Has some of the worst in-game art & most annoying mechanics of any TD game I have ever played. & I've played quite a few.

Doesn't have much depth. Offers about 10 hours of fun. I'd only but if it's on sale. Nice soundtrack.

My favorite tower defence game. Though 1, and especially 1.5, as well as the level pack, have a special place in my heart - nothing beats this one. I like that the paid version adds a few new levels, keeping the vast majority of stuff free.

Its solid, the options for placement feel limited, so your resource management is more important, especially since you have.... two? really, two?..... spells you can use that will make or break your 3 star run. I didn't play this growing up so with no nostalgia, its worth the 5 bucks, and defiantly worth it on sale.

Later levels are significantly imbalanced and the game is crashy. Get the Ultimate Edition instead. Much more balanced and, at least in my experience, doesn't crash.

The original was great. The extra levels they added to the end of this game, not so much; those are literally impossible (I tried every combination I could and still failed). Ah well.

- Game frequently either has missing graphics upon startup and/or on the mission selection screen as well as constant crashes; which often requires multiple game launches until it fixes itself temporarily.
- The dwarf maps are absolutely miserable to play as the game shifts into heavily encouraging the player to use special currency multiple times to make perfect runs (if you're collecting Steam Achievements) possible. Especially on the final map where mistakes can easily occur if one did not have enough special currency saved before the final boss appears.
- Dwarf units have gimmicks that are not fun to play against. Things such as tanky units that can spam abilities to disable towers, shielded units that reduce damage to a minimum and spawn in groups, enemies that gain a massive speed buff, etc.
- Grinding the special currency is mind-numbingly boring. It's completely randomized and only drops from defeated enemies. If you're aiming to collect Steam Achievements, you'll need an excessive amount to tackle the late game stages and will find yourself farming for it for hours.
Overall: It was enjoyable during the main story missions and the Barbarian and Pirate maps brought an interesting challenge, but the Dwarf maps wiped any enjoyment as it introduced annoying gimmick enemies and a reliance on spending special currency.
