Failed the second mission a couple times and realizing this game is not for me especially with it's horrendous matchmaking system and now I can't even refund A skill issue, but I can't shake off the feeling that I got scammed in some sort of way

Whoever made the trailers deserves a bonus, because this game is nothing like it seems. If you enjoy crouching around in fog for an hour and meleeing everything because you spawn with 20 bullets (the only good guns are pistols), then go for it. “But you get ammo packs during the mission!” they say. In reality, you hack a container only to find a single item: a lock melter—which, 95% of the time, is only useful for opening another container. Lock melter after lock melter after lock melter. You might find one, maybe two ammo packs—if you're lucky. And even then, they need to be split between everyone (if you get even more lucky and it has more than two charges), and when you use them, they give you 10 bullets and a stick of gum.

2796.2 hours played and only yesterday I realised this game even has achievements. Sitting at 43/57 now and still not done… guess that’s how you know I really love this game. Always a blast jumping in with randoms from Discord.

This one is a personal favorite. GTFO is a phenomenal PvE coop extraction shooter. The difficulty curve is definitely there, and you want friends to play this with over voice chat although I have no problems still finding games on the discord most of the time. This game gets atmosphere right. I wish I could experience it for the first time again. There are a good chunk of custom rundowns if you want to continue playing after the 80+ expeditions, this is a game you can get hundreds of hours of of easily. Runs can vary between 20ish mins to 2.5-3+ hours depending on mission and experience, but the payoff of finishing a particularly hard mission is very satisfying. It's very possible to play right for the entire mission and lose out based on 1 strategic misstep or if you mismanage your resources, so coordinating as a team is important.

This is a really fun game, one of my best friend's and I come back to this game every now and again and its just as easy to pick back up. Can be challenging at times but its always super fun.

Im sorry but when less than 4% of your playerbase has gotten past the first sector, you know you fucked up somewhere in the design process. Plus the games just... boring? I really feel this game is solid proof that difficulty does not automatically make your game good. Most people hate games that have you doing the same thing, yet this game gets praised for having you do... The same things. You see all the guns in the screenshots? dont even think about it, youre going to be using your melee weapon the entire time save for the finale where the entire sector is coming down on you. I just dont understand why this game would advertise itself to be something it clearly is not. This is not a horde shooter, this is a game where you crouchwalk around the same enemies over and over again. Hitting them in the head with the same charged melee attack in the same looking places for absolutely nothing in return. In conclusion I have to say, It really feels like this game only gained a playerbase because of how cool everything about it LOOKS. The art design for this game is great and I love it, I just wish I loved playing it.

**10/10 Would get screamed at by monsters again** If you’re tired of games that hold your hand, GTFO is here to punch your comfort zone in the face—and then send a horde of terrifying monsters to finish the job. This game is basically “Escape Room: Apocalypse Edition” where teamwork is less “Let’s chat and vibe” and more “Why did Steve just run into that room screaming?” GTFO has perfected the art of making you question every life choice while simultaneously making you laugh at your own panic-induced mistakes. Pro tip: Always bring friends, or prepare to have your soul crushed solo. The sound design alone will have you jumping like a cat in a thunderstorm, and the darkness? Let’s just say your flashlight is your best frenemie. If you love sweaty palms, heart-racing moments, and that delicious combo of terror and triumph, this game is your new best nightmare. I’m 90% sure my neighbors think I’m auditioning for a horror movie. In summary: GTFO doesn’t just make you play a game—it makes you *feel* alive. Also, may cause excessive yelling, salty tears, and uncontrollable laughter. 11/10 would get yelled at by teammates again.

Truly a fabulous game, but it is important that you manage your expectations. What it is NOT: - Easy - Only a shooter game - A solo game What it IS: - Extremely difficult and taxing - A strategic experience - Team-based gameplay Easy to learn, impossible to master. Buy at your own risk.

Best with friends, so that everyone can point fingers on who broke stealth while one of us is in the middle of the thicket of monsters. Some of the guns feel awfully unpractical given the stealthy tactical feel, but work out fine during heavier combat. The bots have a veeery happy trigger finger if you manage to even slightly break stealth. What I like about the game is three things: 1. WSHTF - When (manure) hits the fan The group suddenly realizes one of the abominations woke up, and/or someone pulled the trigger a bit too happily. Everyone's trying to find cover, angles, evaluating threats, getting jumped, or laying back because you knew the guys couldn't hold it in. 2. Preplanning, deciding how to clear a room, full team on it. One scans the room with a bio-scanner, gives out directions and numbers, turretman checks for good bottlenecks where to funnel targets should (see 1.) happen. Spearhead sneaks ahead to scout enemies. Few stragglers, high concentration. Sniper pops key targets and the room runs into the turret's sightline, and everyone opens fire. Beautiful. 3. GTFO, you know it. Running for your life, knowing the alert won't stop or the horde will get you before you before extraction if you don't get there on time. The sudden rush in the middle of a supposed defense, the panic and doubt if you have enough time in a game where a moment ago you had all the time in the world to sneak around your enemies. The fragility yet the strength of the player, the knowledge & skill-based gameplay... *Chef's kiss*. Beautiful. And horrifying. I've only seen little, but what I'd love to see is an option for more risky gameplay, like wall demolition that causes lots of noise but lets you open up unorthodox paths, hand grenades for added tactical room-clearing flair or a choice between armor types. Like, a mild bonus in defense in exchange for more noise and less speed, or vice versa, although it's not neccessary.
