This is easily a downgrade from the first game without a doubt. In order to appease people who found the first game too hard, they incorporated an "Instant Full Heal" ability that you can use at ALL TIMES an INFINITE number of times. The only penalty being it will impact your end score, which doesn't matter because there's no real incentive to go for high scores. This means ANYONE can beat this game if you can press Y > Heal. I'm extra insulted by this, because you'd think hard mode would fix this problem, but it doesn't. You CAN play hard mode with the heal disabled, but it's the complete opposite problem. It is SADISTICALLY hard, expecting you to beat the full game without upgrades, no bonus hp for level ups which makes it near impossible without learning every boss to a T. It's incredibly asinine, the completely broken heal ability being used for hard mode is the only reason its beatable for probably 98% of players. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed, I can see why the community is split on this game. The only thing that is challenging is going for the speedrun achievement by beating the game in less than an hour, but I found that more frustrating than fun honestly.

The game is a pretty fun 2D-platformer with the usual inti-creates vibe that succeeds as a megaman-like but fails as a gunvolt/copen side game, i would get it only if its on sale as it is incredibly short The main thing about this game that will pretty much define if you love it or not is the fact that copen's playstyle has been transformed from its iconic air dashing combos to a more grounded melee approach reminiscent of the megaman Zero days; the bullit dash has been nerfed to 1 dash until touching the ground regardless of if you hit an enemy or not, the only way of chainging dashes in the air is during overdrive (hit 1000 kudos) the story is the weakest part of the game, to the point it may as well not be there making the whole experience feel disconected and inconsecuential to the events of LAiX; this paired with the fact that this is the shortest of the Gunvolt series with few incentives to replay it make it a forgettable entry However, even with the shortcomings of LAiX2 it remains a pretty serviceable platformer to pass the time while also existing as a self contained adventure if youre a fan of the series
