This game (understandably) got a lot of hate for the way it was marketed and how much focus SNK spent on the real world guest characters... HOWEVER This game feels really good to play. I like to fight, and I'm in here fighting. Most of my gaming time is spent on 3rd Strike and SF6, but this is definitely getting added to the rotation. Glad I grabbed it on sale.

Possibly one of the most deep and fun fighting games I've ever played. Becoming competent in this game made me better at other games XD Seriously though, this game doesn't get the love it deserves and SNK seems to be improving the game as a whole every update - which happens about every month or so. Free first year of DLC is something you can't beat either.

In terms of a fighter this game is the modernized classic fighting game the fgc has been asking for. A fighting game made for the hardcore fighting game players. Game gets a lot of unwarranted hate imo. There's "modern controls" in here as well for the more casual player. Online is decent, single player isnt that much to brag about. The actual meat which is the fighting, mad fun. And hey you get the first year of dlc characters for free which include Ken and chun so hey thats a plus. (Edit: I have more hours on console. My time on steam isn't an accurate representation of my hours on COTW)

I just don't see the point in going in on this one. The competition in the fighting game space is fierce these days, and CotW just doesn't bring the heat like the other games do. It's systems are either very derivative of the competition (the REV system) or entirely pointless and ignored (the lane system), and the gameplay even at higher levels doesn't have much in the way of variation because everyone plays the same handful of characters in the same ways. It's not very pleasing to the eyes or ears, and the roster is quite small even with a the first season of DLC being free. Online play is slightly better than previous SNK games, but these days it's miles behind the competition and there's rarely more than 300 people playing worldwide. Outside of prime-time hours, it's basically a single player game. Of course, it's an SNK fighting game, so die-hard fans and anybody from South America or Asia will tell you it's the best game ever and berate you when you point out the flaws or compare it to games that are more fun or higher quality. It's definetly one of those games that has way more people defending it than there is playing it. This is especially odd once you consider the character additions of a soccer player and a niche DJ, both real-life people, and both of who are friends with the company's primary shareholders and were muscled into the game's roster with zero consideration for what fans wanted. I picked it up 40% off and still feel like I didn't get my money's worth. I appreciate the attempt at bringing back an old franchise, but this is a budget game with budget quality both in design and production, and that doesn't cut it for me in the fighting game space anymore. 2 out of 5.

netcode is trash, everything takes forever to load, games take forever to find and when I do find one it's 9 frames of rollback

Fun SNK title, good balance in Arcade mode with the AI. In KOF: 15 the matches would be way too easy, or not very challenging on hardest difficulty, to suddenly getting impossible with the bosses. DID NOT have that experience with Fatal Fury: CotW. Basically I would get my ass kicked by the computer until I figured out some moves and how to get past the opponent's blocking. For $35.99 this is a steal, you get STREET FIGHTER Dlc for free. Come on, dude, buy the game... Fatal Fury / KOF is so unique, you get like a blend of Mortal Kombat, Guilty Gear, Tekken, and Street Fighter. Yet maybe it's its own, the series deserves credit for being around and being unique. My favorite is Street Fighter, particularly SF 6 and Street Fighter II (all of those editions) and Third Strike. However, as a young lad I also DID play Fatal Fury in the arcades and enjoyed them as well. This one really has that feeling, although with graphics more like Street Fighter and a more grounded feel like the old King of Fighter and Fatal Fury games. I had one online match and the opponent dominated me twice. Doesn't seem to be much matches online, however I'm looking at the overall package. For $35.99 or less it's a great game. Seems kind of simple in the art design and menus. The cutscenes are also a simple anime style, it actually works, but barely... At least there's longer character stories than in Tekken 8. Also, I feel that some of the stages are lacking details in the background. Like they cut corners and rushed the game to release because they were working on other games. All in all, I can't complain though, I really love the solid fun feel of the characters. The inputs seem good although I don't have much knowledge of inputs, the responses just seem good to me (correct me if I'm wrong)... Game is unintentionally funny, sweaty, but not too sweaty, enjoyable, solid, and has a few waifus. I recommend!

I just bought this game on August 1st, 2025 for 40% and mainly because of Mai Shiranui! And of course, SF6 crossover collaboration which will include Chun-Li and Ken as part of Season 1 character.

A great fighter that deserves your attention. It had some balance issues early on, but the latest patch has the game moving in the right direction. Execution is challenging, neutral is fast, and combos are flashy and satisfying. There are a lot of mechanics to learn, but there's no need to pick them all up at once. New mechanics will intuitively reveal themselves as you learn the game and get better. For example, new players do not need to worry about guard cancels and hyper defense, but important features like rev blow will be obviously useful right away. New fighting game players will still find enough modern features like huge hit stun on jump ins, a generous input buffer, and special move shortcuts to make the game approachable.

Tried to play it for my first time but I found out you could't set space button as jump. This is a critical problem for a person who is used to the hitbox button layout. So know I can't play the game with my keyboard and If I want to use the hitbox button layout I need to buy one. What kind of game in 2025 doesn't let you customize your keys freely.

I enjoy playing the game offline / story / arcade mode. I'm happy Season one DLC is FREE. I'm happy with the character roster. It's not as fun as King of Fighters XV, but it's still fun. I find it worth ~$40.
