Like Danganronpa, it was a bit hard to start this game. I mean, the game is kinda interesting from the start but there was nothing special and you needed to remember many names ; plus, many felt typical japanese tropes. The sexy assistant fanservice felt also a bit cringe at first but, like Danganronpa again, the game becomes better and better hour after hour, darker and darker too. I will not spoil anything, but the end of the first chapter is already a surprise with a complete change of setting. After that, we discover the main city which look very atmospheric as a Cyberpunk city. You can roam between districts in each chapters to complete missions qhich help you to earn points to get capacities. Looks promising eh ? Beware, these missions are only narrative and there is absolutely no challnge involved. This aspect disppointed me at first but hour after hour, it was a great way to build the atmosphere of this city. Many many game have huge cities but there is no material to really feel immersed into it. The gameplay also felt disappointing at first because I thougfht the mystery labyrinth was supposed to be a real "puzzle" part becaus ethe story was apparently weak. After a few hours, you understand that the game is like Danganronpa, mainly a story-driven adventure game and that the labyyrinth is mainly a classical proof against statement trial. The overall visual and gameplay package then appear as a great combination of narrative asset and entairtaining/artistic experience. The gameplay is indeed easy (the trial too, easier than all Danganronpa main games in fact) but there is variety in every case because our partners have different powers. The trials also take many form and even if they can be summed up as "answer well" 95% of the time, the multiple forms (RPG-like fight, QTE-duel, guess the word, choose the right path), it is spectacualr visually and it's fun. Now of course the best asset of the game is it's story and setting. The continuous rain first give the game its identity, then as you delve deeper and deeper in the story, you discover darker secrets. The ending was good- not stunning but good - even if some people could say that it was too "easy". The main spotligth at the end is more phislosophical than a concrete set of events, typical japanese game conclusion but a bit more mature. In that case, the game is less depressing than Danganronpa and thus less "dark"/cruel. At the end, in my opinion it was a good game, less memorable than Danganronpa mainly because of the cast (which was good but the characters were not fleshed out enough to really feel attached to them ; the city backstories were good but that is not enough). The humor was less good too. The good cases and overall story/music/graphics and gameplay (for this kind of game I mean) were enough to make a good game, and that is all that matters.

just from completing a couple chapters in, i would definitely recommend this game for any danganronpa fan! because it's not limited to the same highschool setting the danganronpa games are, it allows the writers more leeway into creating another interesting story with a fresh ip/universe many ppl critique danganronpa/ this game's plot in certain aspects but honestly its personally very entertaining just going along with the nonsense this game offers, with it's absurdity + twists & turns with being a detective LOL gameplay wise it controls fine and i can intuitively find where everything is, and is very generous difficulty wise. its definitely worth the value picking it up especially on sale! make sure you support Too Kyo Game's newest release, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy if you would want more games like this!!!!!!!!!!! edit: finishing the game, it's a legit masterpiece. everything ties in together so well and the writing from the team has never been better. definitely worth picking up on a sale, you will love the game's charm!

This game is amazing It's very clear that the developers wanted to make something like Danganronpa again. This new format of the game is very new and fits very well imo Definitely worth a try if you love a game like Danganronpa

Just like with the danganronpa games there were a lot of times I got confused about certain things like "I can only share your forte if we hold hands and you give permission" But the first two times he used it he didn't have to do that lol. Still, this game was fun, gave me something to look forward to after coming home from work!

I will preface this by saying that the mysteries of this game and the gameplay itself is perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with them. My problem, however, comes with the very bad writing of the overall story. In particular, [spoiler]how the ultra corrupt Peacekeepers that basically rule Amaterasu Corp and the city of Kanai Ward itself just keep letting Yuma get away with everything he's doing. Every chapter winds up with Yuma being pushed into a corner and about to be arrested or killed by the Peacekeepers, requiring him to use Shinigami's powers to solve the mystery via the Mystery Labyrinth. But solving the mystery wouldn't HELP Yuma actually get out of that situation, yet there's always a Deus Ex Machina that gets him out of the situation in the end.[/spoiler] And given how the story is the major part of this game, I can't really recommend it unless its HEAVILY on sale. Don't get this game at full price, ever.

i just finished the game and i gotta say. wow. just wow. the cyberpunk esq style was the style i wanted for more games. i absulotly love the main character and the desicions he made . and the story... was so good, i cried and laughed , so many twists and turns, and who knew this will be the ending? i could never predict it. not i could predict every single crime. it was so.. clever. i reccomend it with my whole heart.

honestly a lot better than i initially expected. as a danganronpa fan i enjoyed this game a lot. i wish to see more games like this in the future.

I have no idea why anyone has anything bad to say about this game. If you enjoy Danganronpa, Ace Attorney, or any other games in that vein this is an absolute must-buy.

Its not a perfect game, for one the main character is an insecure coward and never really gets over it on his own, but i'd still recommend it since i quite enjoyed it, especially since i wasn't able to figure out everything in advance. The only major complaint i have is when i compare this game to the danganronpa games, in the danganronpa games you can get quite close with the other characters during free time, but you can't really do that during this game

This is the best detective type game i have played to date The story was just crazy, threw twists and turns at every chance Quite a mix of various gameplay mechanics i had to get used to but it was insanely fun! Highly recommend if you are into action mixed with a little RPG and that keeps your brain active too!
