I think it's an interesting and great looking engine with decent strength, but man some of the sounds are just awful; like jesus, one of them sounds like a gun shot from a cartoon, and it was the first thing I heard when I loaded in the game; I thought someone was shooting me.
I do NOT recommend this Add-On at full price.

Cool model but really slow and gutless. It has a lot of cool features , windows open and even has a roof hatch and a cabin light, you can even sit in the caboose, The sounds it makes are the worst.I always liked the sounds that a steam engine makes but not this one. After about 5 or ten minutes of it I'am ready to shoot myself.I'am glad I didn't pat full price and even at 40% off it was to much money.I with I could get my money back Base on that I can't recomend this engine.

The Cab Forward is a good steam engine to drive. However, the water level and boiler pressure values on the F4 HUD do not match the values on the F5 hud which is very dangerous on a steam locomotive like the cab forward when the correct water level and boiler pressure are critical, the train brakes are completely shoddy, the loco refuses to fill up it's water capacity and it suffers blowback in the tunnel, even with the firebox door closed which is not on. So unfortunately I will have to take 5 marks off for that. Despite these shoddy flaws, I would still recommend this unique one of a kind steam engine. A solid halfway range 5/10 from myself.

Good game, but is way overpriced. Each time I buy a new DLC, it's about the same cost as buying a brand new game. Although, I really enjoy this loco and the scenarios it provides. I regret it when I pay but I can enjoy it as long as I want after.

Many lovers of trains may have a favorite steam locomotive. Its type may depend on its whistle, power, etc. My favorite is the Cab Forward. It's a unique, hulking locomotive that screams American innovation and problem-solving. It's sad to see that there is only one that still remains, but it's better than there being none left. I hope to see 4294 restored.
So how well is the locomotive recreated in Train Simulator? It gets a pass, but it's not perfect content. The model for the locomotive is done very well, don't get me wrong. It's the sounds that I don't favor that much about the DLC. The sounds do sound good, but it's not what you would expect from such a large locomotive. Possibly, the developers tried their best to replicate the locomotive's sounds, and for that I thank them. You should still get this locomotive despite its sounds, especially if you already own the Donner Pass route.
And what else can I say? The PFE cars for the loco are well done, the scenarios are enjoyable (though I don't play the career versions, I play the standard), and you can make a pretty cool looking freight consist if you have the GS-4 in front (assuming if you already own it). So yeah, get this!

This loco is nice. Developed 2012 so detail level, sound (sounds in TS in general..) etc is not maximal, but still I enjoy it.
Only bigger issue is that on some routes tunnels cause fatal blowback, and as per this loco manual, there is no way how to close "firedoor". If anyone did some patch for this let me know (cannot drive on GTrax-Cascadian for example)

This is one of my favorite locomotives in real life, as well as in the game. On sale, I think this sells for around $7, which is a pretty reasonable price. However, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. This is an old dlc, and the cab interior looks very dated but does feature some nice details such as a working cab light and the ability to open and close windows. The whistle is alright; it sounds better than the one on the challenger and is altogether superior to the one on the big boy. The career scenarios are excruciatingly difficult and frustrating, and I would wager that the number of people who have completed them with a gold star is less than one. There are standard versions of the scenarios, and I would recommend playing those because the career ones are not worth your time. There are a few workshop scenarios available for this as well. Overall, there aren't many American steam locomotives made for Train Simulator, and if that's what you're into, you should definitely get this dlc. But as with every Train Simulator dlc, only buy when it is on sale.
