This game offers a short, but fun, horror experience. The gameplay isn't too challenging either outside of a couple of QTE button mashes and a run sequence.
would recommend.

Has a game breaking bug later on where you have to break a wall with a crowbar, but you can give your crowbar to a hand in an attempt to trick it into thinking it's a leg, if you do this your game is screwed.
Fine game, boring to tears though.

Okay so this was a bit difficult to decide how I felt about this game. At it's core, it's a side scrolling pixel puzzle visual novel. It does some of these elements well, but there's some moments where the pacing is killed and the puzzles seem a bit ridiculous as well as some odd design choices. I'll do my best to be concise, here goes!
Pros: The art style for both the pixel and the characters is just great. There's light animations and varied expressions to make the characters feel like they have more personality to them.
The story starts off a little weak, gets really interesting in the middle, but it does fall flat in the end. More on that (spoiler free)
Cons: The beginning of the game was a bit of a slow start. The dialogue was a little cringe, but it was kind of whatever. There's more pacing issues where if you miss a single detail, you could be searching the train for a long time. You can also search the same thing multiple times, but it has different results based on where you're at in the story. Like you can search a cabinet and it's empty, but then you get a clue that something might be there, so if you search it then, you'll find something. Not the end of the world, but just slightly annoying.
The puzzles for this game are kind of obnoxious. Most of them are 100% super straight forward, but towards the end there's a couple where I'm still scratching my head where I think they could've been design a bit better as they rely on children's drawings and the details kind of get lost in them.
This isn't really a CON, but more of a note, this game isn't really scary. It's creepy, it's dark, but it's not really scary. I don't think there was a jumpscare in it. Just worth noting in case you were looking for something to get the heart pumping!
Also this being a 2d side scroller, yes you will run all the way right to run all the way left, which then means you have to run all the way right again. This should be fairly obvious, but it does get to be a bit obnoxious when it's several screens of travel back and forth.
I did experience a chase sequence where I died doing something stupid. My bad. But when the game reloaded, it had some dialogue and when the dialogue ended, I was immediately killed because the Saki (the player) didn't move despite holding down a direction. Turns out, you have to press it at just the right time after the dialogue. Not too soon otherwise she doesn't move, but not too late other wise you're too slow to make it to the next screen. That was incredibly annoying to deal with.
Finally the story. No spoilers, but that's where this game shined really well for awhile...until eventually it just kinda fell flat. The game just kind of ends. You have a couple of questions, but the game just packs it in and says "that's basically it" I felt a little robbed after the last quarter of the game was a let down and really I just finished it to finish it since I was so close to the end.
TLDR; Great art, mostly solid story, confusing puzzles, nonsensical logic, abrupt ending. This game is decent, but it ends on a low note.

This is a pretty solid and engaging adventure game about a group of friends who run into a mysterious broken down train in the middle of the woods. It's got a horror vibe without actually being all that scary through most of the game. There are a few jump scares and other surprise scares, but generally the game doesn't really ratchet up the tension or make you feel nervous or creeped out. But it's got a generally good atmosphere and story. The art style and music are really solid. The animation is limited by the format but generally fine.
It has some of the usual adventure game problems of not being sure what to do because you don't know where to find an item or where to use an item, which sometimes leads to just going from hot spot to hot spot, searching and trying each item in turn. Sometimes it can be rather tedious to progress but mostly it's not all that bad.
Overall it's a pretty good game which will only take you 5-10 hours to beat depending on if or how much you get stuck or if you attempt to all the achievements. Despite not being anywhere near as scary as I'd hoped, it was still engaging and interesting.

Like others i wanted to enjoy this but i didn't.
the art animation and atmosphere were great.where it falls short is the story telling and pacing.
at first i was having a good time but then you started to meet the friends of Saki (the female lead) and they are empty.
the only things told to you are you're all friends....and 4 of the 5 are going to get married...no hobbies, dreams or anything to actually make them interesting. saki is the best character not only getting the most screen time but changed over the course of the story. still...there isn't anything to her as the prior still applies to her.
so when ever something bad happened...i didn't really care more than surface level understanding.
then the pacing...i don't think it was a problem...until chapter 9 (there are 10) where you have to do this puzzle that involves a map, overlay and a lot of back tracking...this for me was the absolute WORST part of the experience. the entire time...i wondered...what is the goal here? isn't this suppose to be a horror game? what is the point of this VERY long fetch quest? i hated this chapter so much...its the main reason i can't recommend the experience...
And finally Ayumi...Who and what is she? i don't feel this is explained and i did not like the last scene with her...
her story isn't concluded. she still exists and nothing has changed...
oh and the steam achievements don't work. and i despise the complete the game without saving/ complete a second time. i DO NOT want to play this more than once!
OVERALL
Sigh, apparently this story will have a sequel at some point which will explain things not done here.
this game did do some things really well, but where it fell short. is too much for me to give this a positive rating. perhaps next time will be different.

Oof I feel bad about not recommending this. It's atmosphere and style is ON POINT but the game boils down to running left and right. At a point you realize early on that none of it is effectively scary, and the then the ending comes about and it's just... not good. The "did they run out of time?" kind of not good.

It started out with great potential, and is a good, spooky way to kill a few hours, but it gets kind of rushed towards the end and doesn't make the most of its story and characters, despite having some intricate storytelling at the start.

The games alright I guess but definitely not that great. The visuals and atmosphere are fantastic but the story so far is pretty bland and the characters have no personality. The dialogue at times is also awkward. The puzzles are super simplistic and its mostly just a lot of running back and forth to get an item. It's not a terrible game but not a great game either.
I'd only recommend buying this if it's on sale. I don't think this is worth the full price at all.
POSITIVE POINTS:
- Its price: with a duration of 4-5 hours the first game is not bad at all. We also have some moments where our choices will ‘mark’ the story in one way or another, but only in appearance, not in result: watching those scenes and wanting to get all the achievements can encourage replayability.
- It has a very nice pixel art style.
- Its story is very interesting, and especially at the beginning it will hook us.
NEGATIVE POINTS:
- Its biggest drawback is the lack of variety of scenarios that it has, which we repeat over and over again to get new clues or solve puzzles.
- It's too repetitive: when we're halfway through the game we'll be tired of going from one place to another constantly: just because we've been in a room doesn't mean that later on there won't be something useful in it, which makes it tedious.
- Its puzzles are too simple, with the exception of the two endings, which are overcomplicated compared to the rest of the game.
- The music doesn't really stand out, although it accompanies the game well.
- The ending is somewhat open-ended, and leaves a couple of important unknowns unresolved.
CONCLUSIONS:
We find ourselves before a game that mixes in a somewhat clumsy way the genre of interactive adventure with that of puzzles, with a very well handled touch of Japanese horror. It has a very nice pixel art style, mixed with illustrations in the form of ‘cinematics’, which do their job, with a personal and interesting artwork. The adventure has a lateral development in 2D, and its story mixes horror and thriller in a remarkable way. Unfortunately, as we progress through the game and get answers, it will seem to be deflating, and it doesn't bring out the full potential of the main characters, although ironically it does stage the supporting characters very well. Its gameplay is based on going through the scenarios in a more or less guided way (we will not be able to access certain areas unless we have solved the situations where we are), and use the objects or clues that we find in puzzles so logical that most of them are too simple.
EVALUATION:
- 6/10.
It's a sincere game, that doesn't aspire to more than what it can give; in a way it's a pity, because taking a little more care of certain details would have made it much more interesting (we end up very tired because of the repetitive mechanics). Still, highly recommended thanks to its low price: if you find it on sale, and you like games of this style, don't let it pass you by.

I wanted to like this game - it had a great premise and the first half of the game was really well done. Unfortunately, the issues I found with the story and gameplay really hampered my enjoyment of the game, leaving me feeling extremely disappointed.
The story is poorly told and paced, leaving far more questions than answers. Initially, the first half really pulled me in when one of Saki's friends vanished and she finds herself in the past where no one can see her. I thought that the story would evolve more around Saki trying to work and communicate with Eiji to solve puzzles and the mystery of the train, but it never really did. It ends up being more about Saki trying to find her friends and sometimes gets transported into the past for some reason (which is never really explained), which I found to be disappointing. The story doesn't really tie together at the end, leaving too many unanswered questions and an unsatisfying and anticlimactic conclusion. The characters are also fairly....lackluster. You never really get to spend enough time with anyone to build a connection or learn more of who they are, which makes what is supposed to be emotional scenes ring hollow. It does feel like the story is trying to set up a sequel by leaving so many questions unanswered, but the story is plotted and told so poorly and the characters too forgettable to really make a sequel worthwhile.
The controls are frustrating as well. I played with a controller and I noticed that navigating felt...weird. It's very hard to explain, but it feels like Saki/Eiji's trajectory hard-stops whenever you enter a new room. For example, if you keep holding the control stick to the right and go through a door, in the next room Saki/Eiji will remain stock still even if you are still pushing the control stick. Instead, to resume moving, you have to release it and push right again to resume movement. This was annoying overall, but EXTREMELY frustrating during the token chase scenes - I died far too many times simply because I could not get Saki to respond right away, instead staring there stupidly looking at the monster that was clearly going to kill her. I also dislike that for the first chunk of the game, you can't run and can only walk....but you get the ability to run halfway through. I honestly don't know why you couldn't just run at the start. It's better than games like "Until Dawn" that don't even give you the option to run, but still - just give the player the ability to run at the start. There was no need to keep the run mechanic from the player for most of the game
The game also doesn't have puzzles, but rather is a giant, nearly five-hour long fetch quest. The few puzzles the game does have are alright at best, and are repeated over and over with little variety. None of these puzzles are interesting enough to warrant repeating, and some are back to back.
You also don't get much instruction or clues as to what you need to do next (your journal is a joke as it only documents certain items you collect, not tasks or anything), so if you're wandering around aimlessly looking for an item and are confused as to what else you need to do, good luck because the game isn't going to repeat itself.
Overall, I feel that this game had a lot of great potential, but was poorly executed. It shines in the first half, but then crashes and burns (hard) in the second. I can see the skeleton of a great story and an interesting game mechanics, but it sadly fell short. It the game was longer and allowed the character to develop more, the story to develop more, and included more interesting puzzles, this could have been a great game. Unfortunately, as it is, I can't recommend this.
