It may be lacking modern standards in graphics, but it makes up for in story and gameplay. Side note there are some glitches in levels that we’re unable to pass without saving and resuming but for a 90’s game expect it to come into a vital part of gameplay

So this game is slapping. The gist of this is: ability to FUCK from a thousand meters away with a pump-action shottie, aliens with beans (is that cool to say? is that a cool meme? did you laugh?), el balognah from barselona (bars for my debut rap single: To da top #selfpromo), a science experiment goes wrong...you know those mentos in coke videos?, big stinkin aliens that run real good and are kinnndddddddddaaaaaaaa scary, YOU ARE GORDAN FREAKMAN, usa military, zombie, car, and the last but certainly not least: it's a shooting game with crouch-jumping.

Has a a handful of parts where the mechanics don't work, and it's not perfectly polished. But, it's definetly a masterpiece in game design. Everything this game sets out to do, it does it almost flawlessly. Everyone should play it at least once.

a fun game that didn't disappoint good gameplay with a lot of small interesting moments throughout the campaign and I prefer the art style of Half-Life compared to Half-Life 2

Great art direction, immersion and obvious technical marvel.
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy playing it very much, feeling that the movement and the level design barely matched up for what they were asking you to do in them.
Didn't enjoy enemy reactions to your weapons either (none).
Getting hung up on geometry and dying enemies only to bounce off certain surfaces and tiny critter after jumps instead of sliding along them was my absolute kryptonite in this, even getting me legit angry at times.
The amount of small platforms you navigate vs your movement speed is wild to me.
I will not be playing the expansions.

Half-Life is a brilliant classic game all throughout time and has had a major influence and impact on a lot of gamer's lives and future developers. Its a game that's not told through dialogue or with other characters as much. Its a game where you have to piece together some bits yourself and let your imagination wonder whats happening at times.
The story is a mix of you being caught up in an experiment that unleashes new alien life into the facility you're working in. As you try to escape and find ways out to the surface a group of black ops soldiers try to scrub the facility clean. You are mixed in a world of friend and foe which its hard to tell who is who. Could other humans be your allies or could they be your doom and will you survive the alien menace.
It's a game that has some wonderful puzzles to it and definitely makes you think about how to solve them and overcome them. Throughout the game you'll come across multiple puzzles and each one is different and depending on how well you are at puzzles they shouldn't be to challenging.
It's the first game in its series and its not perfect by any means there's the odd technical issue or glitching through objects or simply not being able to go where you need to. What it lacks for in those issues it makes up for in a great experience and something new at the time.
I would easily recommend the game and so would a few others i know. It's a game with a huge nostalgic factor to those of us who played it when it first came out. This game was the first of its series and only went and improved itself into the second game.

Playing it because it's an important game in the same way I eat fish because you're supposed to. I want to play Half Life 2 but I'd be missing out if I skip this. The platforming sections are really frustrating - I didn't realise I was up for a TMNT on NES experience. Still satisfying to clear sections, although requiring saves every few seconds so I'm not stuck here forever.
