Despite the fundamental changes to the series' viewpoint, Darksiders Genesis feels like a true Darksiders game, and banishes any memory of the lacklustre third entry.

There are literally game breaking bugs. You cant progress further because the E Skill on War gets stuck in the flames.
Sadly im over the refund time. Do not recommend.

Satisfying combat, even if that dodge doesn't pass through enemies. Fantastic art direction. Excellent music and great sound design. Fun characters with good dialogue and great voice acting. Standard hidden collectibles and some standard traversal mechanics. Upgrades and items are not exciting and feel like a let down. You can do the game just fine with zero upgrades. My final gripe are the overly-complicated controls. It feels like the game is doing too much and must use EVERY SINGLE BUTTON. Every sub-menu uses a different button to open them, and do not appear in the same spot for each menu. A fun time-waster that should be cheap, but won't stand up to more modern action games like Hades. I have no regrets.

Oh Darksiders! one of my favorite series and a story I have been so thoroughly invested in since DS1. A lil bit of prequel, with gameplay visuals so very different from the rest of its brethren, a coop enabled campaign, great banter between the 2 protagonists, and fun to do explorations, quests and rewards. Starting off from a very basic power rating and then climbing up to explosive power that puts even the hardest difficulty to shame, very beautiful power fantasy experience that one expects from the series by this point.
Not without its flaws though. There are a lot of bugs where either you glitch out into the environment, or enemies do and the level is basically stuck unless you quit out and load back in from a checkpoint. There are some bosses with needlessly annoying mechanics especially if you are trying to get achievements. Certain puzzles that are beyond infuriating, sometimes you cant even see where you're going or what u need to do, and a lot of times it feels like it'll only go succeed with really good RNG. And actual components of the protag's kits are locked behind some of these.
But regardless, the game is worth playing for an introduction to Strife and his playstyle, classic Darksiders gameplay although from a different camera perspective, and the variety of cool new enemies introduced. The executions are always fun to watch. Can hardly wait for the next one in the series.

Very fun to play with a friend or on couch. The online connection is somewhat buggy, but nonetheless, beautiful game.

As always, I absolutely love this series. This time the Isometric view did wonders to refresh the formula.
(+) Strife is great!
(+) Gameplay is kinda like a twin-stick shooter, which controlled great
(+) As always, many secrets and side quests that are not too obtuse
(+) Voice acting is impecable as always
(+) Visuals are top notch, as expected
(+) Being able to switch between Strife and War on the fly feels great
(+) Interesing story - a prequel of the other games
(0) Main story is considerably short but the side content makes up for it
(0) War is not as fun to control as Strife
(0) Creating builds is fun but in the end you are quite limited
(-) So many bugs like out of bounds, stuck in animation, skills not activating, etc
(-) Very easy until you reach the last difficulty
(-) The ending is... lackluster but was expected?
