The idea behind this game is amazing, I love it. It definitely needs more missions/random quests. What happens after we loot all building in area? You get there after 40 h of game play or so. Many things were fixed, more need fixing, but all in all... Thumbs up! I hope developer doesn't screw thing up. Can't wait for release :D

The game is ok. Like most say the early game is engaging and you really need to manage your squads and citizens. Late game gets old fast since youll eventually not be able to fend off the large hordes. This game could definitely use alot more tech trees and would be really fun with a bit more automation like turrets and traps etc.
First Impressions
After seeing the negative receptive of Civ VII a game I was excited for I decided to give this a try. Searching around a bit landing on this has given me faith in actually giving early access games a try. Decided to bite the bullet in the first place after seeing the active dev updates and responses to each review showing positivity even towards the usual nitpicky reviews. Through that I was right in my gut feeling they've showed the game so much love. There's many convenient QoL options to manage your base and troops. Although it's very clearly in its early stages without mentioning the early access tag for what is there as of this review I can say there's atleast 10 hours of potential playtime just completing all your goals in-game which isn't half-bad if the experience is enjoyable along the way building up your base to overcome the night cycle waves that get fiercer overtime.
Areas of Improvement
Lack of wood gathering availability to craft costs and upkeep, essentially theres only 2 methods afaik both yield way less resources than the other 3 materials leaving you gatekept for days while you send peons miles away to cut trees or disassemble buildings. This is the biggest issue I've ran into thus far. Pacing is a smidge slower than it should be to keep you engaged in planning your next goal after hit your last, the science research length to get the books and complete the research is the main culprit of this. Watch towers are arguably worse than just sending your fire squad to said horde coming for your town. They don't have great range and take valuable resources to repair. Potentially this'll become better as I progress further in the game, I don't have any expectations based off of my research options though.

I love the progression of the game. I do wish that they come out with more situations and features. The game is still in progress so all of that will come in time.

The game was okay at first, with enough confusion and curiosity to keep me going. Once I scavenged the entire map, and all the outlying regions, the game got really boring. The game is not balanced at all. After all the time I've spent playing, this game is a complete miss. Its boring, repetitive, and the goals aren't clear. It just seems really clunky. Don't waste your money on this trash

Low Visibility / Poor Eyesight Review The game is very grey. There is little to no contrast. The only way i knew i was hovering over a building was the outline and pop-up, which is great and helpful, but not enough to know how many buildings there are around it. The mist that covers everything makes it feel very aesthetic, but removes all visibility and makes the game unplayable for me. I like the idea and the turn based system. I would love to see more distinction between buildings and menu buttons from the background. Edit: After searching through menus I am unable to find a Layers Menu in the game. Searching online leads me to the separate installation of the Map Editor. I still ca not recommend this game at this time

The game does indeed have many issues still, regarding resources or bugs. But do not forget, it is a work-in-progress, that is why it is in EARLY Access. As it still actively working, and new features are added, they have first to be finetuned, to be improved and even revised upon to make them work better. And that is actually a good thing, because it shows, that the develoloper company is actively working on the game. And yes, they are, as the updates show. For the state it is in, and that there are continually updates on progress and release, I can give only a thumbs up, anything else would be unfair. After all, it is a good game with great potential to be great. And let's not forget, games take usually a long time to be developed. Being aware of that, I can recommend the game. The current end-game is disappointing though, as it currently lacking and not possible on hard maps to achieve much. I hope, that this will be majorly revised and allow for more expansion.

The early game is fun, the possibility to create a fortress in your home town is novel and a great idea. The plot is engaging, I like the level of drama, writing, dialog and story, the riders, the military, reminds of State of Decay in several aspects. Why not recommend then? well, the more you play the more you realise about unbalances that will hinder your progress. By the time you hit day 50, most of your wood and metal sources will be depleted. The commute time of your workers increases and each day yields less and less wood and metal. The game difficulty keep rising with more and stronger waves but your possibilities to improve your defences become slimmer with the pass of time. The get-gud mob will tell you that you are playing the game wrong, that you need to start in a forest area or wait for trees to grow, but that kills the most appealing aspect of the game which is playing anywhere in the world. Another cool feature is the possibility to build your own buildings to create "the perfect fortress", but you can't, wood and metal is so scarce that this become no option since you need to focus on repairs (more wood and metal) and defences. The scavenge missions don't yield these basic resources either and deconstructing is too slow to be a viable option. Also, the ratio for resources when deconstructing seems to be 1w, 0.5m, 3b. Your resources panel will soon look like 0 wood, 0 metal, 2000 bricks. If you go to the store page and watch the videos and screenshots you'll realise those are fake and misleading. Check the day counter and the resources available on the top of the screen. It's impossible to have that amount of buildings and vehicles in less than 10 days. Devs said they are aware of "some ppl struggling with resources", so the improvement will be a trader that visits time to time which if find weird, considering wood and metal a valuable resource in an abandoned major city. In my opinion, the difficulty should focus around more zombies, stronger zombies, people getting infected, raiders, etc. not the lack of the most basic resources that are needed for everything. It's an artificial annoying way to make the game harder that leads to frustration. If the game was released last month, ok, these things tend to be unbalanced at the beginning, but it's not the case, it was released 10 months ago. What I truly don't understand is why insisting in not addressing the problem when you have hundreds of posts about it. Exposing a setting to let the user change the yield value of wood and metal is all that is required. The "try-hard" will change nothing, the rest will, everyone happy, more copies sold. The usual argument is that if the game is too easy, ppl with get bored, I agree with that, but there are fun ways to make it harder and obnoxious ways as well. This is obviously my opinion, the game is in EA and chances for this issue to be addressed in the future are still there.
