Do you want a game that seems to have put more effort into enabling trading cards than it's own development?
Do you want a broken haunted house simulator made of free stock assets haphazardly assembled into something that vaguely resembles a coherent game if you squint?
Do you want enemies that range from useless because they can't figure out a door frame to frustratingly deadly because you can't get away from them with your limited and slow to fill sprint meter?
Do you want to crawl slow as Christmas as though you were playing as an 80 year old man?
Do you want to pay real money for baby's first asset flip?
Then boy, do I have a game for you.

This game is absolutely terrible in my opinion. While the graphics look somewhat alright in some aspects like the buildings in the first area or the water in the second area, the sound, controls, and gameplay are dreadful. This game has very loud noises such as the "gunshot" sound when you bump into the doors or walls or the screaming and wailing sounds you would hear in the second area; it's to the point where the volume must be kept as low as it can go. The controls are horrendous and moving the mouse feels like your character is going through a tub of marmalade, it's so sticky and slow. And the gameplay is also another awful aspect. It's a very linear path to the end to avoid zombies and other creatures, but for a first area, it becomes difficult just to get through a maze in the first area, for example, and the second area doesn't serve much of a purpose beyond going to the end as there are no creatures I've encountered. Overall, I'd say avoid this game as much as you can as they are very little redeemable qualities for this.

Project First Contact
Positives:
+ Some of the graphics is ok
+ Its in first person
+ Sometimes its so bad its fun to laugh at
Negatives:
- Extremely badly made
- Horrible level design
- Forced and unnatural "jump-scares"
- You can run only for a very short amount of time
- Walking is painfully slow, and makes you die all the time
- Enemies are horribly made and follows you everywhere
- Everything has way too low gamma
- You cant jump, and you get stuck a lot of places
- Bad and random sounds that makes no sense at all
- The special effects are unnecessary and horribly bad
- So glitchy and full of game breaking bugs its a big joke to call this a game
- Very frustrating to play because of the above
If this "game" was called Project Worst Game Ever, I would have said well done, youve made it.
Unfortunately its not, so this was my first and last contact with it.
Avoid it like the plague.

idk what this game is trying to be but it sure isn't doing a good job of it. holy hell. jumpscares for no reason that arent even scary, just loud. loud = funny ig? wow. if youre into games where its impossible to walk on a bridge because you cant jump up a tiny ledge then this is the game for you. i don't understand this game. maybe its just not for me. considering the reviews are mixed maybe im just on the half that doesnt understand. maybe for some people its so bad that its good but not me

The game told me to run away from some kind of aliens because I can't kill them. I don't like running, so I don't like this game. Also, the volume setting gets reset after you die.

The only thing that comes to mind that could explain this game is the developer must have been really, REALLY high on something when they sat and put this together in what I can only imagine would have been a few hours.
There is an occasional moment or two in level 2 that looks a little interesting and reminded me of Blight town but otherwise this was some mindless asset flip, I mean right off the bat in the opening you have what looks like a demon which could easily be mistaken for a Doom 3 asset and UFO's
Then lets address this UFO thing... I dont have a clue why they are there or what the point of that was? Floating heads well if this was a Japanese horror and the game setting was in some Japanese Shrine or Old Mansion I could go along with it but it looks like a generic western land (Doesnt seem to be stated)
Cops without faces? maybe that's why we have floating heads? maybe the dev's forgot to attach it to the body? (I know they are 2 enemy types but was funny to me)
Lets see, we also have Leatherfaces twice removed dopey cousin as well who lumbers after you at such a slow pace but yet you cant all that much out run him since you seem to be the most unfit person since the students in Corpse Party: Blood Drive.
The gameplay loop seems to be this:
Wander aimlessly down the linear path till you see enemy, Run from enemy for about 7-10 seconds till your stamina runs out, get slapped around by said enemy while you get annoyed, haplessly stumble upon load zone to next stage. Rinse and repeat.
Oh I forgot, random screaming in your ear too for no reason xD
To be clear though I stopped at the mansion (stage 3) and don't have much will to continue based more on the stamina system than anything else.
I'm one for these sorta scraping the bottom of the barrel in the steam catalogue (once you can get past all the memory match / slide puzzle games) if i'm honest. A Guilty pleasure. Unless you want to see a mis-mash of random assets in a frustrating game-play loop and something I can only imagine was made by someone that was high, I would pass on this one.

This may be one of the worst games I have played on Steam.
First, let's get to the first two times I tried to boot the game up. The first time it crashed out of the blue during the opening cutscene. The second time the monitor flicked off and when it awoke the resolution had been changed (the game would no longer respond) and my default speakers had been switched.
The game seeming to fuck with my settings aside, once I finally was able to play the game itself it quickly became apparent the game would consist of little more than "run away from things chasing you" to the exit. These are never very exciting as you keep a small gap between you and any assortment of floating heads, skeleton torsos, or poorly-animated dudes with chainsaws or "cop-looking" dudes with no faces chasing you. The game seems to throw in the sounds of women screaming at the top of their lungs (obnoxiously heard in the game's Steam trailer), explosion noises, witches cackling, and diabolical laughter at random. This is neither surprising, scary, or immersive and just comes off as annoying.
Parts of the game don't look terrible. There is a strange cave segment with flying platforms twirling by in the distance that can look surreal and interesting, but before you are even allowed to take in your surroundings a jarring shriek from one of the off-screen women (is that supposed to be the player character?) blasts your ears OR some goofy ass enemy starts to encroach on your space and drain your life.
I thought I would give this game a whirl at the cheap price of 50 cents and I don't often say games aren't worth such a low asking price, at least to peruse if you're marginally interested but Project First Contact offers very little in any way of enjoyment. You just spend the whole time running away from things chasing you while having to wait for your sprinting stamina to recharge so you barely are able to keep distance from them. You are able to pick up a camera with night vision at one point -or a flashlight- but beyond them illuminating the path ahead of you so you don't fall off of a section down to a lower one and have to repeat the area they serve no purpose. From what I played you get no weapons or ammo and the only other items you have to pick up are keys placed right next to the doors they unlock. TENSION.
Rather than making a smattering of disparate levels (at one point you're running through a creepy mansion and then the next level you're suddenly in a police station?? What?) it would have been nice to just experience one fully-realized locale with better game mechanics. As it stands, Project First Contact is a game where you will spend your time fleeing from dumb-looking enemies through bland, dark environments while being regaled with the soothing sounds of high-pitched wails and random explosion noises.

It's a linear runner that is littered with visual effects garbage, out of context audio stings & trash jumpscares; it's made worse by a garbage stamina system that takes too long to recharge making all the levels feel arduos amid all the effects going on.
The game opens in a house that uses the old 3D glasses effects, that sort of red/green lens hideous, nauseating effect that I haven't seen before & don't wish to again; the level was also upside down & I have no idea if that was intentional or just that this is more Steam trash that isn't playtested by anyone with enough sway to convince the creators to not release this.
You get a camera with nightvision, there didn't seem to be a reason other than the level is dark so you can use this to see, but the game is linear enough that you can just feel where to go.
You have a mini-map which just shows the object you can pick up if you like (camera/a flashlight) & then a white box with an X that I guess marks the end of the level marker, but in level 2 the level ended for me before I got to that marker & when I apparently followed an incorrect path in the third level & died by walking through some dark, apparently killer environment I just gave up.
This is one of those examples of the best of Steam garbage, all the worst elements of asset flipping & visual effects trash are here AND stamina, if you ever want a horrible Best Of collection of that then this is recomended, but that is a niche market. No one else deserves this experience.

I bought this game off of a steam coupon for 50 cents, and after 9 minutes of playing I requested a refund immediately. I don't know whether they tried to get a few bucks from the unfortunate soul that played this game for more than two hours just to see if it was good or if they were black out drunk making something in Gmod, but this has to be the most low budget game I've ever played
