Got it on sale under ten bucks. Valuing the game against this special price, it is great. I'm not super into challenging combat and just want some fun hack and slash experience and I get this from the game. The parry seems forgiving enough to allow me to play through the whole thing smoothly - short and sweet.
The skill tree is good overall but I hit 100% upgrade pretty quickly and then I keep on getting points that I have nowhere to spend... I wish the tree could be bigger.
Technical issues were encountered three times. In chapter two, the graphics became weird yellowish. It made my eyes uncomfortable but the game was playable. In chapter three and four, there are two places where the game kept on crashing due to some LowLevelFatalError... I had to uninstall and reinstall to fix the issue.

I love this game, but I must say it is not for everyone. The combat is not only challenging, it really requires to be learned and mastered before it can feel satisfying. For me that took about half of my first playthrough, so I can see why many people would just quit after an hour.
Initially, the sword and gun attacks felt very weak. Even the basic enemies were like damage sponges. Moves that are often available from the start in many games must be unlocked in the skill tree (such as charge sword attack, running jump attack and a skill that allow you to just block one melee attack without needing a perfect block). These can be unlocked quite early, but I waited for too long before really using my xp points and that made the first chapters of the game more difficult than it should have been.
The game has a ton of cool and stylish finishers, but these are not just for show. They are the key to efficient combat. It requires you to get good at parry and counters to build up your adrenaline meter, which can then be used to make multiple enemies vulnerable to a string of take-downs. Some skills increase the chances of dismemberment and another skill makes dismembered enemies automatically vulnerable to finishers. Once these are unlocked the combat becomes a lot more fluid and deadly.
My 1st playthrough took me about 15 hours, but I died hundreds of time. The checkpoints are not generous. You will often have a tough miniboss of elite enemies without checkpoint, meaning I had to repeats long stretches of combats dozen of time. But it forces you to learn the combat because you cannot just brute force it between checkpoints. Once mastered, the game can be finished in just a few hours.
Between missions there is the police station to explore with documents to read and lots of cats to see. There are also a surprising amount of minigames for such a small game. There is a crane game machine, karaoke (in German), ramen eating competition and a side-scrolling retro shooter arcade. The storytelling is confusing, but still tells an interesting story. The whole cast of characters is charming and endearing in a quirky and awkward kind of way. I was always looking forward to the next cutscene. The whole thing has a lot of charm, and that is what kept me going even when the initial combat experience was not yet clicking.

I played for 3 hours, and despite the game closing, it was still running in the background and I didn't notice for 23 hours. Games cool though, didn't click until I got through the first stage and got some upgrades, but absolutely has that "early ps3" vibe. really weird and quirky, lots of stuff thrown at the wall, but also really fun with a great core gameplay loop.

I understand why it has mixed reviews now but still I want you to give this game a chance if you miss 2000s games like me. Plot wise don't expect anything good, dialogues are just terrible, but the vibe is good and even though the gameplay has a lot of jank and unresponsiveness to it, if you find the flow you will have a really good time.

I think it's a badly balanced game with quite a bit of jank, but playing it on easy gave me a fun power fantasy adventure.

A true cult classic throwback to the late PS2 or early 360 era. There's really nothing else like it, but there's DNA from several different games in here. The delimb mechanics are a lot like Ninja Gaiden 2, but the combat feels distantly similar to Metal Gear Rising. The minigames are hilarious and feel like something from Yakuza. It's short and sweet, replayable, the soundtrack is a banger, the main cast is hilarious, and the humor overall is very self-aware (shout-out to the Supa Hot Fire meme making an appearance in the loading screens). Delightfully jank.

Want my review, simple is funny action and typical hack n slash.
I personally wouldn't suggest this game to anyone, im a big fan of hacknslash games with intense game play and flashy moments but the game-play feels horrible, the inputs feel heavy and delayed, CPU moves like they are CPU, and the actual flow of combat feels horrible, shooting is really bad, and controls just doesn't feel goods on keyboard or controller. its a lowbuget yakuza game, so all n all just play a Yakuza game

The game needs a little bit polishing but overall nice. Story is a bit shorter than usual but good. Got some Suicide Squad vibe but way cooler.

Bizarre fever nightmare…
Abysmal voice acting and cutscenes
Random anime and shower moments
Cool combat but rinse and repeat game structure… And I love it ;) 10/10

Feels like a Suda game, takes a bit to get into and for it to start making sense mechanically. After a while you'll be slicing and dicing and having a blast though. It genuinely has a really rough start though.
