Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 370: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (8/10) Episode 4 is one of the best in Revelations 2—tight, engaging, and fun from start to finish. Barry finally gets a spotlight that works, the poison lab is creatively challenging, and the action-packed finale delivers without overstaying its welcome. Strong enemy and boss design, solid pacing, and excellent character writing make this a standout chapter in the series. 🪲 Pros:

Barry’s poison level. Barry’s segment in the poison-infested underground is a standout. The level design is clever, forcing you to navigate hazardous chemicals while managing aggressive enemies. The tunnels literally make you dizzy when you run around, and it's easy to get lost or backtracked. Of course, you have to find a key or button that allows you to go ahead without getting attacked. Super fun, loved this. And it wasn't enough to annoy me either!
Action-packed finale. The episode ramps up perfectly into a finale that feels explosive without overstaying its welcome. Thankfully, the final boss encounter is fast-paced, challenging but fair, and varied.
Enemy design. The final boss, in particular, blends horror and challenge in a way that feels fair but tense. The encounter with it feels distinct, avoiding the “health sponge” fatigue that plagued some earlier episodes.
Character interaction and writing. Barry’s charm really shines here. His dialogue and interactions with Natalia balance humor, tension, and heart. The episode does a great job reinforcing Barry’s role as both a competent hero and a genuinely caring dad.
Tight pacing and level design. Unlike some of the longer, repetitive segments in earlier episodes, Episode 4 feels tightly structured. There’s a perfect rhythm to exploration, combat, and story beats. You never feel like you’re slogging through filler—the level moves you along while keeping stakes high.
🦋 Cons:

Dated graphics. As with the rest of Revelations 2, Episode 4 still rocks the 2015 engine. Textures and models aren’t modern, though lighting and design choices still make the environments compelling.
AI partners are still clunky. Occasionally Natalia or Moira might hesitate, get stuck, or switch behavior in ways that feel awkward during combat.
Episodic format. While the pacing of Episode 4 itself is excellent, the overall episodic structure still occasionally makes the game feel like mini-chapters rather than a continuous story. But this episode handles it better than most.
