The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd Reviews

Half a year after Trails in the Sky SC, Father Kevin Graham takes on a routine mission on behalf of the Septian Church. He and his partner are then plunged into a realm that follows an unnaturally strict set of rules and is as intent to open old wounds as it is to keep them behind closed doors.

That brief hesitation was all it took to spawn a great evil. It crawled through the fields, ran through the hills, spread disaster in the skies above.

A great send-off to the Sky trilogy- more or less an epilogue to the game with some funny and lighthearted moments and then they jumpscare you with Star Door 15 and you'll never be the same again. Realistically, if you made it through FC/SC, give the 3rd a real shot. It's not as long as SC, it took me about 35 hours to finish (52 if going by the in-game timer) and was about an 8/10 the whole way through. Chapter 6 is a slog and annoying and I hate THAT boss fight with a burning Earth Wall passion but I'll be damned if Chapter 7 didn't make up for it. I love Kevin Graham!! Can't wait to see him when he shows up in Beyond the Horizon when I get there in like, 3 years. Yippee! Also, this game probably has the most solid soundtrack out of the three games so far. Thank you, Ryo Takeshita, even though you aren't credited in the game, yikes. Anyway, the game was good, now on to Zero and the 8 other games I have to finish before the inevitable 3rd remake.

Kevin is an absolute goat, they need to make more protagonists like him. This is the game that closes off the sky trilogy and you better already have trails from zero and trails to azure in your cart once you're done here

This shit is fucking generational. My favorite in the trilogy and that's saying something. Long arduous dungeon crawling? Tangential mini-games? Lloyd you absolute bitch. Fishing Baron you absolute bitch. How about another ass kicking in poker, Jack? Character writing that punches through the skies? Man, talk about being catered to ME.

An end of an era. What an amazing journey this trilogy has been. An absolute must play despite the weird game structure of dungeon crawling and intrusive lore doors with no regards for other people's privacy. A great study into the psychology of KEVIN GRAHAM and does huge wonders for his character, elevating him to one of the best characters in Trails. Despite what people say about the story and the game, the gameplay itself is extremely enjoyable, though it can get a bit more monotonous due to the dungeon designs not changing that much still. I had a blast and also a huge meltdown saying goodbye to all my lovable characters( and chests) one last time. Really looking forward to Trails To Zero and seeing more of what trails has to offer!

Trails the 3rd is best described as less of a full "RPG", and more as a dungeon crawler with intermittent beats of the Trails story, some following a traditional chapter structure, and some following a "door" system which is a complete-on-your-time method of getting additional beats of story to wrap up SC's loose ends. This does mean that unlike FC being a barometer for if you'd like SC, 3rd stands on it's own as an installment for the first arc of the Trails series. If the dungeon crawler aspect turns you off of 3rd, it may be wiser to just look up a playthrough online to get the storybeats and just move on, but if you are in love with the Trails SC combat system, you are in for a real treat. Not only are the normal turn bonuses supplemented with new ones like "Death" which causes a OHKO for the target, the 4 elemental weaknesses\strengths are fully fleshed out with Time, Mirage, and Space, and both orbments and equipment are fully expanded upon with items like the Soul gem, which trades Arts EP for Crafts CP, or the various Plus accessories, granting stat boosts along with the normal status resistances. Combine this with the very large playable cast, the game allows for very diverse playstyles unlike the much more rigid FC or the looser SC. Given I love Sky's combat systems, 3rd is very dear to me, but I can understand why some people would not be so fond of 3rd.

Takes place in a dimension where time doesn't flow and you see character backstories with doors throughout the game. Welcome back Persona 3 FES The Answer.

Another fun game in the series. If you enjoyed the first 2, then you will also enjoy this one. I wouldn't recommend starting the series with this game as there are lots of references from the previous games. Definitely a great series to get into. I was late to the party but am glad I started playing these.

It's a good game, but it's 90% filler... It gives more development to characters such as Kevin and
Renne
, but it's also filled with useless boring stories about the other characters.

Great finale of the Trails in the Sky trilogy. As expected just as in the first two, the writing is fantastic. This one is easily my favorite one of the three, too as it gives each character their own spotlight moment. But it is only as strong as it is cuz of the other two games that made me grow invested and genuinely care a lot for all the characters, It is definitely mandatory to play the first 2 games to be able to enjoy this one, otherwise you're gonna be lost and a lot won't make any sense. But I mean, playing all three is so worth it, anyway.
