It's... Harsh. The game isn't bad, no, but really disappointing. Gameplay is fine, the controls are straight to the point, no secret. The shoulder strike? Never used, so no clue why it was put there. Running, striking with the "weapons", evading, it's alright. Crafting, catching up the lore and story, sure thing, it works. But the story... It's good, it is intriguing, but the delivery is terribly flawed and not at all organic. The intro section could have left more to the imagination, and once you're playing as Jess, she just gets into sh!t really fast, accepts everything way too easy, and everything happens at fast pace, there's no proper introduction to the events, there's no natural progression on learning the stuff in the story, you're just thrown into scenes and events, and Jess is just "oh sure, alright, we're doing this now". I can compliment the devs for giving the story expansion DLC for free, so that counts. But damn... A story that could have worked so well is just thrown against the wall like a bunch of bean balls, sliding down with a smear of disappointment.
