Played it in the past on my ps3 and i LOVED that game. Talked with a friend about it today and thought that i HAVE to replay it and man....it was just as good. So sad that there is no remake/remastered or even a third game, really enjoyed it and you should try it aswell. For its age the graphics arent even that bad! try it...cmon

Short, but sweet! It is based upon a loved from the 1990s and it brings action to the table that does not disappoint. Not a hard game, but I guarantee you'll enjoy every second of it!

"The Darkness II" offers a unique blend of comic book-style violence and empowerment as protagonist Jackie Estacado wreaks havoc on his enemies, utilizing his demonic powers in an artful display of destruction. The combat is significantly improved from its predecessor, though the story takes time to develop. As Jackie grapples with his powers and the loss of his love, Jenny, the narrative becomes more personal and emotionally resonant. While the story occasionally feels lazy, recycling plot devices from the original game, it ultimately shines through Jackie's touching struggle with grief. The pacing benefits from slower, story-focused scenes that contrast with intense combat, allowing players to enjoy the thrill of dismembering foes with Jackie's dual-wielding human and demonic limbs. The experience system encourages experimentation in combat, rewarding players for creative kills. However, the campaign suffers from polish issues, including bugs, broken animations, and repetitive enemy designs, which detract from the overall experience. The multiplayer mode extends the game's narrative, allowing players to take on missions as Darkness-powered assassins, providing additional fun and gameplay hours. Verdict: Despite its flaws, "The Darkness II" is an engaging shooter that combines a compelling narrative with brutal combat, making players feel powerful. While it may not be the best shooter of 2012, it stands out for its unique storytelling and gameplay.

Good game. I got invested in Jackie and Jenny's love story. Though I would have appreciated if the devs didn't mess with the original art style of the console versions. That creates noticeable visual inconsistencies and visibility issues in some areas. But overall the story was good and the gameplay was fun once you get the hang of it. Pro tip: set the mouse sensitivity really low. It's very high by default.

The Darkness II * 6/10
I'm sharing my honest thoughts on The Darkness II after replaying it on PC. It's been years since I first played both the original and its sequel on Xbox 360.
Story
While the story is still engaging, I found it somewhat underwhelming as it progressed, especially toward the finale. The abrupt ending is quite jarring, and it's a shame they never made a third game, leaving the narrative feeling incomplete.
Graphics
The graphics might turn off some people, but it's important to remember this game is based on a comic book series. It fully embraces that comic book style; if you look closely at the characters, you'll notice a distinct hand-drawn design. So, don't let the unique visuals deter you from playing.
Soundtrack
Composed mostly of mood-setting movements, the soundtrack effectively builds a dark atmosphere. While lacking standout, memorable themes, the music generally functions well. However, the asylum sections are a significant highlight, where the music truly captures and enhances the unsettling essence of those moments.
Gameplay
This is a first-person arcade shooter, and it definitely plays like one. While there's a bit of clunkiness, especially with high DPI mouse settings (you'll need to lower it significantly as the game doesn't support it well), the overall experience is solid. On the hardest difficulty, it's genuinely challenging. If you're craving that old-school arcade feel, this game absolutely delivers.
Pros
Engaging Story & Atmosphere: Despite its ending, the narrative is captivating, and the game excels at building a dark, immersive world. True Arcade Shooter: The gameplay loop is fast, brutal, and incredibly fun, offering a satisfying challenge, especially on higher difficulties. Unique Art Style: The comic book inspiration is brilliantly executed, giving the game a distinct and visually appealing look.
Cons
Modern Hardware Bug: On newer systems, you'll need to enable V-Sync to cap your FPS at 60. Without this, you'll encounter game-breaking bugs. Underwhelming Abilities: On harder difficulties, your abilities feel less impactful and can be somewhat lacking. Sequel Dependency: The story heavily relies on knowledge from the first game, making it less accessible as a standalone experience. Unfulfilling Ending: The abrupt conclusion is a major letdown, leaving the story feeling incomplete due to the lack of a third game.
