Rogue Legacy Reviews

Rogue Legacy is a genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero. Each time you die, your child will succeed you. Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might be a dward with have vertigo. But that's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be to succeed.

The first of the genre I ever played back when it was free on PS+ a decade or so ago. Someone said it was bullet hell trash it's NOT it's charming and aura-packed

A great rouge-like that lets you play as a warrior descended down from a long line of great hero's. Journey through an ever changing castle that pits you against deadly traps and terrifying monsters that will try their best to end you. Find treasures and power up to face the dangers ahead. Defeat all the bosses to win and go down in history as a legend! A great time that offers plenty of challenge and fun. Give it a try if you like a challenge.

Is it a great game? No. Is it a bad game? Also no. Clearly the devs put love into this game and they are proud of it but it still could have used a lot more polish. The controls are very "slippery" and the game relies on cheap tricks to make it difficult. You will grind a lot unless you're just really good at games. Yes it is satisfying to finally beat a boss after so many tries but after beating them all you face the last boss which I beat on my second try. Just felt like a very underwhelming last boss fight.

This game has not held up well. Most classes are kind of useless. The traits system is skewed towards affecting gameplay in a negative way - like no color, upside down, wildly different movement mechanics and attack ranges from run to run. Combined with a high grind factor and very high platforming difficulty out the gate, where you'll encounter rooms in the first biome that are impossible to avoid damage in, this is not a game you're likely to enjoy for the first 20-30 hours until you've reached a critical mass of character upgrades and gear. Get the second one instead, or a better variation of the rogue-lite genre than this.

It's crusty, it's janky, it's not as refined as the sequel, but damn if it isn't still fun. There's really not much like Rogue Legacy, so if you can handle some jank, give it a spin.

A old but good Roguelike, with good mechanics and systems. The best way to think about this game is Dark Souls and its like. As it is about progressing through 5 bosses by getting the player skill and mechanical upgrades to get strong enough to get to the boss room and kill the boss. The weird random things that each child gets is rather funny at times, sometimes helpful and sometimes a detriment, thankfully you pick between a selection of children. Another thing this game has for it is the lack of content bloat, sometimes you find a Early Access game that never finishes due to content bloat and gains weird legacy baggage that is not used , but this game does have a end, which is a huge positive to me. Music is good in the sense it does not get annoying after hours of play. Achievements are doable but very hard, too hard and time consuming for me to want to get them Though it should be noted while the mechanics are simple enough it is a platformer and if you don't like Platformers then this is not the game for you. All in all good game, not great game, not bad game, but good game.
