As said by many people it's fun for like 30min then you relise u can run staright skip enemies fight when forced to and it's easy some bosses are just plain too easy other's are too hard soo ye no sense comparing it to hollow knight or ori it's muuch closer to hades but even there the combat and evrything is just better

I love the style, the fluidity of the gameplay and the ideology behind the game. It is worth playing it just for the unique vibe and silly (yet apt) take on societal problems & capitalism.
Lots of variety in weapons & choices during each repeat run.
Main problem is the lack of any significant permanent character improvement. Which makes progression a matter of improving skill and having luck with the rng in any given run. Also making it feel more repetitive because you miss that feeling of 'hell yes, this is starting level feels trivial now, where once it was crazy hard!'
Very punishing because of that.

Combat feels very good and fluid. The problem is the environment and enemy’s. The environment stays the same colors and graphics for all the randomized rooms until you move onto a new location, which all suffer from the same problem. Also, with each location having not a lot of enemy variety, the game becomes boring despite the engaging combat.

Have a Nice Death is fun for a couple of hours .
It's a real rogue-like, not rogue-lite, you have no persistent upgrades, each run depends on the RNG of the drops. This is a major drawback for me. I feel like I make no progress unless i get lucky, and the offer to change to easy mode is condescending.
The bosses are very creative, but pretty hard. Pretty much impossible to beat at the first try, unless you have ungodly amount of damage (like i had a bazooka once which made things easy). This is a problem. If you reach a boss in a 30 min run for the first time, there is no way in hell you will beat it in the first try, and so to reach it and learn the fight, you have to get lucky and have another 30 min just to try again. Something like checkpoint system would be nice before the boss. The game should not feel like work, now it kind of does. Maybe that's the point, but in that case it's not for me.
Lack of ranged weapons bothers me, because melee combat is lackluster - no parry, no block, no animation cancel into dodge. If you are in melee - you will take damage, which is not easy to heal.
Movement is limited. Double jump and wall-jump would feel so much better, since there are so many flying enemies. Limited aiming of spells. Mouse is supported but not used for aiming - you shoot/attack where you look only left or right, can't shoot up or down or diagonally, really missed opportunity.
Hollow Knight and especially Ori did 2D combat so much better it's absurd. I don't see any reason to play this over something like Hades, or if you want 2D - Ori or Hollow Knight.

This is a solid roguelite in a similar vein as Dead Cells or Rogue Legacy with a cool sense of style and a morbid sense of humor. It is really for people who are into platforming and 2d combat with hard-hitting bosses. And the workplace drama is great.
The game itself is fun to play. You start each run from the beginning each time, like a rougelite. And while you can choose the level path you take, it is always the same choices in the same order to change floors each time. While that may seem limiting it does lend itself to making builds, as you know which bosses you will be facing and in which order.
The builds have a lot of room to explore in them. There are a wide variety of items to unlock in terms of basic scythes, spells, and cool-down "cloak" abilities. In addition to that, there are three skill trees to build through each run focused on offense, defense, and spells. All of these things are given to you randomly as you proceed through certain checkpoints in a run, so it stays fresh. Though the randomness can make it hard to pre-plan a build.
Fair warning, I am writing this review after getting the "Finish the Game" achievement. According to steam about 3% of players actually get that. I can sort of see why. Initially the game goes through the Modern Warfare department. But after finishing that once there are a coupe of new areas. And then after finishing that there is a new secret boss that you have to take a few in-run penalties to reach, and finish the normal game to access. It seems easy for folks to not know that there is more game. All together this took me 20 hours according to the in-game clock.
My only real gripe with the game is that a full run takes 45 minutes to an hour. Trying to learn the later bosses can take a fair amount of time just to reach them to check them out again, and bosses are the main difficulty spike in the game. Dead Cells solved this problem with a practice mode to fight the bosses with and this game would benefit from something like that.

This game does not require a single brain cell to play, the level design is boring and repetitive, the enemies are nothing but sponges with health bars, the bossfights are well made and if that was the whole game, I would love it, but as roguelite the game just dissapoints. The artstyle is awesome, the animations are nice and flashy, but there is no feeling of a challenge, making the satisfaction of the combat disappear. After the second death the game offers to switch to easy mode - are you nuts? Isn't dying a MAIN MECHANIC of any roguelike?
