This is one of those roguelikes where you can't win on skill or intuition alone, you need meta knowledge of what's ahead of you. If you don't anticipate and prepare for a particular wrinkle in the systems, or a particular attack that a boss has, etc, then you're pretty much just toast when those things happen.
These types of games are painful to learn. You either do an unfun amount of out-of-game research or incrementally progress your knowledge (maybe) by an extreme amount of retreading and failure.
These gameplay patterns are incredibly repetitive, punishing and demanding of your time.
Yes, there is an extremely high ceiling for learning and knowledge application in these kinds of games. But when the vehicle for it is misery I don't see how it's worth it. If you have to know what you need to do before you do it - or immediately lose - how can any step in learning such a game be anything less than painful?

I couldn't really get into this one.
Rather brutal game where you have to optimize a build to succeed, but it doesn't provide you all the info needed to succeed. Such as e.g. you want to level up your wolf summoning spell to summon mud wolves or some such, it doesn't let you know their stats, immunities, etc...
Game seems to either expect you to read outside of it for information or trial-and-error untill you get it, which both seem like un-fun options to me.
I can see someone enjoying this, but it didn't feel like my time was respected.
