"Frostpunk" stands as a commendable entry in the survival strategy genre, showcasing a unique blend of city-building mechanics and moral decision-making. Set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by an endless winter, the game challenges players to not only manage resources and develop infrastructure but also to navigate the profound ethical dilemmas that arise in extreme circumstances. The game's intricate mechanics, combined with its rich narrative, create a compelling atmosphere where every choice has significant consequences. Players must balance the needs of their citizens with the harsh realities of survival, often forcing them to make difficult decisions that test their values and leadership skills. Visually striking and atmospherically rich, "Frostpunk" immerses players in its bleak yet beautifully crafted world. Its thoughtful design and compelling storytelling contribute to an experience that is both engaging and intellectually stimulating. Overall, "Frostpunk" is a solid and thought-provoking game that effectively combines strategy and narrative depth, making it a worthwhile addition to any gaming library.

I bought this game because I wanted to play part 2. I launched it and played it until 6 am. A great survival simulator! You just sit, play, enjoy, and think. This game does not forgive mistakes. I liked the ending of scenario 1 of the game, there are several plot ones. It felt like I was fighting against the final boss in some kind of action game, but it's just frost. Music 10/10. Atmosphere 10/10. I highly recommend it!

A soothing experience where the balance is almost perfect. You play the game on the edge of resources (in default difficulties) and always on the brink of a collapse. If you get the mechanics right, your choices lead you to survival. Also the soundtrack, the city building mechanics make sure that you play a refined RTS experience. Re-playability is also seems satisfactory. Even if it's just the main scenario (where it takes 8-9 hours of gametime) or further scenarios, you will quit the game sated.

i am not usually a giant fan of city builders, but frostpunk really hits the mark. the cold being it's own entire mechanic was amazing and really added tension and gave players a easy way to sympathize with the characters. the game isn't terribly long and manages to tell a unique and extremely interested story keeping you at the edge of your seat all throughout, which is not an easy fact for any game, let alone a city builder. it definitely can be surprisingly addictive with how it's difficult, but never feels like it's an impossible, insurmountable task at any given time. this is probably one of the best city builders i've ever played, an absolute masterstroke for the genre.

The Circle of Life - Children mine coal. - Coal keeps the generator running. - Generator keeps children warm. - Children stay warm enough to keep mining coal. 10/10 Would create an infinite energy source again.

Love the art style and themes but holy cow is this game stressful. It’s just not something I was enjoying playing at this time. Definitely could see myself coming back around to this at some point. I do question my interest in these city-builder, management-type games. At a certain point all I see are numbers going up and down and I lose connection with the point of it all. At the end of the day, I didn't find the gameplay loop all that fun or satisfying.

Frostpunk is the only game in my list with 10//10 rating. It broke me, made me think how desperate it can get. Its not a game you will stop thinking about once you stop playing and go back to your life. It changes you as a person. You see things in a much bigger view, and get a new look of human nature itself. I cant make comparisions of this game to any other sort of medium because it would be a desicration of its identity. It takes something really special to leave an impression on my cold heart and cynic brain, Frostpunk achieved that. I usually get bored with strategy games quickly, but Frostpunk sucked me in. It keeps things tight and exciting, with an enemy more terrifying than any AI-controlled army: the cold. In my first playthrough, I have made terrifying sacrifices to get a handful of survivors through the winter. With other games, I would have left it at that, but with Frostpunk, my brain kept working on different strategies even in my sleep. The next day I started again and managed to build a more gentle society that was more fit for survival. Kept hundreds of people alive without crossing any serious moral lines. I'm worried, that I can't stop thinking about more effective way to build my city and society. Maybe I can do it without child labor? Maybe there's a way for me to take in all refugees I encounter? The tight focus of the game helps my thoughts get completely lost among the opportunities. Love it.
