First of all, I love 2d games, above all Metroidvanias or games with a Metroidvania-like feeling like this one technically is, and I personally think that the 2d perspective can potentially bring even more variety to a game than the 3d perspective, so since every Ty game until this expands something in their own way, even in combat, and is also various in general, I was excited about this title, but in the end this game is mostly based on an awful charged attack that is the depowered version of the one from the first game just with the boomerang instead of the bite, while the bite now is basically useless if not for the egg cameras. The enemies are basically just annoying obstacles in your way that do cheap shots. The plaforming is mid. So no, aside from the many alternative skins available for the in-game value, the variety isn't a part of the game, at least not that much, and surely way less than the previous three mainline games. The other thing positive other than the various skins for me was the return of the starting platforms from the first game, I honestly missed them.
However I think that a 2d perspective open world Metroidvania with its own variety of combat and platforming like the other three games would be great for either a remake of this game or a sequel, it would even feel more in line with the other chapters. BUT one thing I can say is that Krome Studios always have a lot of potential for their games, sometimes fully or almost fully expressed, sometimes not that much

Very Strategic 2D Platformer from the TY series. I played this for the first time and getting 100% was not easy. Level structure is great, platforming can be difficult but overall a great casual experience. Would highly recommend this game if you like Rayman or TY
