I have a suspicion that this pixel horror game was made by fans of Corpse Party.
A group of five college students are camping out in the woods when scary things start happening. The fire goes out, the fog rolls in, and after an argument one of the friends runs off on his own. Saki, the main heroine, and her friend Kanae heads into the woods in search of her missing buddy only to find a derelict train.
But this isn't just any train. It's a haunted train and now they are trapped inside with the ghosts of a tragedy from eight years ago! Over the course of the game's 10 chapters, you will be become intimately familiar with the seven or eight screens that comprise the train. The game has it's moments with some really creepy scenarios (my favorite is when you have to use a pair of scissors to cut open the stomach of an inexplicably pregnant skeleton), it can't be saved from how boring the exploration and puzzles are.
Most of them require you to use an item on another item to get yet another item to use on one of the game's interactable hotspots. To make matters worse, every key item is always located on the opposite end of where you are supposed to use it. I became increasingly bored and frustrated from just running left to right and right to left in what felt like a loop.
The game is too small to really feel like you are exploring. There is nothing but the train with some occasional outside areas that do little to break up the monotony. I think the team here could make a good horror puzzle game if they had a bigger haunted area with short-cuts to prior areas so it didn't feel like we were running from one end to the other looking for the one magnifying glass icon that has the puzzle item you need.
