Awesome game, definitely worth the price. The entire presentation is really beautiful from the aesthetic to the music to the brutal gameplay. It really comes together to make something special. if you're on the fence about this one, you won't regret snagging it.

Good, short game. Soft recommendation. The combat sometimes feels a bit unfair or frustrating, but it is all just reaction based. The only times it dragged were when I was forced to go do side quests to earn money, or during hard mode where it was just brutally hard sometimes.

Tails Of Iron was a game I came across by Relyea on youtube a long time ago, but only got around to playing now after seeing it on steam for sale. After completing it, I can say for certain that it's a great experience. The combat is fun and often challenging which makes improving at it quite satisfying. The story in the grand scheme of things is relatively simple as it's just your average revenge story and yet with the narrators compelling voice and all the other little lore bits, it too feels enjoyable despite being simple. Redgi's fury towards the frogs is palpable and it makes slaughtering them all the more splendid. On another note I like it when video games have arenas and therefore was pleasantly surprised when I discovered this game has two and the dialogue from the narrator after every victory is also nice, as you get to see into Redgi's silly bloodthirsty thoughts. In the early game it's also cool to see the kingdom start slowly coming together again as you exterminate all the frog invaders, it makes your conquests feel like actual progress and that you really are fixing up your broken kingdom. The only thing I can really say wasn't as much fun was some back tracking and repetitive quests that occur in the early game as rather than exploring new areas, your just doing similar things in the same area over and over, but when you get through that there isn't as much annoying backtracking and you get to venture off into new areas once more. I suppose another minor thing is not being able to change equipment on the go, but I got used to that quickly once I understood the way it worked. Overall, Tails Of Iron is a fun game I'd definitely recommend, especially if you like combat as it's got lots of it.

Played on the steam deck great. Loved the art style and it is super cute for a souls game lol. Got a little bored of it towards the end and didn't finish it in its entirety but i feel like i get that way with a lot of games anyways. Encouraged me to try and get back into souls game, and there was definitely that souls frustration.
overall 8/10 extra .5 for the performance on steam deck

The graphics are cute, but the gameplay is glitchy and broken. I say this as a veteran Soulslike player.
The red attack alert is poorly synchronized with some enemies' hitboxes, making combat a completely pointless exercise of guessing. What we have here is a poor interaction between what the game expects you to do and your actual agency.
I don't recommend it.

Very simple and yet effective 2D Soulslike Game!
-The story is very interesting that makes you want to know what happens next the more you progress in the game.
-Lots of good Enemy variety with each having their own different attack patterns and makes you quite engaged, especially when you add them to the Bestiary to know more about them.
-Bosses are very challenging and take sometime to learn their attacks, making their defeat very rewarding.
-Good amount of side quests that have unique Bosses in them with unique rewards! Makes it very engaging. Especially the Expansion DLC
-Last but not least, very good soundtracks to listen in this Game and there is plenty of them to listen in. Most are quite banger!

This game is sometimes great, mostly good, and never bad. I thoroughly enjoyed it. And, since it's frequently on sale for $6, it's worth the gamble if you are unsure.
So many others have given detailed reviews of this game, so I'll simply highlight a few things I liked and didn't like.
Good stuff:
The price - it's remarkably cheap most of the time. Usually, it's $6 for the game and another $1 for the Cosmetic DLC.
Progressive damage is shown on the bosses and some monsters you fight. Sometimes, the damage impacts the monster's ability to fight you. For example, you might fight a monster who is armored up with a shield. After some fighting, the shield is broken so now the fighting style of the monster is different, etc. Additionally, the monster will show cuts and bruises - or worse - as you fight. You're Redwall-esque protagonist will do finishing moves, too, which vary according to the weaponi he is using. I am particularly fond of beheading my foes.
Narrator - Geralt of Rivia does the heavy lifting to maintain the story, which if we're being honest, is second rate. Still, he's appropriately over-the-top (by not in a Sly Stallone way: bonus if you understood the 80's reference). His approach reminds me of the Darkest Dungeon narrator style. Both of these voice actors know what their games are and they lean into them.
Combat - It's simple, yes, but since the game is only 10 hours or so (for me, at least), it kept me engaged. If this were a 50 hour game . . . no.
Game length - I love a good 80 hour game (Mass Effect, BG3, etc.), but most of the time I don't have the time or patience for that type of game. 10+ hours is great (might not be great for you).
Some bad stuff:
Backtracking - It's actually only a significant problem for the last half of the first Act. That's not to say you won't backtrack and that there aren't some places that could have (should have) been rethought. It's just not as egregious. Still, that I'm saying it's not "that" bad shows that it is a problem.
Gear/stats - Although I love that the gear customizes your character and the cosmetic aspect of it is wildly broad, the stats of the gear is just a bit simplistic. There are four stats: damage/defense/weight/enemy type. And, toward the end game, the difference between what drops is so insignficant that it doesn't make too much of a difference (so long as you aren't changing your weights or enemy types). I'd say that the last 1/3 of the game, I began choosing my gear more for cosmetics than anything else.

There's nothing quite like a bad cup of coffee, because it reminds you of all the other, better cups of coffee you've had.
That's how I feel about this game. Every time I had to walk back from a save point to another save point just to refill my bug juice, I was reminded of all the games that solved this issue by having the act of saving also refill whatever health restore fluid it used.
Every time I had to accept a sidequest one-by-one, I was reminded of all the games wherein sidequests were able to be picked up in batches.
Every time the game made me backtrack to town to get a new sidequest which was a direct continuation of the one I just finished, I thought of all the games in which they wouldn't waste my time by just having the quest continue on instead of being entirely new quests.
Or that fact that I had to get those sidequests because the main quest wanted to make sure I did the "sidequests" by requiring me to get coins from them in order to progress the story. Why call them "sidequests" when they are necessary for progression? And why make me do them at all except to pad out the play time?
The entire narrative, where cute little self-explanatory word bubbles are explained over in even more needless detail by a narrator trying too hard to sound like Geralt of Rivea, is just as padded. Very little actually happens for how many minutes all of it takes.
