worst game i have ever touched and im disappointed that new gen games have become so overwhelmingly terrible only focusing on graphics and not gameplay to the point where its unbearable. the playability isnt there i can go back and play the other games and get more substance. this is one of those games where you play it and uninstall and never have the need to play it again or even think about ever wanting to play it again. they even changed sam b.

Very fast respawning enemies, which are even level-scaling zombies and insanely strong. Not to mention the wanna-be edgy characters.

Great game for you and your boys to hop on. The Gore is something else and the story is great it really makes you very immersed.

I was actually surprised at the quality of this game. I picked up the game on sale and It looked so generic that I went in with low hopes... but the gameplay is actually really solid and they give you a lot of options to find a playstyle that works for you. Resources are plentiful, so you can really experiment with new weapons and modifications. Runs well on my machine, looks great, and (knock on wood) so far no major bugs to speak of.
Grabbed the DLC because I'm having fun.

this game is far too short to be worth 50$ (too short to be worth around 10 years of waiting too, but whatever), it took me and my brother 2 whole 5 hour long sessions to beat with *most* side quests done, would not recommend if youre looking for a longer game, would however recommend if youre looking for... a quick session of dismembering corpses, i guess. the combat, and graphical look is a HUUUUGEEE step-up from DI1, but not even that can save it from the short, and lacking story within this game. It just feels like everything happens for the sake of happening. almost like the game itself, in a way.
But you probably already have Left 4 Dead/L4D2, so just go play that. Or, better yet, buy Dead Island 1, and save ~30 bucks, and get this game, except it actually aged well. hell, even play Dying Light. Oh, you like the gore physics, and dismemberment physics in this game? Pfft, just go play Postal 2, or buy it for *10* dollars, if you haven't yet. As a matter of fact, you could probably buy *all* of those games for the full price of this game, given there's a steam sale.
Overall, this game just feels like a run-of-the-mill, zombie-survival-craft-questing with a Dead Island coat of paint splattered onto it, which is pretty unfortunate, given that a *lot* of people were waiting for this game for a very long time.

a nice hack and slash zombie game. It's like dying light plus dead island one. I will say that 4 players to 3 players co-op is REALLY BAD but i don't have any friends playing this game so what the hell-a. Jacob and Sam B are both goats BTW. DLC'S are okay but pros kinda fixes that for free. And over all from starting from dead island one then waiting for dead island 2 after years i'd say this game is worth it. I just wish it had more content like it would be cool if there were a DLC were the old crew of dead island one came back. got this game on game pass and then bought it on steam after I finished it on game pass.

This game is really good-looking in graphics and a lot of fun to play alone or in groups. The varieties of quests and opponents is solid. The mechanics are cool and the degree to which you have to explore also works. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot for the mechanics, graphics, and character-building.
On the other hand, the fetch quests can get frustrating and tedious, especially since quests have to be followed in sequence and the things you need to resolve them magically do not appear until prior stages are complete. Also, there is little incentive to play post-main story, at least for me. The overall plot is utter and complete nonsense, but like any game in the genre, you have to suspend disbelief a bit to enjoy at all.
I did not buy the DLC because I didn't want to hit the level cap. For me, that would have killed the joy, since the DLC's did not add to the level cap.

dead island 2 is a perfect mix of gore, humor, and stunning visuals that keeps you hooked from start to finish. from the very beginning, the game grabs your attention with its silly/corny action, and it doesn't slow down. what really stands out is how it knows exactly what it wants to be, a fun zombie killing adventure that doesn't take itself too seriously.
let’s start with the graphics. dead island 2 looks absolutely gorgeous. the world of los angeles (hell-a) is brought to life with incredible detail from the sunny streets of hollywood to the abandoned corners of venice beach. the lighting is fantastic, the textures are sharp, and the character models are impressively lifelike. (minus the funny torso thing that happens when you crouch which was also in dead island 1) besides that, it’s clear that a lot of care went into making the environments and characters as immersive and visually stunning as possible. i was genuinely impressed by how well it ran on my 1070 on high settings. the game looked amazing and ran smoothly with very little frame drops. it’s not often that a visually demanding game that came out recently performs this well with my GPU.
as for the gameplay, it's pretty much the same as dead island 1 but with a lot more features. weapons range from crowbars to electrified machetes. combat feels heavy and satisfying with impactful hits. you can also craft and modify weapons with elemental effects (fire, electricity, poison) to suit your playstyle. the gore system is beautiful, every single slice is registered exactly where it hits while also paying attention to the force of which you swing your weapon. you can break bones to disable the zombies from walking and if you really want to, you can cut out all of their flesh and organs to the point they are a skeleton. it's genuinely the best gore system i have seen in a zombie game. when starting the game, you can choose from 6 unique slayers, each with a different skill tree. i picked dani, a tatted up irish woman who doesn't take anything seriously 99% of the time and is always cracking silly jokes. my friend seabanananers, who played the entire game with me, picked ryan, a male exotic dancer disguised as a firefighter. also, the humor in this game is what makes it truly stand out. the corny dialogue, stupid 2016 slang, braindead characters, and ridiculous scenarios keep the atmosphere light and fun. there's always something to keep you laughing. the balance of dark humor, cringe, and action keeps you wanting more and more.
if you’re looking for a game that’s both visually stunning and filled with laughs, dead island 2 delivers with fantastic graphics, smooth performance (even on a 1070), and a stupid sense of humor that makes every moment feel funny in a cringey way. this is genuinely one of the most enjoyable zombie games i’ve played in a while. refunding the trash that is dying light 2 to buy this game instead was a great choice.

I waited for 10 years to play this. Technically, 11 years since this game was only exclusive to the Epic Games Store for a whole year. It was not worth the wait...
This isn't the Dead Island that I used to know. While the visuals look absolutely stunning and to be fair, you would hope so for a game that was in development for 10+ years, the other attributes of this game are just...outright bad. The mediocre story, the terrible cliffhanger, bland characters (no seriously why did they ONLY have Sam B for this game and then not use his character wisely), the numerous bugs, the lack of storage, the lack of weapon modifications, the combat, the lag, the garbage EOS etc. the problems are endless that it felt like a bore trying to complete the campaign and was it worth all that trouble? Absolutely not. It's that bad that I don't even feel like playing this game in co-op!
Do not buy this game at full price. Wait for a sale at the very least or just go back to the previous Dead Island games to revere in what made this franchise so brilliant and unique.

Dead island 2 is a fun zombie game, totally not comparable to Dead island 1. Dead island 1 was developed by Techland, I liked the 1st one as it had a more serious and depth to zombie land universe, while this one is developed by a different studio and has a more fun approach to the story and game play, fun dialogues. Techland now develops their own Zombie franchise game Dying light. I love both Dead island 2 and Dying light.
