if youre buying this for the arcanist class i hope you only want to be damage and shoot a beam, or be healer and shoot a beam because thats all he can do, he has a lot of really cool moves in theory but all his buffs last 5 seconds max. really disappointing to have all these really cool ancient rune armor shields and buffs that all look amazing just for it to run out as soon as your guy lowers his hand from casting it, fix that and this class would be really solid, until then its just aggravating and makes all his moves feel useless or at the very least incredibly annoying.

Arcanist is a blast to play, quite distinct from the other classes. Haven’t finished the entire story just yet but Apocrypha is beautiful.

So, as of reviewing the DLC seems like it should be excellent, but I gotta warn you, a lot of the dialogue is missing, and the dailies are impossible solo. So I'd look into if they've fixed those before purchasing. If they were fixed then it would be amazing! ^^ Edit: They have now fixed the dialogue missing, and the story is superb, if you don't mind dailies requiring grouping up (and not being super rewarding) then I'd say it's a wonderful purchase for the right price! ^^

Wait to buy this as the sound is gone for the main quest and won't be fixed until the next major update which will be August 21. If I had known, I would've waited.

The bad thing about this dlc is that the main plot doesn't conclude inside the chapter itself, is just another prelude for a multi dlc story arc that will force you to buy more of them (if you whant to reach the end of the story). Beside that, what really piss me off is that this chapter isn't even cheap, I paid 40 euros for this half baked capitalistic scam. F U Bethesda

Don't bother. Customer service is atrocious. They do everything they can to avoid providing any help. Stole 3 months of ingame credits for the monthly membership. I paid three months and only received a months worth credit. Its obvious I was subscribed but customer service wanted me to prove it. As if they couldn't see I had all the content that comes with a subscription. GO elsewhere and subscribe to a game that will provide you what you pay for.

I'm giving Necron a "pretty good/much better than the last chapter". Thumb up #1: If you are into lore, the main quest feels like a real Elder Scrolls story. Instead of prancing around sunflowers and getting involved with political coups (sigh), you're crawling around haunted libraries and killing daedra. Big improvement there imo. Thumb up #2: The companions you get with Necron do not make me cringe. They have much better lines and the voice actors for these two characters rock. I have turned the companion dialog option all the way up for the first time ever. Overland content is stupid easy, so I value do-not-make-me-cringe-personality over min/maxing companion builds and both of the new guys are good for chill game play. I feel Zos really nailed the cold-blooded yet charismatic Argonian with Sharp. Well done there. Thumb Up #3: The Arcanist has actual class identity. I feel like we lost that with all the other classes when everything went hybrid. That hasn't changed; all the other classes still feel same-y. But the new Arc's feel like something different. Their spell animations are fantastic, the crux building is a unique class resource (like what you see in nearly every other mmo), and their play style isn't as dependent on weaving. I really hope the legacy classes get updated to e more like this new class. Thumb down #1: PvP is still broke. No love for PvP in this chapter. Again. Thumb down #2: Zos did not go far enough. Somebody said to me "they played it safe" and I totally agree. The game has suffered for years and while Necron is a good step in the right direction, it's not enough. If you are totally invested in ESO like me (Edited: hours in game is 6k hrs) then you'll want Necron. It will make you feel better about the game you've wasted your life on. If your thinking about jumping in for the first time.. meh. Wait for a sale.

I have to say I was disappointed with the main quest of this expansion. The pacing was horrendous, with the majority of the story investigating a mystery that doesn't even get properly resolved in this chapter. The missions felt like they were just stringing the player along. Weird "fetch" objectives where you go interact with three random things for no reason, just to progress, were oddly common in the quests as well. The main villains were very underdeveloped, with Peryite getting a grand total of 2(!) lines in the entire story. The "grand" twist at the end was delivered in a weird way, and is actually sort of lame when you think about it (Trying not to spoil anything). Furthermore, the great, big, grand twist only has like 2 lines of explanation before the game tells you to basically come back next year for the rest of the story. Yes, the expansion ends in a cliffhanger, and while they got rid of the "year long story" aspect, the expansion ends literally the same way as the year long story ones: A cliffhanger, and a half-hearted party about how cool the player is for saving the day, with NPCs basically saying "Oh yeah just wander around until the next expansion, we'll let you know when the world ends again". I think ESO stories are known for having annoying NPCs at this point, but this expansion's was extra grating. There's a "Watchling" who speaks in the most grating, bored teenager voice that I genuinely do not understand why she was voiced that way. There's a young Dark Elf who's entire personality is that he has a Twitch streamer haircut and has a crush on Leramil. And Leramil, the main NPC of the expansion, while being relatively inoffensive, also seemed weird to me. She pulls out increasingly powerful and absurd spells, and I thought the story would eventually reveal something about how she can just bend reality however she wants, but it never goes anywhere. I guess she is just casually that powerful? Who knows. The last NPC, a ghost of a Telvanni, had a humorous intro, and I thought he would be interesting. But they never follow up on his portrayal in his intro, and he becomes a fairly boring yet tolerable character. All in all, this expansion was greatly disappointing for me, especially since I hoped scrapping the "year long story" thing would make for a fresher, better story experience. It is possible that ZoS might have changed focus from year long stories into this multi-year long story approach during mid-development, and that's why the pacing and such might have been affected. But either way, I personally cannot recommend Necrom if you're buying these expansions for their main quests.

The game was good. I shied away from MMO's because of pay to win and ignorant people but I thought I found a good thing here and enjoyed it for years. I am poor with 3 kids so I do not have much money and gaming is not really in the budget however I had no problem paying the monthly subscription for ESO+. I could never really afford crowns they are expensive but I love the items in the crown store so I got really good at making gold, the ingame currency and loved that I was able to acquire crownstore items by trading my gold for crown store items. Now that ZOS has put an end to that and pretty much discriminating against those without the means to obtain crowns I am left being disgusted with the game. I have supported and understood most of ZOS decisions even when most did not but I just can't on this. As a player who has done everything in the game this is the end for me.

Necrom is something of a return to form for ESO DLC content; it shows that Zenimax actually does listen to what the players want in some regard. Positives: - New class. - No more of the “year-long adventure” nonsense, always hated those. - Fun main quest, much more interesting than the previous four. - Lots of new sets and mythics to collect, as well as other collectibles. Negatives: - Some parts feel somewhat unfinished / rushed (e.g. only two collectible motifs, compared to many more in previous DLCs). - The ever-increasing dependency on previous DLCs to access new content, such as digging up antiquities or the card drops. - Recycled assets from the Morrowind and Deadlands expansions. It would have been nice if the Telvanni Peninsula had a more unique identity rather than just being a clone of Vvardenfell, something more akin to how Tamriel Rebuilt portrayed it would have been much better. All in all, Necrom’s not perfect, but it’s a step in the right direction, which gives me hope for future ESO expansions.
