Humankind is a solid entry in the 4X strategy genre. I really enjoyed the culture-shifting system and how it lets you shape your civilization in new ways every era. The art, music, and overall polish make for a great singleplayer experience. However, multiplayer is where things fall apart. It’s buggy to the point of being nearly unplayable—constant desyncs, connection issues, and crashes make it tough to get through a full game with friends. It’s a shame, because the potential is there. If you’re in it for solo play, I’d say go for it. Just don’t expect smooth sailing if you’re planning to jump into multiplayer.

Played 170 hours... it's a very solid game however using war to expand or even prevent enemy expanding nearby can result in you getting into a long drawn out war. It can basically ruin your entire game because a cycle of rebellions occur which results in massive loss of your entire population. You can go from doing really well to the trash heap while all you're trying to do is prevent the AI from winning. I've stopped playing and started a New game far too many times... I wasn't even playing on harder AI... it's really too bad.

Came back to this game after the disaster that's CIV 7 because I was desperate for a 4X game. I'm so happy I did. After an underwhelming launch, Humankind seems to have grown into a really fun, really innovative 4X game. Some of my favorite features: -Turn based battles where positioning, army composition can make a big difference. - Outposts and cities - How culture influence works and basically allows you to take over cities without fighting. - Wonder building system and how your cities can all contribute production towards wonders. and many more. - Neutral factions If you haven't tried this game yet, it's a great time to do so.

Enjoyable. The most egregious issues from launch have been solved and the game is fun to play. Some minor technical issues are present but they do not render the game unplayable.

Not without it's quirks... but it is a very nice distraction from Civ6... Jury is still out on Civ7 so I figured I would try what inspired a lot of 7.

03/29/2025 We still have this issue. We run state of the art PCs with I9s 4090 128gigs of ram. Would could the issue be? We are on turn 216 playing on LAN. Going to give this game a negative rating on steam because we CAN NOT PLAY THE GAME!!! I have restarted, switched from wired to wireless internet, rebuilt the game files, hosted in on both computers, loged into the game single player saved it, restarted both computers, restarted the router, restarted the modem, restarted the game over and over again, tried next day. Next day it worked for a couple of hours then suddenly stopped working. MANY HOURS WASTED IT HAS BEEN YEARS!!!!! I am going to have to go play the crap game that is CIV 7.

Actually a decent game. Aside from the short freezes at the last era and couple not well explained mechanics, the game actually delivers on aesthetic part of building a civilization, something that the Civ games have lost by focusing on gameplay rather than highlighting it's historical roots. Humankind offers a closer connection to your empire through a well written event system, soundtrack and phenomenal voice acting of the narrator which comments on many things you create, discover and achieve. This makes the game feel more responsive and alive. In my personal opinion, having the first era be a neolithical era where you lead a tribe of nomads before settling down is an incredibly fun and clever idea.

At first didn't get into this, but after getting used it this game. I noticed I never went back to Civilization 6. And currently kinda feels like CIV 6.5 (No offense meant), with how some features in CIV 7 seem to have been in here. For now would recommend this over CIV6 and 7.

Best 4X on the market. Give it a chance, understand the systems, and give it a solid go, and I garuantee you will love it. Also probably one of the best "play by Feel" 4x's out there. You don't need to plan one million turns ahead, because you can just build over whatever you misplaced. Really its the Civ 7 we deserved, and Civ 7 copied most of humankind's design and then executed it poorly.

Like many others I was seriously burned by CIV 7 and gave Humankind a second shot. Really glad I did! Just wanted to give Amplitude a positive review for sticking with the game and improving it. Highly recommended for all fans of 4X games.
