First I was was a little put down by the overwhelming art style and found it very hard to read the environment.
Yet I got the hang of it pretty quickly, and the game is really good at slowly edging you into its many mechanics.
I'm glad I gave it a try - man, do I love this game!
It may be the metroidvania with the single most greatest mechanical depth I've ever played, and I played a few!
Mezmerizing graphics, beautiful soundtrack, absolutely bonkers skills to find - it's everything the genre wants and needs.
One caveat, though: I have to say that the battle mechanics are a little on the more casual side, so don't expect Darksouls-like boss fights. Don't get me wrong - there is combat and there are bossfights, but this game isn't about the fighting. So they're all beatable pretty easily.
Aside from that - BUY IT. It's great!

It's just not fun, when you lose all your equipment, items and upgrades over and over again and are teleported back to the beginning. When it happened the first time I almost dropped the game. Some sections were really annoying too and I had to use a walkthrough a few times. So yeah, I'm glad I'm done now...
