GUARDS feels better as a friend party game full of strategy that quickly melts into instinctive chaos for one reason or another.
Older versions of the game were rough in more ways than one, with originally having timers on all missions, no easy way to keep items, and reinforcements appearing after a mission ends, forcing players to run like a bat out of Hell to the starting point or risk losing at the tail end of the mission.
The Friendly fire adds to the chaos (if enabled), making your teammates more of a threat than the actual perps.
The games can end quickly in victory or defeat depending on what happens, like a bomb thrower behind a corner or two hammer wielders, or someone bringing a tripwire crossbow.
At the end of the day, on the year anniversary of this game, having 100% the game at the time of writing this,
I rate this game a 7/10:
+ Chaotic Fun
+ Beans
+ Nearly anything being a weapon
+ Unorthodox methods of winning fights
+ Okay Character Customization
+ Timers on most missions removed
- Difficulty Spikes
- Poor Default Lighting
- Unfair enemies
- Hostage Missions
