A good route, with some nice detailing. The trains are nicely modelled but, personally, I feel the interior winscreen of the class 377 is too narrow, too much of the grey walling on either side. This may be a perspective issue but as a driver of 377's in real life the windscreen's seem much wider.

One of my favourite routes yet, its clear that effort has been put in to this map (sometimes rare for DTG) and the trains included sound just like the real Class 377's coming in and out of London Victoria. I also own the PDL which means that I can drive the Class 450 through Clapham, but if you don't own the PDL then there is still an AI only Class 450 which makes it look realistic. There are many small stations in between the express stops, leaving a wide range of driving to do. There are even AI planes that fly in to Gatwick!! Buy it in a sale and you'll have a decent map to drive around.

I recently bought this route while it was in the steam winter sale for half price.
It was well worth it.
The career scenarios play very nicely and it looks and runs very well.

A well designed addon, i know im late to posting about it but i thought why not...
I use to travel this journey every weekend once upon a time from Welham Green all the way to Falmer to visit my girlfriend at Uni. That was probably 4 train changes back then i think but nonetheless a route a came to know very well. I must say it is very accurate and a massive upgrade to the old MS Train Sim London Brighton addon. I will say the Brighton terminus could so with a little update as its atad out of date scenery visual wise but the biggest annoyance is the over lingering Gatwick Airport aircraft sounds that go on wayyyyyy to long almost to the point of pulling into Three Bridges!? Thats a bug for sure that needs addressing, and the planes that land into the airport look like Airbus A310s....those are some of the rarest aircraft in the world now yet theres a fleet of them about the airport area.
None the less its an addon i really enjoy and will absolutely use for years to come.

I think this is a great route! Certainly one of the best routes. Runs well on my laptop a loads up quite quickly. However, I do feel that this route could do with an update like the Portsmouth Direct Line received as the scenery feels outdated. I think the addition of the Seaford line would be nice and even an extension from Clapham Junction to Shepherds Bush for southern services that travel between Milton Keynes and Clapham Junction and East Croydon. All in all this is a great route especially if you like operating things like the Gatwick Express but an update to the route would be great.

If I was to pick one UK route which is the most fun to drive this would be it. If you really want one route which you want to learn and extend in future London to Brighton is just amazing. Route with great history (have you played the Southern Belle on C64?) and many iconic stations. It's also pretty varied with slow and fast lines, allowing for slow commuters, Gatwick Express trains and also a little longer London to Brigton service. The included EMU is pretty nice too. It's a great start for exploring UK rail.
There is a lot of stock just dedicated to this route that you can buy and they are so fun to drive. Let me just mention Class 73, Class 442 and Class 460. Plenty to chose from.
You can also extend the route in many interesting ways. You can go for Reigate Expansion for another destination. You can also rely on Danny's workshop merges with South London Network - this way you can add for example London Bridge to the route and if you really want to spend some more money - go ahead and buy St. Pancras to Bedford. This way you can drive whole Thameslink service from Brighton to Bedford. Pure fun for 2 and a half hours going through central London on the way. For that you will want dual voltage EMU like Armstrong Powerhouse Class 319 available outside of Steam.
If you just like to drive realistic services from beginning to end this is your way to go. Highly recommended.

The model on the outside is pretty bad but i'll let that slide considering it was made in 2012, But when we go in the cab about 10 things are interactive, Power/Break handle, Key, Direction control, Depot whistle (which sounds like a tube train whistle.), The horn (which has one tone only) Shoes up/down, Sander, AWS, Open doors button and the signal bell, (which is recycled from the class 350 i think and is supposed to sound like a bell). Even though it's 11 years old, it could at least have a manual two tone horn and realistic depot whistle and signal bell. but unless you're wiling to pay another 20 quid for an enhancement pack, it's not worth the money.

L2B is a Love/Hate thing for me, its diabolically optimised, unstable in editor and has a number of corners cut and obvious bugs that have been ignored for years ... However I still love it and I still get good use out of it two years after purchase. dont get me wrong L2B is an addiction. If you want to stock it properly will cost you dearly. If you are interested in Blue or Sector eras Bringing the route up to prototypicality will cost you well over £200 in first and third party DLC. L2B will cost less if you want to use the route in its modern guise but stock is poorly catered for so you may find yourself somewhat limited. ... The route is well catered for in workshop especially if you have invested in stock.
Cons -
*poor optimisation
*chronic lack of portals
*Very unstable in editor, it crashed a lot but there are workarounds if you dont mind delving into the core files
*massive joined up thinking fails, little things like the missing scenic detail at Hove station kill a whole load of operation possibilites.
*Some inexplicable routing bugs
*randomly unresponsive platform markers
*The suicidal zombie pooped pants passengers problem is an epidemic on this route.
Pros - *it just is, trust me buy it and see for yourself
Still one of my top ten favorite routes, London to Brighton is awesome and worth every penny, imagine what it would have been like if some care, attention and joined-up thinking had gone into its development.
