Used to love SMITE and was an early alpha adopter for SMITE 2. Hi-Rez has proven they are a scum company who doesn't deserve any of our money. Speak with your wallets and let them know.

Will not play this game again until upper management changes. How someone can look at the blood, sweat, and tears the team has put in to make this an incredible game and lay them off is A sign of incompetence I have never seen. Player numbers jumping 10x and you lay off the division that brought you that success and you get to keep your job? Fire Stew into the sun.

This game is unfortunately on life support at this point and is not worth spending time in anymore.
Over 100 people have been laid off at the company over the past six months, 70 of them laid off just yesterday, including a lead gameplay designer in charge of new god production, a senior UI artist in charge of god icons and item icons, the monetization lead who was in charge of battlepasses/events and skin production, and several other designers and programmers as well as the entire Esports team, meaning Smite 2 will not have a competitive scene at all. Six months ago they laid off essentially all of the marketing/advertising team and at this point the company is now down to 75 employees total. Hirez as a company has launched over ten games and all of them have either been taken offline or sunsetted except for this one. The only way this game survives is if a larger company buys them out, which with the way live service games have been going in the market, seems incredibly unlikely.
I've put over 1200 hours in Smite 1 and 2 combined and it's incredibly unfortunate and quite depressing knowing that this game is now in its final stages of life after they laid off the vast majority of the team and are now operating on essentially a skeleton crew. The game will likely be dead by end of year if not early next year at the latest and I do not recommend investing your time and money into a game that will not be here in 12 months. I'd love to be proven wrong but it's pretty obvious that they're hemorrhaging money if they're laying off people essential to the development of the game.

This is a great game for anyone that loves League Of Legends & is better than Smite 1. However like Smite 1 the matchmaking system installed in this game is complete trash & makes you not want to play Smite 2 at all. If you do play be prepared to lose 10+ games in a row due to poor matchmaking. Players are also toxic & leave the game constantly which takes away from any fun that could be had. Finally, conquest forces you to play roles that you don't want to play regardless of how low on the preference list you have them so you will spend most of your time cursing at the game due to the matchmaking & the forced role playing. I don't recommend that anyone play this game until these issues have been addressed.

Originally bought into the early access excited to support what I thought was one of the better run developers out there. Had no problems throwing countless of hours and money into Smite 1. The game held a special place in my heart, the community seemed somewhat friendly and the theme of gods, skins, and cosmetics was quite frankly amazing. Then came Smite 2 pre-alpha or whatever they wanted to call it.
It was in one simple word a disaster. I put less than an hour into it and it was trash stopped playing immediately. Came back after the big fix patch and game was back to what I remember smite being. Then the news of layoffs happened lots of rumors swirling about logged on for a few hours of playtime and the little bit I played through was extremely toxic not worth my time. Do yourself a favor stay away not even worth supporting this game from the awful leadership at the very top end. Scummy does not even begin to describe it and that makes me sad to write out coming from someone who played Smite 1 through the very very early days. Between this and destiny 2 boy oh boy.

Hirez,
i have like five thousand hours on your first game. and was willing to try the horsesh*t game that you claim is the second one. no wonder why your company is failing. like the constant bugs and ways that you spit in our faces with new currency instead of using the gems we earned from the first one. remember guys 220+ years to make/import skins from the first one, the same one where you only put in 10ish years on. go play dota or league since you are making it like it anyways. atleast those companies care about your time.

I am a long time SMITE veteran and it is the only MOBA type game that I enjoy.
Initially when the SMITE 2 alpha testing began I was very invested. That unfortunately burned out quickly. If you had the same issue then please read the rest of this.
Now in the SMITE 2 beta I have been pulled right back into it and I am enjoying this game a ton. I am currently having more fun than I was in some of my last times playing the first game. The improvements they have made have been great both visually and from a gameplay perspective.
I believe there needs to be a bigger focus than ever on ensuring gods come to the game in a more healthy place, or working quickly to get them there. SMITE had so many gods near the end and many of them had some absolutely jank bs mechanics. Now this limited roster makes things much more balanced feeling. I want them to keep adding gods but making sure they are fun and fair. They missed when it came to Ama and I'm glad they were quick to try addressing that.
As they add more the game will get better and I do believe this will be a worthy successor to SMITE. Best to hop in now and get your legs under you because it can be a rough transition for a while before you figure it out.

Giving Bungie a run for their money when it comes to crappy executive leadership. Great job laying off your most vital team members 👍

Fantastic game with lots of potential. Played 6-7k hours on Smite 1. Smite 2 is better in nearly every aspect. Especially since the alpha launch, the game has skyrocketed with improvements.
It’s a damn shame that Stew and other executives are killing the game that so many worked so hard on, just to keep their pockets full. The devs of Smite are the most committed I’ve ever seen. Thank you for everything, and I hope an amazing opportunity comes your way.

The Game its self is fantastic, I've played over 150 hours of smite 2 since free to play. The Devs are doing a incredible job. That being said the upper management is ruining the game, specifically Stew, the CEO. He has continuously made poor decision which has resulted in them having to lay-off over half the company. I've spent well over $1,000 one this and Smite 1, as have my friends. But This was the final straw, I'm sure im not the only one but I won't drop another dime into this game or any Hi-Rez game until they remove Stew and re-hire most of the staff lost.
