Most underrated installment in franchise.
Excellent Assassin's Creed with real good main protagonist, good side characters, and overall i think its great how they fit this into "american trilogy" and connected with AC 3, Black Flag and Unity. Gameplay is really good, cause its very similar to Black Flag, so if u liked Black Flag u will like this as well with slight innovations such as additional weapons that are good and new enemy types, i really like stalkers i think they are very interesting enemy type that are fun to defend from. Story in this game is good even though this is one of shortest games in series, cutscenes are good as usual like other ac's from this era. I don't have bad words for Rogue, i think they really did everything they could for development time they were given, and it was developed by Ubisoft Sofia which is not one of main studios, and marketing for this game was basically non existent cause all marketing went for Unity, and releasing Rogue on same day as next gen Unity, both priced 60 eur caused this game to go under the radar and be relatively forgotten. It had potential to be so much more, but nevertheless it's excellent game everyone should play.

Ubisoft has lost their spotlight throughout these years. As a kid AC series was always dear and close to my heart. AC Rogue may not be the best AC game out there but its the most unique game of the series and is a must try. I want more Templar's perspective. Templars are actually really cool and would love to know more about their side.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is the second amazing AC game I played ( The first one is Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag )
The story is amazing. You play as Shay Cormac, a former Assassin who dares to question the Brotherhood's actions.
The graphics still look great, and the details hold up as well ( even in 2025 ) :)
Combat is great (not clunky like in some other modern AC games).
No annoying DRM slowing things down. No in-game shop trying to sell you XP boosts or gear. You get the full game, start to finish, that’s rare these days, and it makes a big difference.
In the end, Assassin’s Creed Rogue is one of the best AC games I’ve played :) Great story, fun gameplay, great graphics, and none of the modern Ubisoft anti-consumer garbage. Just a complete game that respects your time and money.
I recommend it with pleasure :)
10/10.

Great game! If you liked Black Flag, this is essentially more of the same, which isn't a negative for me. You have a new setting and a new perspective, playing as a Templar.
Also it doesn't crash every 5 minutes like Unity.

Imagine Black Flag without any of those terrible tailing missions. That's AC Rogue for you. The unique story helps compliment this game even further and Shay Cormac might just be my favorite protagonist in the entire series. An AC game that finally paints the templars in good light. Modern Ubisoft would never make a game like this. By FAR the best game out of the AC3 storyline.
Would betray the brotherhood again. May the father of understanding guide us.

Assassin's Creed Rogue had the potential to be one of the best games in the series, even better than Black Flag in my opinion. It has a cool idea playing as a former Assassin turned Templar, which gives a fresh perspective. The story is interesting and shows that the Assassins aren’t always the good guys, but after finishing the game 100%, I get why it’s not as loved.
First off, the story is way too short. It only took me about 6 hours to finish the main story, which was disappointing. I thought it had a lot of potential, but it ends too quickly and is so rushed. I thought, “Okay, if the story is short, the side content must be fun,” but that’s not the case. Collecting everything and completing all the side missions took me an additional 32 hours, but most of it was just repetitive stuff like tavern missions, collecting stuff and Assassin interruptions. It felt more like a collectible hunting simulator than an actual Assassin's Creed game.
The collectibles themselves didn’t help much either. Sure, some items unlock outfits, but most of those outfits were poorly designed and didn’t look great. There are just so many unnecessary things to collect, like cave paintings. They felt like filler, adding nothing meaningful to the game.
There are a few improvements over Black Flag, like better performance and smoother gameplay, but the combat is still buggy and parkour feels awkward. The naval combat, which was great in Black Flag, is also weaker here. Ramming ships and firing cannons felt less impactful, even with a fully upgraded ship.
Overall, Assassin's Creed Rogue isn’t a terrible game, but it’s definitely not as good as it could’ve been. The story is too short, the side content is repetitive, and the gameplay isn’t as polished as it should be. There are some fun moments, but it doesn’t quite live up to its potential.

Assassins Creed Rogue is one of the most underrated entries in the franchise, often overshadowed by its bigger counterparts like Black Flag and Unity. However, playing through it again was an incredibly nostalgic experience, reminding me why this game deserves more appreciation.
Taking the Role as Shay Cormac, a former Assassin turned Templar, was a refreshing change of pace. The story, while on the shorter side, is compelling and provides a unique perspective on the Assassins-Templar conflict. Bit what was truly elevates this game is everything else--the naval combat, world exploration, and side activities are just as engaging as Black Flag, with a colder, North Atlantic setting that adds a distinct atmosphere. The inclusion of New York as an explorable city was a great touch, making the world feel more connected.
My Journey to 100% syncronization and unlocking every achievement was both rewarding and tedious. Collectibles, legendary ship battles, and renovating every settlement became a time consuming task, but none of that took away from my enjoyment. The gameplay was so immersive that even the more repetitive aspects never felt like a chore--just a challenge i wanted to conquer.
Rogue perfectly blends the best elements of the classic Assassins Creed formula, and its a shame it never got the recognition it deserved. If you are a fan of the older AC games or just looking for an adventure packed experience, i highly recommend giving it a chance.
