Psi Project Reviews
Psi Project is a hardcore 2D shooter with elements of horror. The main character wakes up in an unknown place. Absolutely remembers nothing. Who he is and how he got here. Throughout search of answers he is strongly plagued by different kinds of hallucinations.

Psi Project is yet another asset flip from Russian shovelware pushers, ZGold/Droid Riot/Onblind. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into DailyIndieGame bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab. The developers doubled down on this unethical behavior by stealing sprites from another developer, stealing sound effects without permission from Valve, and lying to gamers about the game having trading cards to fraudulently sell more copies of the game.
Psi Project is an asset/template flip made with the godawful Raycasting Game Maker engine used to generate cheap ripoffs of Wolfenstein 3D. Gameplay consists of simple single plane FPS shooting sprite based enemies on small 2D levels, just like Wolf3D.
The Raycasting Game Maker engine is garbage. It has oversensitive mouse settings, so if you use the mouse to steer, you will just flip around endlessly with zero control. However, you must use the mouse to shoot, so the game is effectively unplayable. This is no different from any other game made with this engine. It's garbage. Also, like every other Raycasting Game Maker asset flip, resolution and controls are locked and can't be changed, and the graphics horrible, low resolution "pixel" trash. It's pure trash, and while the intent of the construction kit was to make small games to pass around with friends, and to teach some aspects of game making, unethical developers will dump the games on Steam as cash grabs. Like Psi Project.
I used to think things like GameMaker Studio and RPG Maker were the worse game construction kits for allowing talentless "developers" to make "games". Actually, they still are, no matter how bad or unplayable this trash is.
OnBlind/TSS Studio/Vyacheslav Shilikhin/Droid Riot (all closely linked accounts) have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, directly through the account used to publish this, or through one of those closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 10 players. That's right, only 10, and that number is inflated because of the developers deceptive and fraudulent claim that the game has trading cards. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason.
It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a small number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
Psi Project is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.

This seems to qualify more as a proof of concept than an actual game. Not much here, but I will concede that the creepy atmosphere in levels 1 and 2 is spot-on.

- My mouses DPI was too high, and it caused the game to have issues, I could use my mouse, but only if I turned the dpi so low as to be uncomfortable.
- Holding right and forward is faster than just walking
- you need to manually save, or you will start from scratch when you die.
- the game is just a dollar, but im convinced thats WAY to much.
- Theres people in the comments claiming the creator stole sprites.
Im not going to sugarcoat it, this game is shit.

Developer is smoking something for shure. This ass game costs almost 1 dollar, it has "sound settings" that dosent eaven work and the only reason i got this shit with 70% off coupon is for "trading cards" but of course its a sacam and it dosent have them when it clearly says "steam trading cards". Valve take down this shit ass price scam games of steam. Dont buy this if y expect trading cards or anything at all.

Psi Project seems to be another game created with "Ray Game Designer," a program that lets one create FPS games somewhere between Catacomb 3D and Wolfenstein 3D with no programming knowledge. Mos of the games feel identical, with only graphical changes. Psi Project does not, which makes it worth playing even if you're familiar with the engine. The programmer shows a bit more creativity and initiative, bringing us a somewhat unique experience. Bosses in tight quarters and invisible enemies that only appear briefly and make sound actually do add a tinge of horror to what could have been a basic game. (This makes the generic sequel Psi Project 2, that much more disappointing.) The asking price is too high, but it frequently goes on sale for fifty cents. That's the time to buy it, since, fun, as it is, it's unlikely to take a full hour to complete and has limited replayability. Give it a go if you like mouse driven pre-Wolf3D FPSes or are famliar with the engine and want to see a little twist on it. And if you aren't offended by ripped sprites.
Hello, yes, this is LucasArts, and we would like the Zombies that Ate our Neighbors back, thank you.

Bro this game sucks. It takes up more space than doom but doesn't show that it should. If you get the coupon for this game through cards, DO NOT GET IT. It doesn't give you cards nor achievements.

Psi Project is a "hardcore" 2D horror shooter in the vain of oldschool Doom and Quake. Within it, players must find keycards to advance to the next level while also either avoiding or killing zombies and weird ghost-like entities that pop in and out of view. There are also notes scattered about, but there is no way to read them, so their real purpose has thus far gone unknown; unless by collecting them all a secret door opens in the final level. There are relatively few redeeming qualities about this release, which is primarily limited to the atmosphere being decent.
Honestly, this is one of those games that has so many bad things working against it that I'm not really sure where to even start. The blatant and blasphemous asset stealing is as good a place as any; sprites from the original Doom can be found, and the hand/gun model was lifted from a content creator who was working on a now-canceled Duke Nukem 3D project. Proof has been posted in the Community Hub, but it has unsurprisingly gone unanswered by developer/publisher Vyacheslav Shilikhin, who has even birthed a follow-up title called Psi Project Legacy.
If you'll notice, the majority of the two short trailers that are posted on the store page are from Level 4; that's because you don't even get a gun until this stage, even though enemies are found before that. Exploring every area from Level 1-4 only netted me with 1 health pack, and 1 container of ammo, and Levels 5-11 repeated the same two enemy types over and over again, save for two "boss"-like entities with one of them being completely skippable. For a "hardcore" shooter, Psi Project is excruciatingly easy, especially in comparison to the franchises that it's attempting to emulate. I suppose for a price point that's less than $5 you can't expect much, but given that most of the levels feature large copy-and-paste portions of previous areas there should be a little more thought put into other elements.
At the end of the day, Psi Project takes about half-an-hour to beat. There's a total of 11 Levels, 3 enemy models, 2 "bosses", 1 gun type, 1 health pack style, and 1 ammo container style. There are maybe a grand total of 5-7 textures used for the walls as well, and it seems like no one has a clue what the note pickups do. It's really just a less-than-mediocre attempt at creating a Doom/Quake hommage, and it feels unfinished; even the endgame screen is nothing but a white background, so there is no reason to even bother finishing the game. Ultimately, the stolen assets are what make this release completely unforgivable. As I've said before, and as I will say with my final breath: Do not support people who steal the work of others.
Rating: 0.5/5.0 - Abysmal, avoid it like the plague.
