I never got far as a kid, but I love it now that I get what I'm doing. The puzzles are fun, the music and combat is nostalgic, all great elements that make up a great game!

Solid remaster. My first time through the game. Fun overall, with some frustrating level design at times. But glad I played this classic as a fan of JK2 Jedi Outcast.

The only thing is, how come there is no volume control for music/sfx in the options?
Otherwise, this is great. Being able to plug in a controller and it play smoothly is seriously worthwhile. The graphical improvements are great too, but I am glad you can opt for original cutscenes, I really like some of the rotoscope bits. The game feels very good to play and that's really all I've wanted for it.
I will say, punching kell dragons is harder for me with the new sprite work, only because I'm used to timing the punches with the older sprites. And since I play on hard, Jabba's ship has like 5 kell dragons in the hold with you. So for that one scenario I do revert back to the older graphics (conviententaly avaialable in the options).
=> 9.9/10
Just add the volume option please : )

Just as awesome as I remembered it being!! I was actually not going to buy it because of some people saying it doesn't hold up, but I'm glad I did. This game is alot more than just a doom clone. classic puzzles that sometimes be obtuse, but that's all part of the lucas arts charm!

This game is just Doom(1993) but set in the Star Wars universe! Only negative is it's a really short game for a $30 price point.

Let's get this out of the way; There is some weirdness going on with the aiming. Lots of arcing and explosive weapon shenanigans, but not game breaking just annoying.
Now that the cat is out of the bag I can still say this game is one of the best earlier FPS games and Nightdive did it's part too. Still tons of weird levels and "gotcha" traps but it comes with the territory. If a Star Wars game fan this is one of the MUST PLAYS.

Overall a fun retro Star Wars game. Only annoying thing is this is a "where the frick do I go/do" kinda game. Sometimes to continue on, you have to literally take leaps of faith, look for every nook and cranny, etc. There are some parts that are straight up near impossible to figure out without a guide or dozens of hours of trial and error. Most everything else about the game is great though.

A fun nostalgic romp through a classic FPS. I still remember when the game came out in 1995, for my birthday I got a note saying "May the Dark Forces be with you in about two weeks!!" I loved (and still do love) Star Wars and this was the first FPS that came out in that IP, so it was super exciting to be able to romp around and shoot Storm Troopers in Imperial Bases and such. It's also pretty cool that though this game isn't canon in the larger Star Wars universe, elements of it like the Dark Trooper were added in games like SWGOH and eventually The Mandalorian.
The remaster does a good enough job updating it to run smoothly on new machines, considering it was built to run on DOS when it released. It ran smooth with no hiccups or real glitches. Texture and sound wise, everything is exactly the same. Textures look ok from far, but far from good up close (to be expected since it's 30 years old).
It's probably worth the price of admission if you were like me and played this when you were young, it's fun to relive those memories again. If you can nab it on sale, even better.

Lovely adventure with a simple, fun story and addictive gunplay. The puzzles and occasional platforming bring a welcomed variety to the gameplay loop and add to the feeling of infiltrating secret bases and facilities. Said puzzles, coupled with the charming hand-drawn pixelated graphics, make it feel like the closest thing we've ever gotten to an old-school LucasArts Star Wars graphic adventure; which is great praise in my book.
The level design can be labyrinthian at times, but it rarely, if ever, generates the same levels of annoying disorientation that could create the mazes in other titles from its very same series (I'm looking at you, Jedi Knight and Outcast).
Overall, a great, laid-back, time for fans that can put up with the design quirks of a game from the 90s.
