Abandonware. Bullshit.

I've seen reviews on here that talk about the developers abandoning this game, or not delivering on promises. I decided to listen to a review which said to give this game a shot, because who knows when it might go down? And, with the little time I have spent on it, found it amazing. The art, the atmosphere, the writing, the lore, the mystique: I love it all. There is little hand holding, and you might miss a few things if you don't pay attention. But I personally like that. Rather than a quest log with 100 active quests, none of them pressing, now it's up to you to decide what is worth your time. From what I've heard, I haven't even seen a fraction, let alone mastered any of its many aspects. But I want to see more of it in the future. And dissuading others from experiencing this artwork won't do me, or others, any favors. If you are a fan of games like Journey, this is up your alley. It's not about the destination, but the reward. It's true that it's not teeming with other players, but in the six hours I've spent on it, I've had the pleasure of meeting two other players, and the scarcity makes these encounters all the more rewarding. If the vibe of this game speaks to you, give it a chance!

I can’t emphasize enough how profoundly this game has affected me. No other medium has pulled me into such a breathtaking and vibrant world like Book of Travels has. The stunning artwork, captivating music, and its soothing, welcoming atmosphere are truly one of a kind. Sadly, 2024 has been a tough year for the developers and their team, leading to a slowdown in development. This makes the future of the game feel more uncertain than ever. So, I urge you to experience this masterpiece while you can, as it might not be around forever. And please, show the devs all the love and support they deserve.

I'm deeply troubled and sad about this game. It has sooooo much potential and the developers really haven't done anything wrong. It's romantic to travel along and locate other adventurers without any such group making system at all. Just a large world of solo travelers who might bump into eachother.

Don't waste your time or money. This game is crap. There's literally nothing to do in the game. I spent 1.5 hours wondering. The character interactions are extremely limited. There's no mystery and no adventure and I had to make a separate account to even check out the game play but with how long it took I couldn't even get a refund.

Game will never be finished. Dev team has had two 80% staff reductions since development started and the skeleton crew that's left are just talking about how to mothball the game before turning the lights off.

A multiplayer game without players No serious updates in years Can be called abandonware

Abandonware. When things went south, they even got the nerve to ask for a "cup of kindness" (give them a free few more bucks), just to go silent after a couple of minor (very minor) hot fixes. Stay away, at this point it is just another Early Access scam.

Abandonware. Pretty much just stole my money. Looked super promising a while ago when I bought in to EA, only for the updates to trickle down to nothing over the next couple years. The entire dev team was fired TWICE, and now they're moving on to the next title. I'd recommend putting this publisher/developer to "ignore" on Steam so you can avoid future scams.

They abandoned the game, but not without one last middle finger to its fan-base by implementing a terrible weighted inventory system that ruined any good game-play already established. This could have been an amazing game, and I will even continue to play it if they reverse the weighted inventory update, but for now it is a disappointment.
