Really glad I bought this. I already had the 86 which was included in one of the WCML products and was treating this as a £3.99 livery pack in the summer sale. It is a bit more than that - it feels better to drive.
I have all of the current WCML routes - Glasgow to Carlisle, Carlisle to Preston and Stafford to Rugby. This really fits in with all of those routes with liveries from BR Blue, through the freight liveries to the current Freightliner and the bang up to date Powerhaul. This model also allows you to take advantage of the other repaints about on the Internet.
Really worth a pop at under four quid in the sale.

This is a great little pack - low in price, nice variety of 86's in various liveries from different periods, good simulation, & a nice selection of scenarios for a great route (the original WCML North). Only one complaint though - just like all 86's & 87's in TS, the sounds are dire. Generic horn & a howl of pain, unlike the howl of a real AC Electric. Trust me, you need the AP Sound Pack (this can be said of many TS Loco's, but this is a prime example).
Apart from that, I really recommend this one! Adds a lot variety & colour to this section of the West Coast Mainline.

This to me is the ultimate BR electric engine, the howling of the engine, the regen brakes, the crackle of the pantograph and the hum of 25Kv being rectified a mere 3 ft above you adds to the great ambience of this train which despite being withdrawn by BR, still has many privately owned engines in long term contracts because they are that reliable in real life.
In a way, this is to electric traction, what the 37 or 47 was for diesel and a culmination of several classes 80-85 that led to this final design, it carried on its legacy too with the 87 and the 90, the tap changer control is very hard it seems to master but when you do, it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment and you really do feel "in control".
This is for me a must have if you are a fan of British engines from the blue era.

this loco is ok its not the best and also not the worst the model of the loco is ok for it being an RSC model and the date it was made however the sounds and physics as usual are terrible all there is for sounds is an constant fan noise with no traction motor whine with default track sounds that's it when the loco starts moving physics are like theres nothing behind it
one thing that is nice about this loco is the tab changer functionality and the multiple liveries included which helps in scenario variety on routes something DTG forgot about moving forwards
to make this pack worth while its worth getting the Fantastic AP Enhancement Pack for this loco updates the loco to make it look like an new model when it isnt

It's not my cup of tea, but if you have the Flat Wagon sound pack from AP, the FSA will have better sounds, I recommend the AP 86 EP, because it better, has more liveries and is a must.
Overall: If I had to rate it, I'd say 5/10, If you have this only, and still have over £15 left, get the 86 EP from AP. Only grab it in sales, then grab the 86 EP.

This really annoys me about this game; I already own the Class 87 but many of the scenarios I wish to download use the Class 86 - so, having purchased this I find that the model is ok, but the virtual cab is limited in its usability with many switches not usable - I also find that many of those scenarios use the Class 86 Express which apparently is another purchaseable product (???) so again, the scenario is not usable (even after refereshing the Cache).... Dovetail you are nickle and dimming us to death.. how about instituting a mininal standard of usability that includes realtisc sounds where possible, and all or most switches in the virtual cab working - I mean the cab light doesn't even work for crying out loud !!
I cannot recommend this model even at the reduced price... when others are clearly streets ahead in their content - but again here is the rub - to get anything useful out of any scenarios that you want to experience, using other (better) trains in a scenario, , you have to purchase this or learn how to delete this train within the scenario.. something I don't have time to do or have the inclination to learn to do.

Great loco, its takes a lot of practice to get used to the tap changer, but after watching and reading how to use it, its my favourite loco as there's more work to do than any of the other locos. I recommend getting the Armstrong Powerhouse sounds for this as it definatley add realism to the game.

Probably my most used locomotive addon. The pack comes with a good variety of liveries, the sounds are okay to say the least (much better with the Armstrong Powerhouse soundpack), the texture mapping makes reskinning very easy and the tap changer control system is extremely well simulated. The only issues I have with the locomotive is not many switches in the cab operate and the locomotive is not compatible with the neutral sections on the WCMLoS and WCMLTV.
I'd recommend you buy this excellent addon. I give it 8/10.
