This is an amazing(ly good looking) game. However it is a port and super poorly optimized. I had to downgrade my audio to 48k Sampling to stop it from being crackly. It automatically opens Steam VR. There is no Keyboard and Mouse control. I had to connect a controller to even skip the 20 minute intro video (REALLY?!?!?)
I would say wait for native control, but considering this came out in 2018, I would not hold your breath. Can't recommend based on PC optimization

+还可以的机甲游戏,虽然03年的吧。

+音效有点轻飘飘的,还是更喜欢装甲核心那种重工业式的

This game is not good. It has some very cool art and the mecha theme is very cool, but man, it plays badly. Combat is super repetitive and just button-mashing, there is no strategy, no nothing. Lore is also very weak, you barely follow any store, just go from room to room fighting the same enemies again and again. It's very boring.

Nice atmosphere. Nice on Steam Deck after mildly clunky set up options selections. Nice on PC VR after same. Nice that the save file is shared and synced between those.
Super awkward art choices are present: clearly phallic cockpit location and repositioning for fast travel... But what can I say? ...

Had to download a mod to get Japanese audio. I like the gameplay, but it's not quite what i expected when i saw a mecha game. There's a lot of grabbing enemy robots and swinging or throwing them at their friends. The one vs many fights are pretty reasonable and fun, but the boss fights break a bunch of rules which funnels player actions into doing the same thing over an over. It's fun getting new abilities even if I never used over half of them. The major plot is fun, but the characters being a bunch of tropes is disappointing. I did enjoy Dingo and ADA.

I'm about an hour in.
It's everything I remember from the playstation original.
Was worth buying on sale, cut scenes look good and the game while a lil easy still holds up I would say.
Not a perfect port. My main gripe is the ultrawide aspect ratio 21:9 isn't there.
I recommend it for anyone who wants the nostalgia buzz. Or, if it's on sale and you like scifi mech hack and slashes a la gundam or armored core, you'll like this.

Mecha masterpiece with great visuals, awesome gameplay and amazing soundtrack. Just don't play it without the Japanese dub mod.

Incredibly underrated PS2 gem (or the least overrated game of all time, shoutout to the old super best friends channel)
The gameplay is impeccable and fluid with a presentation unlike most games back then that makes it age so well. It's a breezy 6 hour ride but very much worth your time, even with the cheesy english dub.
Also please turn off vsync just to get 60 fps only!! This was one of those speed tied to the frame rate games which will have the game becoming a literal blur when it's on. The VR mode is optional btw (I haven't tried it out yet at the time of this review).

I felt the need to leave a positive review to reward what I feel like are very well thought-out VR features. They aren't perfect, and in fact it's almost more frustrating because of how close it is to being so, but its more than good enough. The inside of the cockpit has been lovingly rendered and you are given an entire field of vision above and around your shoulders that makes keeping track of the action easy.
However the best feature, and why I ultimately decided to leave this review, was the ingenious way that they use your line of sight for gameplay. You aim your gun by tilting your head towards the enemy you'd like to fire at, and you also orient yourself by looking at the direction you'd like to face and then clicking in the right stick. It sounds confusing, but once you put in a few levels, it becomes second nature. Your head always swiveling does wonders to combat the motion sickness you think would pop up with action this fast and kinetic. It is such a simple solution that I'm shocked I haven't seen it done in more games to allow for faster and more bombastic gameplay.
The only negatives here are that you are forced into controller use, and that your in-cockpit radar is a bit hard to read once things get hectic. It would have been cool to use your hands, but the way the gameplay works means it would have probably been really hard to pull off consistent Smash Combos in the heat of things. Even if you don't have VR, this version fixes some issues that other ports have, making it the definitive version of ZOE2. There really is no reason to skip this if you are a fan of this game, or if you'd like to pilot a super fast giant anime robot in VR.

You do not need VR to play this game.
After years, that one scene can be played without horrendous slowdown and FPS chop.
