The latter stages rely increasingly on yourself as a damage dealer instead of the towers you defend your base with. That's not exactly what I look for in a tower defense game. It gets to a point at which damage to the core seems impossible to avoid if you don't control flawesly your ship, strategy be damned. If the developers wanted to make an arcade shooter, why not just make one?
Also, for some reason I had towers bug out and start jittering, making them unable to be upgraded, moved, or connected to others. Which made me lose all the progress I had in some stages, having to start over, and suffer through the "space invaders" part of a particular mission more than I should have.

Great game really, but I'm here to tell you what you're in for.
2017 game, great considering the age, and great fun on a sale.
Voice acting is cool, but it's the same generic military banter over and over.
Game gets really repetitive after 8 hours. They try to keep it fresh with different defense directions and maps, which helps, but the loop isn't that fun.
1 turret on air line, or 3 if they are big air.
laser turrets and artillery turrets for ground.
Oh you just setup the whole map? nah, change everything next wave, then do it again next wave.
They give you unlimited replenish-able resources, which is nice, makes it easy to experiment, but they also give you the ability to collect materials from dead enemies, which in the end is tedious, when i just want to fight.
The ship you fly with IMO really only has 2 useful fighting modes, ground mortar bombs and air missiles.
Bosses are unique, but too easy, don't care to try on harder difficulties due to the lack of variety in towers I want to use.
