A sequel to Call of Combat, Divided we fall is very promising, but it's very bare bones at the moment. Gameplay elements are all there, combining fast thinking with deep tactics. The game is all about out thinking your opponent, and finding ways to flank, ambush or assault him amidst falling grenades. You got cover, prone, different weapons, and two sides to play as.
Sadly, the tutorial is nearly non-existant, there's no single player game mode (just a very basic "training" game mode where you can play solo or against other players) and a bunch of content is still to be released: more sides (Russians, partisans, British), [b]modding support,[/b] and further balancing.
You might want to hold to your money and wait for further development, but it's quite addictive and enjoyable as it is, and the devs are responsive and fixing bugs.
[b]If you like tactical squad games and RTS, you are probably going to love this[/b]

Didn't get any momentum of people playing, so no one plays it.
Says it's single player - but isn't really (could do with a campaign along the lines of the tutorial).
Decent idea, reasonable implementation, but you do need to micro manage your 4 soldiers as they don't move away from grenades and seem to like getting blown up.
Do I recommend buying this game? No. You're not likely to play it for long.
Do I think it's a bad game? No.
So I don't think it deserves a negative review - so that's why on balance I decided to mark it as a recommendation.

Divided We Fall takes the good old classic style of RTS from games such as Call of Combat and tries to bring it to the more modern design in regards to graphics and gameplay. Sadly however it feels like they were on the right track but gave up.

The Good

1. Gameplay - The General feel of gameplay is rather nice, you have cover system where your forces will take cover to objects that you would know give you some sort of cover. You have a small squad of units that require you to work with other players to make the best out of your team and overall you have a decent of weapons to use/pick up such as sniper rifles, sub machine guns and etc. Overall everything felt nice.
2. Map Designs - The map designs are nicely done with a lot of terrian to use and allows forces to flank each other or use a lot of cover to advance forward.
3. Fog of War - A very nice feeling to the fog of war, you can't see either of your forces or enemies but you can hear the directional gun fire allowing you to create a general area to flank or support.

1. Buggy - Sadly the coop is broken, many times the game would crash at the end of the match or we be stuck in the game forever until trying to close the game. Many times I found randomly my forces either spawn with no weapons or have weapons but would just stand still without taking cover or firing back.
2. low or no playerbase - Sadly with no enough to keep players, it felt many times lacking in regards to player count. I found most of my companionship through playing with a close friend but looking for outside players seems unlikely.
3. Lack of gameplay - There isn't really much modes to enjoy, there isn't any special objective mode but mainly capture points or deathmatch. There is also a lack of variety in regards to units/equipment and etc.
4. A.Is from Hell - The A.I in this game is just evil...i found about 99% of games it would grenade spam me to hell...yeah it would literally be a game of toss as many grenades at the player to see how long he can dodge them...it was completely crazy.

What can be improved
================
1. Objective/story mode - Have a mode where players are given an objectives or an assault mode, objective mode could be like having one team defend a special objective such as an flak 88 while the other team must destroy it. The assault mode can be a large map where players have frontlines and must play a game of tug of war pushing their front lines closer to the enemy base, both teams can build bunkers, tank traps and etc to halt or slow down enemy player advancements.
2. Customization - Allow a more open squad customization adding classes and more equipment. For example have a medic class that can heal wounded players, have heavy support that can carry the heavy machine guns that require the unit to "set up" before use, have snipers/scouts that can see more of the map. Add Airborne that allows the squad to pick a random spawn throughout the map. Allow players to customize their uniform to better reflect their Squad making it feel more like their own. Allow a "X-Com" type squad system where your unit can level up but if killed (dies in combat too many times), they will be killed losing their level and forcing the player to retrain a new unit, this would allow a deeper connection between squads as they would move more carefully and plan more instead of "run and grenade" tactics.
3. More factions - Add more factions for players to enjoy. Like Japanese, Russians and etc
4. Add destruction - Allow grenades to destory cover forcing players to rethink.
Overall I have to say the game has a good chance but a lot needs to be changed/improved to bring more interest. At the moment I recommend avoiding as there isn't much to do to keep you going. The player base is rather low or dead and you can find other war games out there to give you a better experience.

Great fun tactical RTS. Because it is realtime and the battlefields are small, you have to move very fast and respond to all (4) of your soldiers to keep them alive.
Community is a little small right now, but there are always players around.
[i]Steep learning curve![/i] Be prepared to lose, and ask other players for help. The in-game hints/tutorials are not hugely informative.
Has a lot of potential. If unsure, worth picking up in a sale.

8.Play games that whether you win or lose you have a blast
I played the predecessor to this game, Call of Combat, which I put at least a thousand hours into and had been a part of whether it was big or small for six years. I sincerely don't regret a moment of it. I gained memories and experiences with this community that are irreplacable and built friendships that lasted years. I strongly urge people who like close communities and RTSs to try this game, it is the best of its kind and honestly is so unique it is the only of its kind lol. Having played and followed this interation fo the series since early Alpha back in 2012 any who have questions about the devs of the game and if they are reliable, can rest in assurance that they are willing to give what it takes to make this game succeed...Just visit the forum/website for this game. As soon as I saw that early access hit steam today I immediately put the 10 dollars down and will play this game for as long as the devs and being a college student allow me......
Also there is a free version for those who are still underwhelmed~~~~~

I miss the simplicity of 2am games, and finding diamonds in the rough like the original CoC. Simpler times. Thumbs up for nostalgic reasons, but a shame that this game never took off all the same.

I love the idea, I love the gameplay. This should be a home run.
No one plays.
I think I would refund it if I could.
It's been a while now. I assumed the player base would have expanded. I tire of waiting for it to do so.
After a while you forget you have it. And it just pads out your library.
It's just one of those games that may fade into obscurity. And honestly I think it's a shame that it might.
I would reccomend, but as I say you might not be able to get a game... :(

i don't write reviews often. but i have yet to play a single game because nobody is online.
but the UI doesn't seem broken...
the chat seems to be okay.
but sadly i waited well over two hours trying to get into a game.
All i can say is I can't recommend a game that can't be played. and this game isn't playable without other people.
If you have a group of four or more friends then go for it. otherwise move on. I have seen no community whatsoever to play the game with.

It needs some major balance tweaks and QoL enhancements.
Honestly 20 grenades is just too much. Thats pretty much the #1 cheese strat. Throw a grenade knock them down go shoot them. It's boring. Even by the end of the game you still have plenty of grenades left. Theres very little tactical gunplay, more tactical grenade play.
As for tactical gunplay... well the RNG is in your favor as far as not getting shot. If you're behind cover it's 0.0%-0.6% thats .6 percent chance of getting shot. So maybe in 20 minutes you might kill someone. Best yet, you are pretty much in cover if you go prone... which is pretty much instantanious btw. Which basically forces permanent relocation and grenade cheese strats like above. Theres no differentiating the type of cover, be it a car, a wall, a window, prone. They all work pretty much the same. If someone has a corner on a wall 0 percent chance of shooting them, even from the side. It's not fun...
So no private servers, no passwords, no ability to play with a couple people if you want.
Matches take forever to start, forever to launch, forever to get in a game, then when you're all dead, it takes forever watching them tap the points wandering around the map for awhile....
The ranking system is a blessing/curse. You're at the will of higher ranked players to start the matches, hand out weapons.

Fix some of the issues and it'd be better, but I sort of doubt it considering the community that like it how it is. If you haven't followed this game, I'd recommend against buying it.
Apparently the grenade tactics have been here since inception... Refunded. I'll check back later.
