ai or scenarios that aren't timed tabled or scored. A sound pack is available from Steam Sound Supreme.
Honestly I should've just waited and saved up for the 'Pro' Clan class from JT.

Whilst much aligned by British Railways and locomotive crews, I find the 'Clans' a good worker quite capable of hauling 16-coach sleeping car trains at a sustained 80mph. Acceleration is decent and braking is good, though speed is limited to about 90mph (91mph was the maximum I managed with 10 Mk1s). Recommended for Scottish steam lovers for the Dumfries- Stranraer 'Port Road' and those who want to build up a decent collection of Mk1 coaches whilst also getting a loco into the bargain. The 6MT comes with Maroon liveried Mk1s with appropriate yellow band on First Class and Composite vehicles. The following types are available: BFK, BG, BSK, FK, RMB, SK, SLC, SLF, SLSTP and TSO. These enable express, cross-country and sleeper trains to be created quite well and provide a good assortment of types for use with other locos on railtours and the like. The locomotive is recommended a reminder of the dying days of steam on the UK mainland and of the standard classes with which BR sought to rejuvinate steam workings with. It's just a shame none were preserved as they really are a pretty good locomotive.

I can't believe none of the other reviewers pointed this out, but the third scenario (Unlikely Replacement Part 2) is impossible to complete with anything higher than 835. Even if you complete it without making ANY mistakes, you will still only get silver with 835 as your score. One of the achievements requires you to get at least 900 points on it, making it even more broken.

I know there'll probably be a lot of haters out there who will say simply because the chuffing noises are as old as the Somerset & Dorset dlc that this is a piece of crap. Let me tell you this: Do not let that stop you from buying the dlc. I find the whistle particularly charming, there's light effects coming off the firebox at night, also at night light from the coaches reflects off of passing trains, the lamps on the front end work alright for me. Also there's more than just the standard FK, SK, BG, RSK, and BSK included in the stock. There's also Sleepers both in FK and SK as well as a new brakevan which because of the striping on the top more than likely is first class, expanding the reusability of this dlc for scenario writers. It's what I expect from the pack and that's fine with me.
