The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd Reviews

Half a year after Trails in the Sky SC, Father Kevin Graham takes on a routine mission on behalf of the Septian Church. He and his partner are then plunged into a realm that follows an unnaturally strict set of rules and is as intent to open old wounds as it is to keep them behind closed doors.

I dunno how to really describe this one. Am I disappointed they made this just a dungeon crawler...probably. It atill has the emotion and charm that you would expect from the previous 2. I didnt really care too much about Kevin or his past but it made for a decent story alright. Some of the doors you get to go in to fill in the blanks from the last 6 months are interesting enough and some are boring as hell. Theres a lot of reading to be done too. Id say if you want to play them all to not skip this one. It is short enough to power through and ro find out what is in store for all the characters. You also get to play with a few you didnt in the earlier games. So whilst it is my least favouite of the 3 i could see myself replaying at some point. Keep opening those chests,

Alright, you've come this far already, might as well give in lol. Good game and you really feel the progression with all the systems that came into play. This is a game though you want to do the side things and even some farming if you're up to it. There is some incredible builds you can do if you put in a little time! Anyway, highly reccomend if you're new but make sure to have done FC and SC before lol

This game is pretty wonderful. A beautiful conclusion to the trilogy of the Skies! Just... be careful with the Star Door in the Abyss. You've been warned...

Best in the Sky Arc, and maybe one of the most important in the series 10/10

Slight curve ball, structure wise after FC and SC, but Sky 3rd is still a great game. Some of Sky's BEST character moments happen in this game! The slightly more dungeon crawler gameplay loop fits mostly fine, and the side stories are a great way to break that structure up. Saying that... Some of those side doors are much much too long for single sitting/viewings. I also had achievement problems with certain doors not flagging complete. Not much has changed combat wise, but some normal monsters are NOT pushovers and will F*** your party up. This game also features the best, most challenging but also fair boss fight/gauntlet I've ever played. When you finish Sun door 3: Nightmare arena. Your victory feels earned.

This was a fantastic entry into the series, and I think they did a great job wrapping up the Liberl Arc with this monster dungeon crawl. There were some very welcome quality of life improvements and thoughtful additions to the flow of combat and managing party members. I think Falcom really got the most out of this ancient engine, and I'm blown away by the creativity on display from such a small team. It feels sad to say at least a temporary goodbye to the characters I've spent well over 100 cumulative hours with over three games. I'm looking forward to Crossbell, and I can't wait to see this series through a new lens! One super important note: I experienced two crashes. Both were reproducible and have been documented around the internet. The only solution I found was to switch to DirectX 8, rather than 9. There is no discernible difference as far as I can tell, so you're probably best off just sticking with D8 for the stability. If someone more knowledgeable than me wants to offer insight as to why D9 is preferable (for this game specifically, not just in general), even with the additional risk of instability, I'm all ears.

was initially disappointed that estelle wasn't the protag but, i grew to like kevin and I appreciated how this game didn't really set out to do anything new or special and just expanded upon the lore and characters from the first two games that alone makes me feel like this game is Amazing and better than anything that's come after it, will you like this game if you played the cold steel games and thought they were peak fiction? probably not but, never hurts to give it a shot.

Please don't listen to anyone who says this game is filler, if you enjoyed the first 2 games (which I imagine you did if you're looking at reviews for the 3rd) then you'll love this one. Not only is it a great sendoff to the characters from the trilogy, it also has some of the best story telling I've ever seen in anything with Star Door 15. Also Kevin is so cool in this game. And it has Estelle in it.

Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I was disappointed at first when Estelle wasn't the protagonist, but even so, it was very loving story. It's like this whole game is an epilogue, and as someone who loves to know what the characters are doing after the main story, I loved it. I'm glad to see how all the characters have grown. I related a lot more to Kevin than I initially thought. Back in SC he was just a whatever character to me. Now I'm glad to have read his story. I think playing this trilogy has really helped me too, with digesting my own thoughts and feelings, and helping move and grow me as a person. I both want to let this series rest, and jump into the Crossbell games immediately. I'll probably wait, but still, this was for sure one of the best video game series/trilogies I have ever had the benefit of playing. Thank you for making this game. I can tell how much love you put into it. I can feel it truly. P.S. Shout out to the lone guy who translated this game from Japanese to English. This took me 60 hours, and that sounds hard asf lol
