It's Freedom Fighters, baby!! I am so glad that I bought it on Steam, coz back in the day when I played this game, it ended at the TV station mission. It had rest of the game cut on that disc. so I watched the ending of this game in 2025. WOW!! DAMN! I love this game.
Freedom Fighters – The Game That Almost Made Me Enlist
I booted up Freedom Fighters expecting a fun, old-school shooter. I left ready to defend my country with nothing but a wrench and sheer determination. This game makes you feel like the ultimate resistance leader—recruiting fighters, liberating streets, and somehow surviving an entire enemy army with a backpack full of ammo and blind patriotism. The squad mechanics? Ahead of their time. The action? Chef’s kiss. The side effect? A sudden urge to sign up for boot camp. Verdict: 10/10, almost drafted myself. 🇺🇸🔥

Популярная игра из начала нулевых от разработчиков Хитмана, в которой примеряешь на себя роль партизана в Америке. С большим количеством клюквы! Игра затягивает как геймплеем, так и великолепным саундтреком авторства Йеспера Кюда.

Vash — Today at 12:39 Mario and Luigi fighting communism It's once again a PS2 cult classic that has finally gotten a steam release. it is gorgeous. The soundtrack and presentation really helps this game. the gameplay is not the best in the world, but everything surrounded is in such a high caliber that you cannot stop playing. The story is bare bones, but it is Holden up by the soundtrack and all the small details that changes throughout the game like, the main characters clothes, and how many tents and weapons there are in the hideout. It gives the game enough charm so the story doesn't matter as much. Plus it feels like a very dumb 80s movie and it's awesome. I played the game on freedom fighter difficulty and it was fun, but it's such a different experience from normal difficulty. A normal you can basically play as 80s action movie and have a mindless blast. but on freedom fighter you have to use the squat mechanics as much as possible, They are supposed to take bullet damage and give it, you give the orders. Nice and short experience that doesn't stay out It's welcome. It kind of funny how this game about American freedom is made by some Danish people in Copenhagen but that just makes it more fun. will recommend.

This game is a part of my childhood; when I was a lil kid, I played all the time around, and the soundtracks always gave me goosebumps and horrors. Everyone should play this masterpiece at least once in a lifetime.

Literally as good as i remember it as a child and playing it with my brother. i wish they would remaster it. if i could get a price, i might try to possibly fund it myself and or others. Its still well worth the price it is now of 15 USD. Personally id still pay 60 USD for this.

*SPOILERS* Pros: -The setting is fun and feels like a classic action movie. Imagine Red Dawn in New York. -Chris is a complex protagonist. It would have been interesting to have some more exposition and introspection from his part, but his arc from plumber to resistance leader is interesting to see. You can notice differences in his appearance as the game goes on, from a torn pant leg to extra ammo bags, among others. -I struggle to use the term Metroid-Vania-like for Freedom Fighters, but some levels require you to take out objectives on others to progress. For example, one of the first levels has a door you can only open once you have freed a prisoner and escorted them through the sewers from another part of town. -The squad management and progression system add a layer of complexity to what is otherwise a very basic shooter. Completing objectives raises your influence, allowing you to bring along more and more fighters. You start off with 2 slots, but by the end of the game you can bring 10 freedom fighters along with you. You can order them individually to attack, defend, or regroup. -There are some awesome moments in the story, my two favorites being raiding the propaganda broadcasting center and sneaking onto Governors Island to assassinate General Tatarin. Cons: -The gunplay is TERRIBLE. You have to be within spitting distance for your bullets to go where you want them to. The crosshair is not representative of where your shots go, it merely acts as a suggestion. -Enemy AI is braindead. I couldn't tell if they actually try to flank you or if they were just behaving so absurdly that they decided to sprint around the room. If you have ever played the old Hitman games also made by IO, you may have noticed that the AI will just rush through doors and bottlenecks one by one to attack. The same thing happens here. - I said the setting is fun, but I think the story is bland. Other than the sideplot with Chris's brother, there isn't a whole lot going on other than kicking the invading commies out. Unless I missed something, that doesn't even happen at the end of the game, you just kick them out of a fort. Conclusion: Although you may look at the cons I've layed out and think they make or break a game, they somehow don't here. Freedom Fighters has more of a premise than a story; Fighting back against communist invaders. I mean this in the best way possible; it's the definition of a dumb shooter. I think what makes this dumb shooter a classic is the premise of fighting invaders off of American soil, the visible progression of Chris and the resistance along the way, and how the world is reactive to some of your decisions. Blowing up that helicopter pad on level A so the attack choppers don't show up on level B empowers the player. $15.00 is a reasonable price for this game. I've been familiar with Freedom Fighters since roughly a few years after its release, but only picked it up for the first time in February 2025. I don't say this about many games, but this is begging for a remake from the ground up. As unlikely as it is to happen, this is the perfect groundwork for something revolutionary (no pun intended) and for that I give it a thumbs up.

Very good!! The story is a little too short and too fast paced, and the aiming seems off, which is more apparent when running on a newer machine. The maps are like a good maze which keeps this game engaging.
Aged Like Fine Wine
I first played this game when I was in school. 10 years later, it's still as enjoyable as it was back then.
Story
You're an ordinary plumber when one day, you're suddenly in the forefront of a revolution to liberate America. Fight the Soviets, lead your men, and most importantly, help those in need: for you never when you'll be the one needing it!
Gameplay
My favourite aspect about the game is how we can take an instrument from one location and use it in another, about how completing an (optional) objective from one location makes the other missions in different places easier. How has this game mechanic not yet been adopted by other games? Also, i enjoyed leading my fighters. Many times, I made them charge all at once, only to be knocked out by the enemy. It's these situations which will catch you off-guard and make you think harder. Where will you place your fighters when you enter a room? What about passing through an open space? How will make it through a narrow passage filled with enemies to the brim? This is where your strategies will come in place. Keeping these in mind, for me the game is a TPS + strategy game.
Conclusion
Despite being a 2003 game, it runs fine on modern PCs. 10/10 buy it in the next Steam sale, when it is 1/10th of its original price of ₹ 459 (i bought it @ ₹ 45) All in all, a fine game. Truly wish we got a remake/sequel to this game. P.S. although the game runs beautifully without mods, the community hub contains detailed guides on modding/cheats and even ways to bypass a specific bug, should you encounter one.
