This is an odd one for me to write about as I disgaree with other reviews. Standard mode works, just! But sometimes it will freeze? Advanced mode... Friggin nightmare! Half the scenario's don't even load. Keeping boiler pressure is damn near impposible on an incline, as you can only set the regulator in three positions! I only spent £1.20 on this during the September sale, so I'm not that upset. What does grind me is the fact if you paid list price for this you'd be, well, pissed!
Quick drive does work, I've used it on Western Lines of Scotland and had a blast with it.
My advice, get in a sale, and be aware of what you are getting before you purchase, maybe have a look around the workshop first too see what customer scenario's have been done. As most likely they will be better than DTG's! That should tell you a thing or two!

The steam locomotive is not your ordinary steaming type in the game. It have steam brakes and feel like a real tank engine. The sound is okay and enjoy driving it, especially on hilly tracks, quite difficult.

lovley loco and sounds, although whenever i click on it in free roam, it goes nuts.
I reccomend this if u have a lot of memory

This loco has looks and power. You dont even need full reg and go slow on the sspped and this thing just goes off like its a normal day nearly hitting 10 mph in 4 seconds. ((At least in my experience driving it.))

I like that you get both advanced and standard versions of the J94, however both are flawed in some way:
In the standard version, a lot of animations are missing:

[*] the sliding window on the roof cannot be closed (while it can on the advanced version)
[*] whistle, cylinder cocks and safety valve produce no visible steam (while they work prefectly on the advanced version and the effects are really satisfying)
[*] the standard version's firebox will emit no red light when open (again, while the advanced one's does and it's stunning)
[*] the standard version will produce no particle effects while the sander is being used (once again, unlike the advanced version).

On the other hand, while more aesthetically pleasing, the advanced version suffers from two major flaws:

[*] the reverser lever appears to be jammed and cannot move from the middle position
[*] attempting to apply the emergency brakes will crash the game

On top of that, both models feature no head lamps or tail lamps.
Now, being the advanced version... uhm, [b][i]advanced[/i][/b], the reverser issue could be caused by me being unaware of some procedure needed in order to unlock it, if so then it does not count as a flaw, but I'd really like to know what to do.
So why am I recommending this?
Well, this could be one of the most interesting DLCs out there, it just needs some attention from the devs and a few fixes.

Basically what appears to be a slightly updated J94 as seen in the Memories of Maerdy addon (as far as I can tell). A great little addon, if you don't want to get the Maerdy addons, and especially if you're an LNER fan (which I am!). Another fine addon from MeshTools, with good sound, nice scripting, and all the things you come to expect from a more advanced addon.

This pack is a bargain at the price. If you are new to driving the Pro versions I recommend reading the manual, particularly regarding how the notched reverser is operated. Once understood and practiced, the loco is easy to drive. The only disappointment for me is that not all of the controls can be manually operated or show animations even in the Pro versions.
The real J94 locos were rugged and powerful, but simply built as might be expected from a wartime austerity design. They could be found virtually anywhere, particularly in the East and North, carrying out the heavy shunting and short-haul mineral and industrial duties for which they were designed. Many were also in private and Coal Board ownership and some of these survived into the 1980s, long after the end of steam on British Rail. I'm old enough to remember them at work!
As well as being fun to drive, I find them useful as 'period' AI traffic for some of my steam-era scenarios.

I have had this loco about 12months now, ive had no problems or bugs whilst using this DLC although i only drive the advanced model.Model is very nice has are the textures,when your in the cab, textures give the impression this engine is well used.cab lighting when driving at night is great unlike some other DLC that has no lighting.Ithink the sounds for this DLC are some of the best ive heard, this old girl certainly makes a good deal of noise.Once you sus out the balance between regulator and reverser you can handle the inclines on the woodhead route with ease although coming to a stop with the steam brake takes some practice to get spot on but the steam brake simulation seems to be very good.Manual for this DLC is very good also.I personaly can find nothing wrong with this DLC my score is 10/10.

Nice little locomotive but is different from usual steam locomotives in its controls. The reverser has a locking mechanism (pressing E releases the lock)
