Very good DLC, looked through all of them to find one that would give a good quality spinning rod for use throughout leveling. The lighter rod is perfect. Picked this up at level 6 for 20 bucks. Having the big livekeeper is great and the credits and baitcoins really help. Haven't used the heavy rod yet. I combined this purchase with the $4.99 sport float pack. It gives you a really nice float package and more credits and baitcoins. I plan on using baitcoins for ultimate licenses.

In all honesty, this is one of THE most useful packs in this game for lures. it comes with 2 rods [one of them would be for muskies and the sorts] but in all honesty i just didnt like that one so i sold it. but for muskie fishermen and people usually going after the larger fish, the rod would be perfect. But the lighter one. ITS GREAT. i think thats one the 2 rods i keep with me at all times for its basically my all usage rod. it works great on every medium to medium large fish and can go up against some of the salmon in alberta. if you need a lure rod pack, this is the one you should get.

I used this DLC when I participated in the Winter Pike Tour tournament. Overall I had fun. The pack provides two good rod and reel combos for lure fishing, the PowerEsox/MuskieSpin and PikeWinner/NorthernLite.
One thing to note is that the PikeWinner rod is somewhat difficult to fish with a frog popper, mostly due to its length. One way to fish frog poppers that I find effective is to make a leaping/popping retrieve: strike the rod tip with RMB while slowly retrieving the line to start popping, then stop reeling and swing the rod to your right or left by sweeping the mouse or track pad to make the popper "leap." Because the PikeWinner is a long rod, it is difficult to swing the rod back to its original position and find the lure again if you are zoomed in on the rod tip/lure (the rod tip will have moved too far). I suggest not zooming in on the lure as a compromise between the rod's length and the need to quickly recover from a frog "leap" (whereas if I am using a minnow-type popper lure, I usually don't make leaps and stay zoomed in to see if a fish is chasing my lure). Additionally, the NorthernLite reel is somewhat slow for this application, so I recommend taking advantage of the fact that the MuskieBox rod case can carry two additional reels and purchasing a Prima reel with a fast retrieve that you can carry along with you and switch to when using a lure like a slug (not included in this DLC but a very effective pike/pickerel lure) or a frog popper. Be sure to keep the retrieve speed slow (one or two notches out of four) when popping to avoid missing strikes, although I will use a higher retrieve speed, up to three notches out of four, to recover from a leap.
One thing that is helpful for pike and muskellunge fishing that is not included in the DLC is a titanium leader. I am on the fence about using titanium leaders when fishing for pickerel. I find that if I keep my drag setting one notch below a full circle, I can usually avoid getting bitten off. However, if I can increase my drag to max (when line strength permits it), and I am targeting pike or pickerel, I will use a titanium leader because bite offs are much more frequent when the drag is at max tightness. Long story short, use some credits or baitcoins to buy a couple of titanium leaders (bear in mind that, when calculating the drag, you have to use the breaking point of the weakest component, whether it is the line or the leader).

As soon as you buy this the license time period starts . To me that makes no sense. A player should decide when to redeem his license. Look at the rods stats in every DLC 1st before buying , alot of them repeats itself wich i find a misleading and a negligent thing to do. The gear in this DLC is very good but not for a new player. Maybe wait til you hit level 5 ? This game is a pure pay to win CLEARLY but hey , it's still a good fishing game. My thumb is halway down.
