I can see WHY it's everyone's favourite. But for me, too much was different. Perhaps that's on me because I jumped into this one straight after completing the 2nd game. Still had a fun experience for the most part however!

Absolutely Cinema (Kojima face). There's so much to talk about this game. The story is just amazing, giving birth to so many beloved and vivid character. Besides the plot which have been discussed and interpreted over and over on Internet, i think speedrun in EEX is another appeal of the game, to utilize the resources, the techniques in the most efficient way. It is about to what extend you have grasped the game mechanism (like if u get hold of the enemy surveillance range, then u can elude a lot of combats;or just knowing holding a grenade can eliminate the footstep sound helps a lot). I recommend 3 times playthrough: one for the plot , second one for exploring more possibility from this game, and the third times for challenging yourself. Have fun with this masterpiece!

Playing these games again as an adult is actually really cool. I'm actually able to retain and understand the information I'm being given. lol Gotta say though, at the beginning of the actual game, they're way too hung up on their own personal reasons for being on the mission. Like, the threat of being killed if you fail or losing your medical license is kinda overshadowed when you will LITERALLY ENTER WORLD WAR III AND CAUSE A NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST BY FAILING! But you know... firing squad for you if you fail!

Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the best video games ever made, and with a couple of quick mods this is the best version of it.. Anyone who says otherwise didn't take the 10 minutes to google, download, and install them. Admittedly, Konami is ass for not just delivering the game in an acceptable state, but this is the best we're gonna get. If you've played MGS3 before, you know what to expect, so don't hesitate. This version is great. It just needs a couple of quick fixes out of the box. If you've never played MGS3, you are in for a treat. This game is so good that I was compelled to hunt down every single achievement, and in the 20 years since achievements became a part of modern gaming, I have never done that.

A really fun game. While in MGS1 and MGS2 intriguing plot is overwhelmed by camp and interesting and unique mechanics are overwhelmed by often annoying outdated game design, MGS3 strikes a way better balance

One of the best stories ever told in gaming but also quite flawed (it's not the gameplay) 4th best metal gear game. 8.5/10

Great game, though not as memorable as MGS1 or MGS2 for me personally as the story is not as interesting as the first 2 games. The subsitence camera control updates go a long way from the initial release on PS2. Mostly due to the more open environments in this game compared to the previous entries. Worth checking out and a great addition to your library for MGS fans.

METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater – Master Collection Version is a faithful re-release of one of the most iconic stealth action games of all time, preserving the brilliance of Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece while bringing it to a new generation of players on modern platforms. This version doesn't overhaul the original in dramatic ways, but instead focuses on making the classic experience more accessible with higher resolution and stable performance, all while retaining the intricate systems, rich narrative, and atmosphere that made the 2004 original a landmark in gaming history. Set during the Cold War in the 1960s, Snake Eater follows the legendary operative Naked Snake (later known as Big Boss) on a covert mission in the Soviet jungle to rescue a scientist and stop a nuclear catastrophe. What unfolds is a deeply layered story filled with betrayal, political intrigue, philosophical themes, and character development that solidified Snake Eater’s place as one of the greatest stories ever told in a video game. The game's ability to blend cinematic storytelling with meaningful gameplay is unmatched, and this Master Collection version keeps every scene, codec call, and monologue intact—still powerful, even after nearly two decades. Gameplay remains focused on stealth, survival, and tactical decision-making. Unlike other Metal Gear titles, Snake Eater emphasizes outdoor stealth with camouflage, stamina management, and wildlife interaction. Players must adapt to their environment using different camo patterns, hunt for food to keep Snake’s stamina high, and even treat injuries manually—elements that create a strong sense of immersion. The jungle isn’t just a backdrop; it’s an active, unpredictable part of the gameplay loop that rewards patience, creativity, and planning. The stealth mechanics are slower and more methodical compared to modern action games, but they reward players who take their time and use the tools at their disposal wisely. Boss fights in Snake Eater are legendary for their design and variety. Encounters like The End, a sniper duel that can last over an hour, or The Boss, a dramatic, emotionally charged final battle, are not just gameplay peaks but narrative milestones. These fights are masterclasses in pacing and tone, and they demonstrate how Kojima and his team blurred the line between gameplay and storytelling in ways few developers have managed since. The Master Collection version retains all of these moments in their full form, delivering the same tension, challenge, and emotional impact as the original release. Graphically, the Master Collection version upgrades the game to run at higher resolutions and with smoother frame rates, but it is essentially the original title with minimal enhancements. While character models and environments show their age, the art direction holds up remarkably well. The cinematic camera work, use of color, and memorable soundtrack—including the unforgettable Bond-inspired title song—still deliver a powerful aesthetic punch. However, it’s worth noting that the collection doesn’t offer a full remake or remaster treatment; this is more of a polished port than a reimagined experience. The UI, controls, and menus are also largely untouched, which can be a double-edged sword. Purists will appreciate the authenticity, but newcomers may find the controls clunky by modern standards. Some camera angles and button mappings feel dated, and while the game is entirely playable, it would have benefited from optional quality-of-life improvements. Still, once the initial adjustment phase passes, the mechanics become second nature and add to the game’s charm and depth. In conclusion, METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater – Master Collection Version is both a preservation effort and a celebration of one of gaming’s most influential titles. It offers the definitive way to experience this Cold War-era epic on modern PCs, with its unforgettable characters, gripping stealth gameplay, and timeless story all intact. While it may not be a full-scale remake or boast contemporary graphics, its core design and storytelling continue to shine. For fans of the series, it's a nostalgic return to greatness; for newcomers, it's a must-play experience that reveals why Snake Eater is often considered the high point of the Metal Gear saga.
