Pre-review disclaimer (why do I even need to do this) : In an effort to reduce toxicity and people throwing bricks at each other in the comments, let me preface this review with a few words. Yes, I know the game just released, and yes I know it's early access (and what that entails). This review is here AND negative because it has more chance for the devs to see it and do something about it since it sticks out. Yes that might lose them a few sales, but honestly, you can't make a good omelette without breaking a few eggs first. I genuinely believe the devs will make this a great game. That's why I'm pointing these flaws out because they WILL turn a lot of people away and they need to be addressed ASAP in my opinion. If you also believe like I did, then buy the game. You'll pay it at a lesser price and you'll help fund the devs. If you are cautious however (which is understandable because of the literal SEA of games that never got out of Early Access), then don't buy the game yet. Wait for these issues to be fixed. This has all been mentioned in the comments by me and other people but since comments slide away really quickly, I decided to put it up here at the top. Be nice to each other. There's enough strife in the world as it is. Now for the actual review : I like this game and the idea of it, but with all the praise it's getting I have to play devil's advocate here and point out the obvious flaws that needs to be addressed. This is going to be a wall of text, sorry about that. Here's the TLDR; 1. Camera controls are very annoying 2. City Karma system in it's current state feels pointless and, once again, annoying. 3. Specific information is hard to get. 4. Progression is heavily unbalanced. 5. Content is unbalanced and inconsequential. 1. Let's start with the worst offender, the camera. Right now, it's in a weird state of wanting to be character focused but also give the possibility of looking around like in a management game. This is VERY annoying because trying to use controls that usually works in management games (i.e.: WASD or the arrow keys) moves the character instead AND cancels their interactions, but then trying to control the entire game focused on the character doesn't work either, because you can't interact with things around you unless you click on them with the mouse, like in a management game. I think there needs to be either a split or more customisation possibilities. Either have the game in "Management Mode" where whipping the camera around is a breeze with all the usual controls of a management game or "Character Mode" where everything is focused on the character will all the features of a third person game when you can interact with stuff around with a keyboard button like E, etc. And let us either switch easily between these modes or add customisation options to allow more complex configurations. I want to be clear though, I really like the fact that we can have a more character focused control set. Don't get rid of that. It's novel and interesting. 2. Next up is the City Karma system. This one is really confusing, because when overall Karma in the city is low, the game keeps threatening you to do something about it or you will meet the CEO and there will be consequences. But when you just want to control one character and, once again, do character focused things, this just gets in the way of that and moves your attention towards something you can barely even control. What if we WANT to play a character that is an absolute jackass? Now this one is a bit less bad because I've seen sliders that can be controlled for the overall city, and there are sliders for pushing people to be more karma positive or negative, but why even have the threat then? Why not just let a city degenerate into horrible Karma if the player wants to? Whats the point of the system if it can be countered by moving a slider to the right and another to the left? And also, doing this makes everyone a goody two shoes, which is just boring to be honest. It's problematic because even with just the default settings, the city almost immediately becomes bad with Karma and you get the CEO threat. I've seen no amount of positive interactions with problematic Zois really "put them back onto the right path". It's really annoying when all you want is mind your own business and do your own thing, which is the whole point of the genre in the end IMO. 3. This is more abstract, and it's about the amount of specific information the game gives you. How long will University last? Who knows. All you get are the days and time you'll go there. What do you get for completing University? No idea! Is it even possible? How much does it cost to attend? F if I know. It doesn't seem to cost anything but I always get that weird feeling that there's going to be a price tag somewhere at some time. University is clearly the worst at that one, but not the only offender. This one we can easily put under the "Early Access" excuse but it still has to be mentioned. 4. The progression. (Edited already, since I had no idea we could change day length) Days are 4x longer than the direct competitor, Sims (96 minutes on normal speed vs 24 minutes in The Sims). There are ways to adjust that, down to 2x longer (48 minutes) and up to a full one to one 24h long day. That's pretty cool, but its one hell of a whiplash when you compare these possibly MUCH longer days to how fast you can get things done. You can very easily become super soul-mates with someone else in about 4 to 5 REAL minutes, regardless of how you set the time. School and careers advance super quickly as well, making you THE best student/employee in about 3 in-game days (on 96h setting, no idea if other settings change that). Edit : There is a way to tune relationships now it seems, but careers and skills are still a no go. Right now, setting the time to 48 minutes seems to have the best balance although I haven't tested much, but it seems already balanced to be at 24 minutes days like in the sims even though you can't even get to that setting. I wish there was ways to tune the progress just like you can tune the time, because it all feels a bit too fast right now. Also a 24 minutes option would be nice, as it'd give a more sims-like pace for those of us who have been used to "The Woke 4". (thank the troll bots in the comments for that one) 5. And finally, the content. This one can also be blamed on Early Access. Right now there's a bunch of things, but it all seems inconsequential and/or not really fun to accomplish. There is a clear imbalance in the usefulness of skills as well, where the writing skill "Critical Thinking" seems very important, but you can just sell books for about 50 to 100$ most of the time even with pretty high skill and you don't really get any royalties. Meanwhile, with painting, you can make 4000$ worth paintings in about the same time and investment spent. There's also a skill about coffee making, for some reasons. Priorities seems to be very scattered for now, and the whole game has a very "rough" feeling to it compared to other Early Access games I've played over the years. Overall, with the current price tag, I'd skip it (edit : if you're cautious of Early Access.) Especially since all the BEST features of the game are literally in the demo (edit: which was just available for a short time when looking at streams of inzoi, which leads me to believe that the developers might know this as well). I'll be waiting a couple updates, and I'll edit this review when stuff gets fixed and/or broken as it does.

First of all, let's give a huge shoutout to the developers of inZOI. Recently, they made a decision that has won the hearts of many players: removing Denuvo. For those who might not know, Denuvo is a copy protection system that often ends up hurting the game’s performance. By removing this barrier, inZOI not only runs smoother but also opens up the possibility for modding – which is a huge win for the creative community. Yes, you read that right: the game is faster, lighter, and has way more potential for customization. This was a brilliant move for those who want to see inZOI expand in unexpected ways, with mods bringing fresh new experiences and ideas to the game. What stands out even more is the developers' commitment to listening to community feedback. This isn’t something you see every day, but inZOI has really set itself apart in this regard. They don’t just make the necessary changes—they do it quickly, responding to player requests and adapting in real-time. This makes all the difference! After all, when developers listen to their players, it’s clear they’re dedicated to improving the game and delivering a richer experience. And honestly, the future of inZOI has never looked so bright. With these changes, it’s obvious that the game has huge potential to continue growing and attracting an even bigger fan base. The community is stronger than ever, and the developers know exactly how to keep that fire alive. It’s clear that inZOI isn’t just a game; it’s a living, evolving platform where players have a voice. So, kudos to the developers! The game is in great hands, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us. The future really does look bright for inZOI.

When I first saw this game, I was amazed by how much you could do—but once I got into it, it felt a bit shallow. Too easy. The relationship system stood out first. I was randomly clicking dialogue options, and within 30 mins, I was "Engaged" to a virtual partner. Felt fishy. I half-expected divorce, court, & losing 80% of my income. But nope. I met my future love outside my starter home, went on a weird date (they were late), tossed a few compliments, said “let’s do this again,” then bumped into them 10 mins later... boom—proposal. But now I needed cash! Food, staff, gifts, venue—super immersive. You even choose who pays: just me? Me & my lover? Family? My best friend? You’re free to be the a-hole. lol Tried to play fair by sending my ZOI to work. After 5 real hours, I had $4,000—barely enough. Thankfully, you can cheat money in. I gave myself $100M in under a minute. Nice! But after the wedding, things got weird. When you're in a “sweethearts” or “engaged” status, your partner is super affectionate. Once married, it's like a new relationship layer replaces the old one—suddenly a hug gets rejected like you're a stranger. “Ew! Why are you so close to me?” or “Dude, WTF?! Did you just try to kiss me?” That’s... not how love works. Everything resets & you have to rebuild affection under “Family Relationship.” Feels off. Unless that’s what marriage is actually like—I wouldn’t know. Thank gosh. I tweaked some settings early. UE is grainy & ghosty without tweaks. I turned off Ray Tracing, auto-driving, & ZOI free will. I don’t want my ZOI telling someone their butt’s huge. I’m the boss here, alright? lol Edit: About AI generations. I heard that most, if not, all AMD graphic cards owners will not be able to use this feature because it isn't supported. I am an NVIDIA user, so it works for me. I have no idea about Intel ARC. I am guessing it's the same thing. I was hyped for the building mechanics, but they’re meh. You can slap basic AI textures on walls, floors, furniture—even yourself. Not Stable Diffusion-level, but cool. You can even scan real-life stuff & import it. Neat! Not perfect, though. What's cool is the fact that you can create an entire house, or a room, or simple furniture from scans and upload all of it online. Ever wanted to create your dream house or room and got yourself House Builder 2? Well, forget about that junk of a game because inZOI is a gold mine in comparison to what you can do. It's ... madness. Although, some stuff is technically not legal. I saw a couple of things owned by Nintendo and well, they are never happy when their stuff is shared online without their consent, that includes a simple plushy or a figurine of a Nintendo character, you see? So yeah, not sure how that's gonna play out. I bet the devs will be busy banning people and removing certain items from their Canvas website where everything's hosted. Anyway! Coming from Sims 2/3/4 & Urbz (my fav), building was way easier there. Here, I tried placing a bathtub & it said “overlapping”—but there was nothing there! Turns out, some items have hidden padding zones for movable parts that block placements. Would be nice if we could see those. No music in-game unless you’re in menus or near a speaker. Immersion, I guess. Bugs? Minor. One ZOI ghost-walked through my house. Another invited me to a lounge for something “urgent,” showed up late, then had a totally normal convo. No mention of the urgency. Bug? Or just amnesia. You can’t turn off auto-pathing when using “Go There.” No waypoint system, so your ZOI walks on its own. And once you lose control, they phase through everything. Same with auto-driving. I turned all auto-stuff on & my ZOI clipped through cars, people, buildings... physics just die. Turn it off if you want immersion. Jobs? My ZOI joined the military. No cutscenes or interactivity or different location—just stared at the screen for 10 mins, got $600. Maybe other jobs are better, but this one? Snoozefest. Unless you’ve got a family? Character creation is solid—reminded me of Black Desert Online. You can’t adjust the hair directly, but facial joints are super detailed. Hairstyles are limited, though. Also, the clothing system is impressive. I tailored shirts & pants to mimic stuff I own IRL. Not all clothes can be mixed, though. I hoped for career outfits to wear freely—like a firefighter outfit if I work at the fire dept—but nope. Bit of a bummer. Stats like Fitness don’t affect your ZOI’s body. You can change build manually in the appearance editor, but it won’t happen naturally from leveling stats. Well, that will be all for now! I will edit this review once the game is out of early access and with new updates! I hope that was helpful to you!

I used to love The Sims, no doubt, Building my world from the inside out. But EA crept in with a devilish grin, "Fun's not free—now type your PIN!" A thousand bucks just to play it right, DLC stacked out of sight. Want a pet? That’s not for free. Want a full game? Don’t look at me. But now I’ve found a better way, No paywalls standing in my way. InZOI’s here—no greed, no lies, At least for now—no corporate spies. No broken game, no cash-grab schemes, Just play, create, and live your dreams.❤︎

So far it's a great foundation for a true "Sims successor". I won't be going into performance issues and bugs because it just came out of early access so go figure. But there are fundamental features missing from the game which I feel contributes to the game's barebones feeling, specifically the inZOI interactions with one another and everything.
The Good
1) You're able to walk around the town a la Sims 3. This plus the shoulder view feels really immersive. 2) AI features which lets you create custom items, ability describe how the inzois should act and even create custom emotes via videos or gifs 3) You're finally to actually commit a proper crime like driving a car to run over people. So creating criminal or evil sims isn't just petty theft, burglary or grand theft auto. Hopefully we get to see more crimes we can commit. 4) Characters designs and creation looks gorgeous, it's like having cosmetics mods installed from the get go 5) The Karma system is promising though a bit tedious to use. It allows your zois to affect the town in a dynamic way. 6 The devs actually removed that POS DENUVO from the game after fan feedback. That itself is a huge plus for me to the devs.
The bad
1) Character interaction between each others feels disjointed. You can't just ask a sim whether they want to hang out by the couch together, go to a park, or do activities together. It's almost always through menus and not the Zoi actually interacting with each other. 2) Speaking 'synthetic' Zoi interactions, dates feels overall pointless since there's not interaction features that let's you do thing together. 3) Characters boost their relationships extremely fast, like faster than the Sims which makes the progression and challenge of socialising feel unfulfilling 4) Zois age way too fast, I'm only 3 weeks in and my Zois dad who started of as an Adult died within 3 weeks. Old man didn't even live to see winter. 5) Not a lot of activities to do in town. Even the hotspots shown on map lack much activities to do there. Your choices are either buy food from kiosk or street food, buy lottery, browse the shelves for merch, go surfing alone, go rollercoasters alone 6) Woohoo animation feels like a placeholder. Your zois lie down in their bed wearing their everydays, a giant ass bright red heart pops up and you can clearly see your zois lying straight on their backs staring at the ceiling. 7) Zois will always try to pick a fight with their family/housemates even if they have good relationships and good karma. So a good natured zoi can out of nowhere destroy his/her relationships within the span of a half a day because of the relationship change speed. Overall while the game got great potential but I cannot recommend it in this current early state, there's many basic features which I feel should have been polished before entering early access. Because right now Zoi interactions doesn't feel organic and there's little activity to be done aside from just going to work or running people over with your cars. So if the devs are reading this: 1) Give more options for the players to use the Zois to do things with other Zoi using dialogue. Having to call over other Zois using the menu doesn't feel immersive 2) Have more fun activities that gives fun rewards for playing them 3) Give us the option to manipulate a ZOI's lifespan, they die too fast 4) Reduce the speed of ZOIs gaining relationships, maybe give dates or hangouts a bigger boost to relationship instead of just talking. Also incentivise using group mechanics 5) Reduce the tendencies of ZOI actively seeking out to destroy their relationships. 6) A better woohoo animation would be great, right now it looks cheap. 7) Being able to try for a baby outside of marriage would also be great to have 8) Give us more criminal activities for evil ZOI playthroughs like mugging, kidnapping or even murder. It would go so well with the city's karma system. I hope inZOI work on making zoi to zoi interactions more organic and believable instead of relying of menus to call over only for zoi to just stand there and do nothing. But seeing as how inZOI devs listened to the fanbase and removed DENUVO, I've no doubt that they're willing to listen to their players and add more features that brings ZOIs to life.
Promising Potential, but Needs Major Improvements
Before I start writing my review, I’d like to give some advice to players who are interested in purchasing the game but are not in a hurry. I suggest waiting a bit longer. The current game content still feels rather empty. If you're mainly interested in character creation and building, then it's fine. However, if you're looking for rich gameplay content, I wouldn’t recommend buying the game at this stage. Once Krafton has fully expanded and improved the game, I’ll come back to update my review.
After 20+ Hours of Gameplay
Since I'm not particularly interested in character creation or building mechanics, my review will primarily center around the life simulation aspects of the game. First of all, I can tell that the game has a solid foundation and great potential. However, due to the current limited content, it sometimes feels a bit empty. That said, considering it's still in early access, I completely understand, and I’m looking forward to future content updates.
1. Optimization Issues
This has already been mentioned by many players in various communities. My PC isn't high-end, but I can play smoothly on low settings, so overall, performance isn’t too bad. However, occasional crashes still occur.
2. UI & UX Issues
The UI is clean and visually appealing, but the UX experience isn't great. Many features are buried under multiple layers, making them hard to access. Even after playing for 20+ hours, I still struggle to remember where certain functions are, which means I have to search for them repeatedly. I suggest placing the most frequently used daily life management features on the main interface for easier access.
3. WASD Controls
I believe many players have already raised concerns about this. My suggestion:

In top-down "God View" mode, WASD should be used to move the camera.
When switching to third-person view via the Tab key, WASD should then control the Zoi character.
This adjustment is important for two main reasons:

Players often manage multiple Zoi characters within a household. Using WASD to move the camera would allow for quick navigation and better control, especially when combined with mouse-click commands.
In Build Mode, WASD controls the camera. However, in Live Mode, WASD moves the Zoi instead, which is quite confusing. Since players frequently switch between Build and Live Mode to tweak furniture and decorations, it’s crucial to maintain consistent controls within the same perspective to prevent confusion.

4. Character Movement Feels "Heavy"
Zoi’s movements feel unnecessarily sluggish, especially at the start of an action. When I press the W key, Zoi does respond immediately, but the initial movement is slow and overly drawn out, making the animation feel heavy. Even after picking up speed, walking and running still feel somewhat sluggish.
5. Zoi Can’t Multitask
Zoi cannot perform multiple actions at once, such as eating while chatting or watching TV. What's even funnier is that when one Zoi initiates a conversation, they just stand there awkwardly, waiting for the other Zoi to finish their task before the chat can begin.
6. Sitting Mechanics Feel Too Rigid

Zoi must sit to eat, and if no chairs are nearby, they will walk a long distance just to find one.
Some conversations require sitting, while others must be done standing.
These mechanics feel unnatural and reduce gameplay flexibility.

7. Food Handling Issues

After making a pizza or other multi-serving meals, Zoi eats one slice and then throws away the entire remaining dish.
Zoi only cleans up their own dishes, but not those of others. I’m unsure if this is a bug or an overlooked feature.

8. Eating Behavior Issues

When hungry, clicking the hunger icon makes Zoi search for food, but they only take food from the fridge—they won’t cook or eat food from their inventory.
When outdoors, they only drink water instead of buying food.
Drinking water alone shouldn’t be enough to fully satisfy hunger.

9. Unrealistic Hygiene Mechanics

Washing hands restores cleanliness too much. With frequent handwashing, a Zoi could theoretically never need to shower.
Exercising should significantly reduce cleanliness, but it currently doesn’t.
(A side note: A YouTuber once tried a challenge to see how long a Zoi could survive with no money, home, or food. Initially, it seemed like an interesting experiment, but we quickly realized that as long as the Zoi slept on public benches, washed hands repeatedly, and drank water, their condition barely changed—this is highly unrealistic.)
10. Karma System Feels Pointless
I like the inclusion of a karma system, but managing it feels tedious. Currently, players have to manually reward or punish Zoi with extreme karma, but every action triggers an unskippable 2-3 second animation. When multiple Zoi need to be managed, this process becomes incredibly time-consuming. If this feature isn’t planned to tie into deeper mechanics later, I suggest removing manual karma management and allowing rewards/punishments to trigger automatically(and/or randomly) based on Zoi’s behavior. If you insist on letting players to manage the karma, at least remove that 2-3 second animation.
11. Time Acceleration Is Too Slow
Even at 8x speed, time moves painfully slow. While my Zoi was sleeping, I went to the bathroom and did some light cleaning in real life, when I returned, my Zoi was still sleeping. This is a major issue. Many players quit after just 1-2 hours because of how slow-paced the game feels. (Another major reason is the WASD control issue mentioned earlier—these two problems are huge deal-breakers.)
12. Cars Feel Useless

Even after purchasing a car, Zoi won’t use it for travel. Instead, they still walk to the subway or bus station.
Family members traveling to the same destination at the same time don’t travel together.
Passengers don’t automatically get into the car unless manually controlled.

13. Door Access Restrictions

Only the elder household can set door permissions, and they can only adjust their own access.
I hope door permissions can be assigned to specific household members individually.

14. Cleaning Service Bug

Hired cleaners (repairman as well) enter the house, they walk around for a bit, then leave without doing any work, wasting money.
There should be an option for scheduled daily cleaning instead of having to manually hire a cleaner every time.

15. Vague "Aspirations"

Zoi rarely act on their aspirations unless manually directed.
Some aspiration descriptions are too vague, making it unclear how to fulfill them.

16. Automation Issues

Zoi's autonomous behavior needs improvement.
Even when I set a Zoi’s preference to "Like Cooking", they never cook. If I set "Dislike Cleaning," they still clean all the time.
After school, Zoi don’t automatically do their homework.
Zoi don’t autonomously fulfill their aspirations.
Zoi rarely find things to do on their own—most of the time, they just sit around or pick fights with others.

Overall Impression
The biggest drawbacks right now are the inconvenient UI/UX and the extremely slow gameplay pace. The slowness isn’t the kind that makes the game relaxing—it’s the kind that makes it frustrating. This is due to a combination of:

Slow character movement
Clunky controls
Frequent need to search for buttons/functions
If these issues are addressed, the game would be much more enjoyable!

I'm a 34 year old man and I've been with EA since "The Sims" and back then this what we thought the game would eventually turn out to be.....For years and years we have begged EA for a game like this and they never listened. This game is AMAZING!! It's ONLY the EARLY ACCESS!!!! This game has so much potential that it isn't funny!! This game already beats out the sims on the fact that it has most of the DLC content already in the game and its still in beta. EA has been greedy for far too long and now it's about to finally cost them. Good job Krafton Team, you guys have something good going here and please keep listening to your community. Don't be like EA.
