I really like the fact that the start up sounds a bit different than most SD40-2's start up sounds. The bell also sounds different but the horn is still the defalt from Trainz or any other train simulator game. The freight cars do look really nice. My favorite is the Center Beam because the blue on it looks really good and it make me think of the GT (Grand Trunk) RailRoad Line. The only thing is the freight cars are the same ones that come with the BNSF SD75 locomotive Add-On, so if you get the BNSF SD75 before the CN SD40-2W, do not because you'll just spend your time looking for the freight cars that come with the CN SD40-2W Add-On. All in all i give it a 9/10 for great different sounds and the freight cars.

I bought this during the sale, and the freight cars aren't there! I don't know why some people have them, but others don't, but that is sort of the main reason I bought this. I was very disappointed to find this. I even checked the files for this addon, and nothing.

Just a fantastic loco, looks great, feels great! My only complaint is that it has to much torque, but that's all.

Unfortunately I feel this loco is too much like the default Kuju SD40-2 and isn't really justified to be it's own DLC.

For anybody who can't find the wagons...The Loco itself is in RSC/SD40WnPack01 and the wagons are located separately in RSDL/USWagons01

Potentially false advertising. Description lists the following content, which may not necessarily be evident in-game:

89Ft Flatcar
4 Chute Covered Hopper
Centre Beam Flatcar
If you enter the scenario editor and enable only SD40WnPack01 in the content selection menu, only the locomotive will be available. I've since been informed that the cars should appear under the name USWagons01 in the RSDL folder. I did check through additional folders (without success) as it's not unknown for TS DLCs to be fragmented like this, but since I've refunded the product I can't confirm whether this content is correctly given upon purchase, as it's also not unknown for such 'sub-DLCs' to not be properly associated with accounts sometimes. The locomotive itself is very similar to the Norfolk Southern high nose SD40-2 with the same release date. Very basic, with on/off-only lights, no notch numbers on the controls, no instrument lighting, etc.. It appears that changes to the core game over time have made the external model render quite darkly with a 'baked' pre-shaded look. The internal cab model is actually modified in CN style, which might be the only decent thing about it, but with that internal view missing basic features it's rather pointless.

Love Canada's re-builds of American locos, the wide-nose conversions are my favorite :). this is a perfect addition to my CN collection and looks fantastic with the zebra paint schemes and lighting i've installed for it. hope to see more of these Canadian locomotives in the future such as the SD60f and GP40-2L. only downside to this locomotive in my opinion is that the marker lights next to the number boards don't work and still uses the default sounds from the earlier version of the sim; railworks :( but i'm sure there is a sound enhancement pack roaming around the web somewhere.

As an actual CN rail conductor i must say good job, this is a pretty good model of a SD40-2W. the only things missing is the conductors side desk that is pull out from the side and the hot plate near the conductor side windows.

Okay, where to start? Firstly, it is in CN paint, which is cool, but would like to have seen earlier CN "Zebra" paintscheme as well. A nicely modeled engine, in my opinion: Pros: An excellent cabview, a nice change from the regular SD40. All features of the real thing seem to be there, accurate horn placement, class lights, and winterization hatch over air intake. The paintjob is very well done... Cons: The horn and bell sounds are, well, default SD40 sounds, so.... The actual engine sounds like the GP40 from the Portland Terminal, so not very realistic there. The brakes kind of suck. When you turn the wipers on, and view them outside, they go really fast, and look kind of stupid. The bell does not physically move when it is ringing, so... All and all, I would recommend this engine, but only if it is on sale, because I think it needs a little work... (surprise)
