its a short but sweet horror game. Has come creepiness, responsive controls.
Turn up gamma in windows before you play to avoid annoying darkness.
Wasnt bad at all, worth it for the sake of the genre

Picked this up on sale, played it on the hardest difficulty. The objectives are pretty tedious and require you to remember some things but overall pretty damn fun and gets your heart racing when you see her chasing you.

This is a half decent indie-horror fetch quest game that is now free.
The house layout is quite small and easy to get familiar with while the creature that chases you is random in a sense of appearing and glitching out and sometimes killing you through a door or whatnot. Kinda creepy at first but becomes laughable quickly.
Check it out for a quick little horror fix.

Since this game has mixed reviews, and you are wondering whether you should try it out or not, I will try to explain what other gamers who wrote a negative have experienced.
The game being short: This is entirely true, game takes place in a rather small mansion with a lot of doors but most of those doors open to the same room, most rooms have two doors. Game revolves around going to different rooms to perform certain tasks, and finishing the game, even if you fail multiple times or get confused on your blind runs will probably take around 30-60 minutes.
The game being similar to Slenderman, this is also partially true, however you have to do some of the things in certain sequences, such as you have to place altars in only certain rooms, and after placing them, you have to bless them in a certain order. Although this doesn't really add any depth, it is still not as simple as Slenderman games where you run around randomly finding papers. It also makes sense, in Slenderman you just run and find papers, in this one, you do a ritual and rituals have several different sequences to banish the possessed girl.
The keys: Yes you have to look for keys at a certain part of the game, but this is only a certain part of the game, not the entire game. You have to enter a special 'room' -no spoilers- and you need to find three keys, while the possessed girl chasing you. That it takes time to search a single drawer for a couple seconds is somehow presented by reviewers as negative, but it is a game design that adds tension to the action aspect of the game - you hurry.
To press spacebar to activate a ritual: Yes, you have to press repeatedly but reviewers, I am certain, just want to complain for the sake of it because I tried it myself and it doesn't take more than 5 seconds, and there are like only 6 altars that have to be activated, so you have to repeatedly press spacebar 30 seconds in total, but all altars are in different rooms so you do it one at a time. I'm pretty certain any gamer can tap a button repatedly for 5 seconds without feeling annoyed.
That the girl chasing you: This is not a walking simulator type of game, you have to avoid the girl, run away for a while and she goes to a different room when you make enough distance so you can go back and do what is needed. This is how this game is designed, it isn't like a unique negative feature of this game. There are so many games like this. Apparently reviewers didn't play enough.
That is all to it, I finished it in 50 minutes, died twice, and enjoyed the experience. The store page already tells you that it is a short experience, so there is no false advertisement or anything. If you are ok with all of that and into this genre I'm sure you will enjoy it, but if you are looking for a longer and more high quality thing you have more options available in Steam as well.

Binary system of rating fails me here. This red thumb is more of a sideways than a down, so take this review with a grain of salt...
This is a really fun and challenging that loses its sparkle after about 30 minutes.
You start off in a haunted house that has been abandoned because it's just way too spoopy! Cool, that's right up my alley!
The first tasks you're given are simple enough-- Gather some candles, complete a ritual.
But then the curve skyrockets and you're left being chased mostly non-stop through the house while trying to place the candles you've gathered. This is where I ended up quitting.
No matter what I did, it gets to a point where you can not outrun the AI and you will not be able to finish the game. Maybe if the Devs would tune the AI down just a hair, it could be doable. But at the moment it's pretty obnoxious.
That being said:
It's free! Give it a whirl if you think you're fast enough to beat the game. It's fun until you hit the wall on the altar portion of the tasks. :)

In Evil Possession, players take on the role of a paranormal investigator that has been sent to a family home to determine what is happening with their daughter. The events soon conclude that she has been possessed by a demonic spirit, and is in need of an emergency exorcism; good thing you brought along your trusty handbag for performing such rites.
The gameplay is both simple and straightforward; you run around the two-level mansion, gathering needed items and setting up for the exorcism ritual. However, you're being hunted all the while by the possessed girl, and you must heed the warnings of your EMF Detector to avoid the areas that she is currently lingering in. Being caught means starting back at the beginning of what you were doing, for example if you were hunting for 6 candles and got busted on candle 5, you start back over at 0 candles. You also have to keep your lantern lit by visiting oil recharging stations.
All in all, Evil Possession takes about 30-60 minutes to complete. There are two difficulties, normal and hard, but the only difference is how frequently the possessed girl shows up. The graphics are okay, the soundtrack is pretty good, and despite the game running on Unity Personal Edition, the performance is stable. The significant price drop (from almost $10 CAD to only $1.19 CAD) renders Evil Possession a recommendation. It's a decent little game that kills about an hour, and it offers a surprising amount of tense and fun moments.

Pretty good for a short game. Similar to 'Final Take' and 'The Dolls' in the sense that you are essentially searching for items while playing tag with the monster. The Geieger counter style warning system is a nice touch, and the artistic style is quite impressive too. Ultimately, 'Evil Possession' is about atmosphere and it doesn't disappoint. The combination of expressionistic lighting and aptly unnerving soundtrack combine to keep you on edge right from the get go, making the jump scare/sudden death nature of the game all the more shocking.
The length of the game is the biggest draw back for it though, as is the fact that unlike some of the high-end indy Horror games there is only so much exploration that can be done. Given that the game's setting is a classical latino hacienda, it's a little disappointing that, unlike 'Layers of Fear' or the 'Amnesia' games, you aren't able to open more of the drawers and cupboards.
All in all, a likable affair which is good for a cheap thrill if you're into Supernatural frights.

I recommend this game, though reluctantly.
It should be less than $7.99 - I finished the game in under and hour, and that was with me doing a lot of running around trying to find keys. I did enjoy the game play and the sound effects were creepy enough, though the jump scare death when she finds you is definitely anticlimactic. The tasks are interesting enough but the 'map' is kind of small - would have been nice to have different areas open up as you progress. The cinematics are good and I am really glad that it saves your progress (for the most part) if you die.

Evil Possession is a horror game where you play as a priest trying to perform an exorcism.
Story:
You play as a Priest. A family has moved into a house and start noticing things are incredibly wrong and the daughter has been possessed. You arrive and your goal is to complete an exorcism and save the family home.
The story of the game is not that great to be honest. The whole premise is you're playing as a priest who was asked to come to the family home to expel the spirits, but every item you need for the ritual you somehow forgot to bring, it's actually quite funny. Apart from that the game is actually more focused on gameplay and scares.
Graphics:
For an indie game is actually looks pretty nice. The rooms are dimly lit and are only illuminated by your lamp or the the candles and lights from the mansion. The main enemy of the game however looks pretty stupid, it's supposed to be scary, but her walking towards you every so often just made me laugh because of her crazy walk.
The environments themselves look nice, but there is a problem when you're hunting for items in the cabinets. They start to look pretty much the same, I wish there was more variety in the rooms, so I can tell what I looked through and what I didn't.
Audio:
The audio design is pretty decent. The music is creepy, but it's light on the ears and the other sound effects like the crackling of your EMF device and the heart beat of your character speeding up when the girl appears deliver quite the atmosphere.
Gameplay:
The gameplay in the game is a mixed bag for me. One thing I really liked is how cool the concept of performing an exorcism is in game form. The game is mostly a Slender The 8 Pages clone. You run around the house looking for whatever item you need in that moment. One moment it's run around and look for candles and then run around and set up ritual sites.
While you're doing that, you are constantly chased by the possessed daughter and she is insanely annoying. You can't fight her all you can do is run away. She is pretty easy to avoid, on the normal difficulty she never even managed to get me, but dealing with her is a pain. Every so often she will appear out of nowhere and chase you, until she will give up and reappear a bit later.
She is slow and easy to avoid, but there are a few problems that you will face when she appears. A lot of the rooms are dead ends, so once you go in one of those rooms, there will be no way out and she will get you, so you need to be fully ready to run away once that EMF device goes haywire. Another is she might teleport right in front of you and there might not be enough time to react and she will kill you.
Another big issue is the key hunt near the end of the game. You need to find three keys to unlock a door and you must search everywhere to find them. Since there's a lot of places to look, it becomes insanely tedious to look for them, not to mention the daughter will be much more active in this section. Also not to mention the game doesn't mark where you've looked as the drawers and cabinets will close as soon as you're done looking for them.
Verdict:
Another of the situations where I wish Valve gave a neutral option. This game is not bad, but it's not great either and at one point the game actually cost money and if that was still the case, I would have likely given it a negative review, but since then it went free to play so I think it's actually worth playing through it at least once. The game is pretty easy and will only last you roughly an hour and I think it's fine for a fun quick pick up and play.
Final Rating:
6/10
Pros:
+ Great atmosphere
+ Interesting concept
Cons:
- The chases get annoying at the end
- Boring story
- That key hunt segment sucks

This is another title that falls victim to Steam's stupid black or white rating system. Evil Possession is not a bad game. I repeat, Evil Possession is not a bad game. I just can't say it comes with enough content to be worth paying $8 for.
The graphics are about average to what you would expect from a higher quality indie title. The sound is good as well. Good creepy back ground ambiance, the 'demon' makes unsettling growling noises while she hunts you down, etc. I had zero crashes or issues running the game on my short play through, which honestly is a rarity with some of these indie games.
The game delivers early on the scare factors. Creepy dolls, the unsettling noises of your female demon friend as she chases you all over the freaking world while you try to do typical fetch quests such as getting candles, making seance circles, etc. However, after the inital fear wears off, and she kills you a few times, you lose the feeling of fear from her, and it just becomes a battle of will. Seeing as she pops up randomly through the floor, and constantly interrrupts you while you try and do your rituals. I seriously spent at least 5 mins trying to build one seance circle because she just would not leave me the hell alone.
The only real negative I have is the length and the replayability of the content. I literally ran through it the first time blind, and after about 40 mins of game play, I'm 95% sure I'm on the last section of the game already. (If there is more to this game I will 100% come back and edit, and change my score. But judging from the flow of the game, and the other reviewers, I don't think that is the case.) That is just is way too short. I can't see this having a ton of replayability either. Maybe one would want to possibly try out hard mode after beating normal, if you are some sort of twisted masochist or something. On normal she starts getting pretty uh..."friendly" after about the 3rd seance circle on.
If you are just an Indie horror nut, and feel the need to scratch that itch, then you probably would enjoy this game. Like I said, I had fun playing it. I just can't see how there is $8 worth of content to be had. ($8 isn't a lot for a game I know, but I am just basing this off of similar games I've played around this price point) Might be definitely worth picking up if it goes on sale in the future.
I'm going to include a gameplay video I made in the end if you want to get a feel for how the game looks/plays.

Edit 05-22-17: I just finished hard mode, and thus the entirety of Evil Possession. Completing the game put me at 9 hrs... I guess you'll have to judge for yourself whether you think that is enough bang for your buck play time wise.
I have to say that the majoirty of that was just spent running from our #1 stalker demon girl, as I searched for candles, seance circle locations, and keys. It was repetitive tasks, but she kept the action somewhat fresh just because you constantly have to run away from her. I just wish the devs included some...ANY story in the game. You are an exorcist. You show up at the house. The owners are gone. You have a bible and an emf reader in your bag...That's it. No background on the girl, the family, the house, you...etc. Missed opportunity there for sure.
All in all, I had fun with the game. It made for good recording material. But I'm some one who enjoyes chase games like this, slender man, etc. For your average Joe, I'm just not sure there is enough game content to be worth the $8 price tage. That's just my opinion. You'll have to decide for yourself. Fun game though, and I will be checking out what the developer puts out next.
