I was thinking of replaying this, but will likely play the Redux version.

Played for the first time in 2025.
A great first person shooter with tons of style and very pretty visuals. Closely resembles Doom in terms of the gameplay.
I had a great time with Hard Reset. The gameplay was exciting, the controls were enjoyable, and the weapons were interesting and loads of fun.
The level design is somewhat linear, but is very well laid out with few invisible walls and such. Those who enjoy secret hunting will be well satisfied. While I'm not a die-hard secret hunter, I do spend a fair bit of time looking about and there were secrets and collectables I was never able to figure out.
I usually play my games on Hard (or higher) and started Hard Reset on Hard. It felt a little too punishing initially, so I restarted on Normal. I thought this was a good difficulty level that offered a lot of challenge while not feeling super frustrating.
Great game, I'd highly recommend Hard Reset for those who want a fast and furious shooter that's very pleasant to look at. I'll give the Redux version a look at some point. I was able to run the original at 4K/120fps on a 3080 laptop with no issues.

Good graphics for the period it was released and still looks good after 14 years of its release. There are some minor graphics glitches I have encountered during start of some levels, where restarting the game fixes it. Can be completed within a few hours, it is a good shooter set in a cyberpunk story line. However, the focus is not on story line and its all about shooting and boss fights. I have played the Extended Edition with all the DLCs included and it took less than 10 hrs to complete it in normal difficulty level.
If you like Doom type fps games then this one will be worth a play.
I think this version looks better than the newer Redux version that came with some game play changes. However, I recommend getting this on sale only.
