This mod would be so much better if it didn't have a loco for every car that you have in your consist.

Steam says it is installed yet I can not find it in the game. Tried verifying local files more than once, still nothing. I'm in need of help :(

- No notch labels on throttle and dynbrake.
- Only two settings for lights: off and on. On lights up both the front and back sets, including ditches.
- Horn and sander stick on if you use the in-cab controls instead of hotkeys.
- Couplers are very stretchy. Hard braking can make multiple locos in a row clip into each other.
+ Fairly nice models despite age, for both the loco and cars. Good as AI and helper engines.
+ 90% off on sales. I would've refunded this but for $1 it's pretty okay for the cars.

Okay loco, but NO SCENARIOS? That's not acceptable. I got this to use some workshop scenarios, but fully expect DTG scenarios for my purchase.

This is a mixed bag and depending on what you want out of a locomotive package then you'll either be satisfied or disappointed with little in between. Currently I'm satisfied despite being disappointed with some flaws.
PROS:
Nice modeling and paint on the locomotive overall, rustic and aged looking.
Handles about like you would expect from an SD40-2 series.
Great sound effects, some of the best, engine sounds realistic, bell is good and horn is legit.
Has gauge lights, always-on by default.
CONS:
No weather effects.
Not much interaction in the cab, just the basic controls.
No cab lights, but does have gauge lights so night drives are possible.
Couplers prone to stretch and rubber-band.
No scenarios or wagons included.
Headlights visible on train, but do not light up track ahead of the train at night. Odd.
This otherwise fine package seems to suffer from some of the same problems the SD70 V2 package suffers from. Lack of weather effects and suspect coupling that can look odd at times under full power or lead to a derailment if you need to make an abrupt or emergency stop. Drive this locomotive with patience and let the speed build up over time when pulling out, as your speed builds then increase the notches and then power as required to maintain speed limit. Let the speed bleed off when slowing or stopping, avoid abrupt stops if possible. Those wish for some nice drives at night will be disappointed with the exterior lights on train. Despite no cab lights, interior has some ambient lighting to see around you, see controls for most part, etc. Gauge lights work great and are always on. Headlights turn on, both front and rear at same time, but they are cosmetic only and do not light up the outside areas beyond the train itself. As such, unless you like driving without headlights lighting up the track, then you'll just be using this train for daylight hauls.
I'm recommending as I feel the pros outweigh the cons enough. It's a fair weather, daytime locomotive. If you're ok with that, then you might like it. The sounds are awesome, sounds very much like the Norfolk Southern trains that pass by daily just 2 to 3 miles from my location. I would say the sounds are the best part followed by the overall look and feel of the locomotive. Operationally it's fine, so if you can live with the cons, then get it.

Its ok. I feel like they could have put more effort into this one. I really do not like the bell. The horn is pretty good but it's used on so many other US diesels that I would think they would have gone with something different for a change. It also does not come with any scenarios. I do like the way it pulls and looks, it's just the sounds that dissappoint me really.

This is a great loco to me. I think it was worth it and I modded it so it doesn't have that weird ship bell and an acutual EMD prime mover sounds, here's the links to the sounds: Engine:http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/download-library/sounds-enhancements?view=document&id=616:emd-sd40-sound-pack&catid=25:sounds The Horn:http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/download-library/sounds-enhancements?view=document&id=1411:nathan-p3-horn-sound&catid=25:sounds. Bell:http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/download-library/sounds-enhancements?view=document&id=1153:mega-horn-pack-v2-1&catid=25:sounds. There are a few bells and quite a few great horns. I put the CP E-Bell on it.

As this an old DLC and doesn't meet today's standards, you should only buy it when on sale. But it's drivable just like your Kuju SD40-2.
BUT: It does come with four actually quite good scenarios for the original, now unavailable Castle Rock Railroad. They work perfectly with the workshop version of Castle Rock Railroad if you just move them over into the corresponding Routes\Scenarios folder.
Standard: [NS HighNose] Cats and Dogs
Standard: [NS HighNose] Cement Puzzle
Standard: [NS HighNose] Here to Help
Free Roam: [NS HighNose] Larkspur in Fall
Interestingly enough, the scenarios are mentioned neither in the description nor the manual.
